It’s always the strongest that fall the hardest……

Ryan Kendall is broken. He understands pain. He knows the hand of violence and the ache of loss. He knows what it means to fail those who need you. Being broken doesn’t stop him wanting the one thing he can’t have; Finlay Tanner. Her smile is sweet and her future bright. She’s the girl he grew up with, the girl he loves, the girl he protects from the world, and from himself.

At nineteen, Ryan leaves to join the Australian Army. After years of training he becomes an elite SAS soldier and deploys to the Afghanistan war. His patrol undertakes the most dangerous missions a soldier can face. But no matter how far he runs, or how hard he fights, his need for Finlay won’t let go.

Returning home after six years, one look is all it takes to know he can’t live without her. But sometimes love isn’t enough to heal what hurts. Sometimes people like him can’t be fixed, and sometimes people like Finlay deserve more than what’s left.

This is a story about war and the cost of sacrifice. Where bonds are formed, and friendships found. Where those who are strong, fall hard. Where love is let go, heartache is born, and heroes are made. Where one man learns that the hardest fight of all, is the fight to save himself.

5 ++++ Beautiful and Emotional Stars

Jenny: Well G, this certainly had us sobbing didn’t it? Fighting Redemption was such an impassioned, rich and beautifully told story of love friendship, loyalty, pain and loss. It was an intensely emotional, passionate and moving read and one I couldn’t put down, even sneaking reads here and there so as not to miss a moment of the yearning love between Fin and Ryan. My heart was put through the wringer many times as I cried, loved and lived every moment with these beautiful characters and I know you felt the same too Gitte.

“I just want you to know that having to watch you leave is going to be one of the hardest things I ever have to do.” – Fin
“Every piece of me is in here.”…”My breath, my heart, my life. I won’t ever leave you if you keep that inside of you.” – Ryan

There was so much depth to this story. Not only do we witness the budding, yet intense love between Fin and Ryan but the secondary relationships, the camaraderie between the SAS crew and the special brotherly bond between Ryan and Jake together with the bonds between Fin and her brother Jake were so well developed also. These relationships and characters were all so beautifully woven together in a story that had my stomach in knots and heart alternatively melting and hurting.  Kate McCarthy sure gave us a winner here didn’t she Gitte?

Gitte: Oh wow she sure did. What an absolutely heart-wrenching beautifully told emotional story. It was quite simply stunning.

“I’ll love you longer than the stars that live in the sky.”

This is one of those stories I urge everyone to pick up and read, because this is not only a journey which you literally live with the characters, this is life.

“There are no goodbyes in life. Only see you later” – Ryan

It has so many aspects that will touch your heart, make you cry, make you feel hopeful, make you laugh and make you realise just what you have and what you can achieve.

“Don’t….Please don’t cry. You have such a big future ahead of you. You’re going to do big things with your life. Don’t let anyone stop you from being who you need to be, okay?” – Ryan

It’s a lesson in life and love, in friendship and family. It had such passion and feeling; it’s inspirational. This Author quite simply put me on my knees in agony at times for sure but also in awe as well. Like I said, Fighting Redemption is stunning!

“I need you to wake up and smile at me like I’m your everything, because without you, I’m not anyone’s anything.”

Jenny:   Ryan had suffered abuse and was denied the nurturing from his parents that should have been his right and carried a burden that wasn’t his to carry.  This man held onto guilt and blame and felt unworthy because of it.

“You have to stop doing that, Ryan. Stop fighting what’s in your heart. Maybe if you do, you’ll realise there’s nothing to forgive.” – Fin

Ryan was welcomed into the Tanner household after Jake, his best friend became aware of Ryan’s unfortunate home life and thus began a relationship bond that was unbreakable.

“I carry scars Fin, both inside and out.” “Everyone’s perception of beauty is different.”- Ryan

Ryan always wanted to be a soldier. He had an intense need to serve, protect and fight for others. Jake shared Ryan’s dream and both enlisted into the SAS after passing the rigorous training, forming bonds that went deep. Both were shipped to Afghanistan leaving as boys, returning as men hardened by war.

