SYNOPSIS

Getting a boy to fall head-over-heels in love with you isn’t easy. Especially when he’s been in love with your cousin for as long as you can remember.

Lana has lived her life in her cousin’s shadow. Ashton always made perfect grades, had tons of friends, and looks model-perfect. And she’s always had Sawyer Vincent—the only boy Lana’s ever wanted—wrapped around her finger. But now things are different. Lana has a chance to make Sawyer see her, and she’s taking it. If only he’d get over Ashton—because Lana is sick of second-best.

Sawyer’s heart is broken. He’s lost his best girl to his best friend. And then Lana comes to town. Ashton’s cousin has always been sweet and soft-spoken, but now she’s drop-dead gorgeous as well. Sawyer doesn’t know if Lana can heal his broken heart, but spending time with her might at least make Ashton jealous.

What starts as a carefree fling becomes a lusty game of seduction. Sawyer and Lana may have different motives, but their scintillating hookups are the same kind of steamy. . . .

“When you fall for the one who owns you, she’ll be the only one that has the power to make you cry” – Beau…*sigh*

WOW…I am in my happy place right now…I LOVE LOVE LOVED

The Vincent Brothers!! This was a PERFECT sequel..and I have to say I read it in one sitting because I cannot get enough of the Vincent Brothers and THAT accent which I hear in my head clear as day and that has a piece of my heart!!

Shhh …whispering…

(I think this one might just be my fave and my ♥ belonged completely to Beau before but now ♥ ♥ Sawyer ♥ ♥ !!)

The Vincent Brothers picks up 6 months after the break-up of Sawyer and Ashton. Sawyer is still hurt, heartbroken, and angry trying to come to terms with seeing them together every day and adjusting to the fact that his brother is with the girl he loves.(In the Vincent Boys, Sawyer and Ashton broke up after she fell in love with Beau and him with her.)

We didn’t really get to know the “real” Sawyer all that well in the first book and I have to admit that because we saw him through Ashton and Beau’s eyes I kind of disliked him..alot..(I feel really bad now!!). However, in The Vincent Brothers we get to hear Sawyer’s voice and see things from his perspective and get how he felt about what happened with Beau and Ashton. I LOVED that! It made him real and it put his behavior into perspective! I loved getting to know Lana too as in the previous book she was there but didn’t really leave much of an impression on me as a side character.

So…Sawyer and Lana’s journey begins when they “bump” into each other on a night out. Lana, Ashtons cousin, is there for the summer and is staying with Ashton. Lana has changed her appearance over the last six months in order to finally get Sawyer to notice her, as she has long been in love with him –

“Sawyer was always the Vincent boy worth fighting for. He’s the special one” – Lana

Sawyer does indeed notice Lana, but unfortunately he has plans to use her as a way to make Ashton jealous and as a summer distraction for himself. His plan, (which made me pretty mad!!!) doesn’t quite go as well as expected though when Lana gets to him in a way that not even Ashton did. I LOVED Lana because despite her sad personal circumstances which should have knocked her down; she stood up for herself, she was feisty, she knew what she was worth and didn’t take any nonsense. Just what Sawyer needs!!! And Sawyer *sigh* he really got me mad at times but he totally redeemed himself and this one scene (won’t spoil it) had me in tears and I felt all emotional!!! When Sawyer loves…he LOVES!!!

I LOVED the epilogue too..I’m a sucker for epilogues and this one – PERFECT!!!!

I feel kind of sad now that it’s over but happy and satisfied too..(I am hoping that it doesn’t end here though ;0).

This series is amazing and I can’t recommend it and Abbi Glines enough!!!

SYNOPSIS

The 50’s…Drive-in Movies, Doo-wop Music…and Love in the Back Seat of a ’51 Plymouth In 1952 Kentucky, 18-year-old Lily Foster, the daughter of strict Southern Baptist parents, becomes pregnant by the town “bad boy”-and just like that, she finds herself married to a man who doesn’t want to be a husband. Jake has no intention of letting the inconvenience of marriage stop him from what he believes is his due.

In actuality, Lily is the one who is trapped. She loves Jake-always has, since they were children playing in the woods on adjoining properties–and she’s convinced she can eventually make him love her.

All it will take is desire and patience.

Once the baby arrives, they will be the perfect little family. From Lily’s home on Opal Springs Ridge to a four-year stint at an army base in New Boston, Texas, and finally, to life on their own in Bowling Green, Kentucky, Lily struggles to maintain a rocky marriage with a moody, immature husband while raising two daughters.

Set during the “American Dream” period of the ’50s and into the turbulent ’60’s, LILY OF THE SPRINGS is a story of a woman’s indomitable spirit and her fight for independence and identity in an “Ozzie & Harriet” society.

5 Stars!

This was such a heartbreakingly, emotional read and every character is so well written and explored that you feel everything the story has to offer.