“War is a cold, selfish bitch, Kendall. It changes you. It makes you hard, and it makes you hurt, yet somehow, we keep going back for more.” – Kyle
“Because we’re soldiers.” – Ryan

Ryan Kendall was a true hero in every sense of the word.  He was compassionate, loving, brave, strong, determined and….well…very alpha (who didn’t talk in monosyllabic tones thank goodness!) in every sense of the word yet so sensitive and loving. I bloody loved this guy and he certainly stole my heart and yours too didn’t he G?

Gitte: Oh my days Jenny,….Ryan! Where do I even begin with what I felt for this man? The life he was given, the boy he was and the man he turned into. His journey was the hardest to read and his strength, his inspirational courage and the size of his heart was truly admirable and I fell in such love with this man.

“I want to be SAS,” he replied…”The best there is. There are countries full of people unable to fight for themselves. I want to be there to do it for them in the only way that can make a difference.” – Ryan

Ryan’s relationship with Jake and Fin was beautiful. Despite the fact that he was the one who was suffering through an awful childhood; he was the rock in everyone’s life. He carried such a huge burden on his shoulders alongside an immeasurable guilt. None of which he deserved. His love and friendship with Jake and Fin was heart-warming, he protected them and was there for them to the best of his ability despite his inner suffering.

“Don’t hope for us, Fin. Please. I can’t have you wasting your life waiting for someone who might never return.” – Ryan

What do you do when you find your soul mate as a child? Love; which is pure and innocent and grows into so much more. A love you deny yourself because you feel undeserving. I bawled my eyes out. Not going to lie!

‘Where did he go from here? He was so fucking lost. He buried his head against his knees, gasping with laughter. Hadn’t he always been lost?’

The love story in Fighting Redemption broke my heart, not only because it was so damn emotional and sad, but also because it was so bloody beautiful and romantic. Oh and it was extremely passionate too. The setting of the romance making it even more dramatic.

‘The taste of Fin was like the purest Heaven and the hottest Hell.’ – Ryan

Jenny:  Absolutely. The love story was beautifully sad and really spoke to the heart. Fin was such a beautiful, innocent and loving character. Her heart always belonged to Ryan, yet was so conflicted by her feelings.  While Ryan chose to join the army, Fin was forced to move on and form a life for herself, and try and forget the man who owned her heart. Fin really did have so much to contend with and displayed so much strength yet her vulnerability was so unbelievably endearing.

“I’d have given you my entire heart if you’d only asked, but it’s not yours now. It’s not yours.” -Fin

Gitte:  Aww I loved Fin, this poor girl knew where her heart belonged but the obstacles and secrets prevented this girl from true happiness and love. Her character was so well written and I completely understood and connected with her. She was so strong under the circumstances and had a fierce loyalty to those she loves. She made me laugh at times and made my heart ache in equal measure.

‘Ryan grinned. “You’re a nerd.”….’An utterly beautiful, adorable, clumsy nerd.’

Watching Fin trying to get on with her life was tough at times and it wasn’t helped by countless misunderstandings and lack of communication. However these were completely believable and never went too far. I have to admit to shouting at Fin and Ryan a few times though!

Your touch is warm and your palms are rough, and it hurts to have you so close when you don’t want me.’ – Fin

J&G:  Theirs was a once in a lifetime love born from a connection that was a passionate and all-consuming yet when honour and duty are involved, the heart sometimes suffers.

“I’d give up almost anything to wake up to that every morning.” -Ryan
“Almost anything…That’s always been our problem, hasn’t it?” – Fin

Ryan and Fin’s story took us through the complexities of healing such deep emotional scars and this author brought forth such rich and realistic characterisations which made you FEEL you were part of their story. These soldiers not only sacrifice themselves when they choose to serve and protect but they sacrifice those they leave behind also and through this story you feel their loss and their pain.

“Stop trying to be a hero all the time. You’re so busying saving everyone else you forget about yourself.”

Fighting Redemption is a story of love, loss, friendship and loyalty. It’s about soul mates, about hanging onto hope, it’s about bravery, mateship and of learning to take risks with your heart and never giving up on a dream.  It’s about living every minute as if it’s your last, never forgetting and never regretting. This was a love story in every sense of the word. It was highly emotive, beautiful, moving, tragic, romantic, passionate, haunting and breathtaking which all makes up to this being one of our favourite reads of 2013.

“I have thick skin baby, but your under it, you’re buried in so deep it’s like I was born with you in my soul, when I’m near you, I’m consumed by you, your smile, your eyes, your heart, you’ve always been mine.”

Kate McCarthy, thank you from two very grateful readers for bringing this story and these characters into our lives. We absolutely recommend Fighting Redemption be added to your TBR’s…NOW!

asking for trouble cover

Pretending to be in love has never felt so sexy.
Brent Mason and Hayden Winstead can’t stand each other. She plans exclusive parties for her rich family’s charities. He’s a rough and tumble cop who rigs explosives for a living. Could two people be any less suited for conversation? They think not and prefer to keep it that way.

Forced together, the mutual attraction simmering beneath the surface of Brent and Hayden’s non-relationship grows with every argument until it explodes into a scintillating night of mind-blowing sex. And it won’t be the last, as far as Brent’s concerned.
Hayden has a secret, though. Her father’s company is relying on a merger to save them from financial ruin, and only Hayden’s marriage to the CEO’s wealthy son can secure the deal. If she’s to protect her family, she’ll have to forget Brent. And he has no intention of being forgotten.

Gitte: So there’s no question, every time Tessa Bailey comes out with a book I know I’m going to love it before I even read that first page. Yes, that’s how much complete faith I have in this lady and how sure I am that I’ll fall in love with her characters. I know she’ll make me swoon, clench, and lust after her male hero. I know I’ll sympathise, connect and love her strong yet vulnerable; sassy and sometimes quirky heroine. The story, well the story I’ll love because this Author manages to achieve in few words exactly what was intended. To make the reader feel, fall in love, laugh, swoon and most of all she takes the reader away to that happy place where pure indulgence can be devoured. Seriously this lady excels at that satisfying filthy talking passionate quickie we all sometimes need, pun totally intended!!

‘Brent had a rough-and-tumble quality to him that Hayden imagined drew women like bees to honey…’

This series is HOT, it has humour, lots of dirty talking and fantastic characters that all seem one way on appearance yet all have such depth and a heart that just wants to be loved, wanting to find its soul mate.

Asking for Trouble is another blindingly brilliant addition to this series and it’s one that can be re-read and enjoyed over and over, the dialogue is flawless, the pacing of story and character development spot on.

‘Since the night they met, the two of them had mixed about as well as orange juice and toothpaste. He rigged explosives for the NYPD Emergency Service Unit. She flitted about all day organizing charity functions and dinner parties for Manhattan’s elite..’

You loved it to didn’t you Jenny?!

Jenny: I certainly did G!! What’s not to love about a Tessa Bailey smoking hot dirty talking alpha cop book?  This author is fast becoming one of my favourite authors because like you, I know I’m going to enjoy whatever she brings to the table. Well, 4 out of 4 books we’ve enjoyed so far so the odds are in our enjoyment favour I’d say!!

The Line of Duty books always seem to pop up after we’ve just come off a  pretty heavy emotional read we relish every morsel of them. Asking For Trouble was a knicker changing, heat inducing read that had me escaping into the naughty world of the Line of Duty cops and dear lord did Brent deliver the goods or what…..”You need a good tongue-fucking, duchess.” – Lucky bloody Duchess I say!! Sign me up!

Brent was certainly one of our favourite naughty talkers and we were highlighting his filth like crazy! In fact I think we pretty much highlighted the same quotes G!  😉 I really did love this story. This one Asking for Trouble had enough emotion to keep my heart in check and the connection and chemistry between Hayden and Brent kept my pulse racing!

Gitte: So, do you fancy a bit of passionate hot kink with handcuffs? A sweet, strong and genuine heroine who suffers from preconceived social stereotyping perception? Fancy a LUSH ‘blower-up of shit’ protective and sensitive hero with a wicked sarcastic sense of humour

“I hate these stockings.

Don’t ever stop wearing them.”

Oh and a penchant for dirty talk well….Brent’s your man.

“If you have any doubt about my ability to fuck the ever-loving sarcasm right out of you, I’ll be happy to clear it up.”

“I’m a big man, Hayden, and I fuck twice as long, and twice as hard. You’ll get used to it. And then you won’t be able to stand in the same room as me without wanting a ride.”

This guy is a perfectly written alpha kick arse hero who has a heart of pure gold and a singing voice that rivals Bette Midler, yeah I was so caught up in their story that these characters became real and I heard them in my head!