Lily was a fun, tragic, inspirational character and I connected with her immediately.  There were times I really questioned her sanity regarding her decisions over Jake but I could understand where she was coming from because this is set in very different times to now and she didn’t have the choices available to her.

“I knew my marriage was in trouble the night my husband brought home a streetwalker to teach me how to satisfy him.”

Jake…..oh wow, this guy was such a contradiction! Just when I felt settled with him, I would be on the edge of my seat just waiting for him to mess up again and when he messed up, boy was he an absolute dick!

I loved the colloquialism’s in this book and Lily certainly had some of the funniest ways of describing a situation that had me giggling.  I really did love Lily so much and wanted only the best for her.

Where this book really shone was in the way the author managed to transport  you to the era’s with music, fashion, historical events and how women were perceived during these times.

The way the author wrote as the children was nothing short of amazing – these interactions really tore at my heartstrings.  Yes, I cried a few times during this book.

The author explains how this book came to be and I think that’s when I lost it – what an absolutely beautiful way to end what was a truly wonderful read. You can tell her heart was on EVERY page! I felt it and I believed it!  This was such a poignant and moving story and it’s one you don’t forget in a hurry!

SYNOPSIS
Sweet, bookish Neve Slater always plays by the rules. And the number one rule is that good-natured fat girls like her don’t get guys like gorgeous, handsome William, heir to Neve’s heart since university. But William’s been in LA for three years, and Neve’s been slimming down and re-inventing herself so that when he returns, he’ll fall head over heels in love with the new, improved her.

So she’s not that interested in other men. Until her sister Celia points out that if Neve wants William to think she’s an experienced love-goddess and not the fumbling, awkward girl he left behind, then she’d better get some, well, experience.

What Neve needs is someone to show her the ropes, someone like Celia’s colleague Max. Wicked, shallow, sexy Max. And since he’s such a man-slut, and so not Neve’s type, she certainly won’t fall for him. Because William is the man for her… right?

Somewhere between losing weight and losing her inhibitions, Neve’s lost her heart – but to who?

REVIEW by GITTE

So I have had this book on my tbr since reading “Unsticky” by the same author. I finally got round to it and I have to say I really liked it. It was NOTHING like Unsticky (which is one of my fave’s this year so far) so in a way I was really disappointed in that!! However, seeing as I am not a real fan of chick lit, I’ve got to say this is the best book I’ve ever read in that genre. It was REAL, it was FUNNY, and I could RELATE!!!!

The story was so well written. I completely got the issues getting over what happened during childhood/teenage years/issues with body image and self-esteem…and the need to find that special one. This book is a journey of someone who wants to be noticed not only for who she is but for her perseverance and her journey of pulling herself out of the shadows to the light by learning to LOVE herself AND letting others LOVE her.

This story is about sweet, innocent, self-doubting and body conscious Neve. She is a very intelligent and focused girl. Neve has always had issues with food. She became extremely over weight and this marred her for years. She has been in love with William since University but unfortunately he moved to LA and has been gone for 3 years. When William left for LA, Neve decided that she was going to loose all the excess weight so that by the time William came back he would fall in love with her and find her irresistible.

After a couple of years Neve is almost at her target weight but a new problem crops up. Neve is completely inexperienced when it comes to men! Her sister Celia takes it upon herself to rectify this by taking her out on “pulling nights” trying to set her up with her work colleagues…this is where we meet Max (who is *sigh* completely YUMMY HOT!!)!!!! I LOVED Max…how could you not!!! Max works with Celia and is a serial flirt!!

Max and Neve are complete opposites, they are Night and Day!! It should never work….not even a “pancake relationship” LOL..loved the analogy so won’t spoil this one!! This is where I was absolutely HOOKED!!! The interaction between Neve and Max is HILARIOUS, SWEET, YUMMY, and HEART-WRENCHING!!! Ultimately they bring out the best in each other during their time together, however neither of them are perfect. Max is hiding a ton of issues behind his “male-slut” persona and Neve, well I don’t even know where to start with her. There were times where I wanted to throw my kindle at the wall and shout at her to stop putting herself down and enough of the weight obsessing already, but Rome wasn’t built in one day and neither is self-esteem!! That being said I was totally in tune with Max getting more and more annoyed and irritated with Neve!!

I really liked the other characters in the story too (except for William YUK!!)and the other running story lines only added to Neve and Max’s journey. One being the bullying tension between Neve and her sister-in-law Charlotte, this one kind of cemented why I felt sorry for Neve rather than jump to the easy option of hating Neve’s character for her obsessive self-doubts!!

I have a feeling this is a book you will either love or dislike depending on how you feel about Neve. I have no doubt that Max will win everyone over cause he is totally scrumptious…but Neve..well I’ll let you decide but I loved her!!!