‘This Hayden, the one making dorky-sweet puns that called to his inner goofball, was beginning to feel real to him and he couldn’t allow that to happen. Tonight couldn’t lead anywhere…’

Bloody brilliant Tessa Bailey, once again you delivered, as if there was ever any doubt, and you nailed it lady!!!

“You are an enormous dick.”

“Correction. I have an enormous—–“

Bring on the next instalment!!! We can’t wait….right Jenny?!

Jenny: I’m always ready for these books G and will 1click at every opportunity.  Oh dear god….he sings too!!  This extremely hot, dirty talking alpha mountain of a man was written to perfection. Bossy without being a dick, dirty without making you cringe….yep, Tessa Bailey nailed it alright and I loved every minute.  Not to mention that this  man certainly knows how to pleasure a woman!!

“Next time you need me, wake me up.”  “You don’t spend a minute unsatisfied in my bed. Understand?” – Brent

Oh okay Brent, if you insist!!  If I was Hayden I’d be sleeping with a bucket of ice cubes next to the bed!!!

Hayden with her sarky wit was more than a match for our straight shooting Brent and was an absolute delight. I loved her sassiness and I relished  watching the woman beneath the glossy exterior come into her own as she discovered herself and the sensuality she kept hidden. The banter between these two was so much fun, the cheekiness of the pair was uplifting and they won me over completely.

“Stop whistling, Flo. You’re scaring people. When a man your size whistles, he’s just chopped up half the cast of a horror film.” – Hayden

Asking for Trouble was another fun, seductive and very satisfying addition to a series we love!

fighting to forgive

What do you do when everything you avoid, turns out to be exactly what you need?

Easy and predictable, just the way he likes it, Blake Daniels flies through life the way he burns through women: on his terms, no regrets.

With his fighting career in full swing, he’s on the threshold of title contention. But when his training is compromised by injury, the stakes grow impossibly higher. The rage that fuels his punches also chips away at his focus, and he risks losing everything he cares about.

He won’t let that happen. Not again.

Layla’s through with men. After a marriage that never should’ve happened, she hopes to reclaim the pieces of the woman she lost years ago.

Emotional abuse has left her insecure and terrified. A master at faking what she’s not feeling, she masks her self-doubt in false confidence.

She’ll never let another man hurt her. Not again.

Chased by shadows of the past, Blake and Layla know what they don’t want, but their hearts have a different plan. As a web of lies and betrayal threatens to destroy them, they’re forced to make a choice.

Is love enough to heal even the deepest wounds?

Or will they be left Fighting to Forgive?

G&J 4 Stars

Gitte: Wow, how hard did we fall for Blake Jenny? This guy is LUSH, we kind of knew his story would be fab though didn’t we, as we both fell for him in the previous book. I wasn’t expecting such an emotional read though, and I have to say I thought Blake’s story was really well written and so very heart-wrenching; his past, his childhood, his struggles, well it broke my heart. This guy is not only a gorgeous alpha UFC fighter, he’s funny, protective and has a huge heart.

I loved the first half of the story, I don’t think I put it down once, then it got a tad over the top and predictable, but it soon picked up again. I have to say, one scene BROKE me and that was all Layla our heroine, poor girl. Wow, I did not see that coming!

‘There’s no denying this chick does something to me. Her strength and attitude call to me on a physical level. And there are moments when she forgets to reinforce her tough-girl exterior and leaves herself exposed. Fuck if those glimpses don’t make me want to possess her and become the man she needs.’ – Blake

So yeah, loved this second instalment, I think this Author has really polished up her writing, she reminds me a lot of Kristen Ashley from her earlier work. You thought the same didn’t you Jenny?

Jenny:  I did Gitte and ummm yeah we certainly fell pretty damn hard for Blake. In fact I think our entire conversation when we started it consisted of “oh my god, how much do you love Blake?” I loved Blake’s story.

‘He’s a fighter, born and bred to defend, to settle wrongs with punches. To submit the enemy until they give up. This is him, strong and caring, poetic in a way that cramps my chest.’ – Layla

The prologue broke my heart and from that moment on I was hooked. So much I wanted to know and couldn’t wait to delve deep into this story.  There were so many layers to this Blake and Layla and peeling them back and getting to the nitty gritty of it all was certainly heart breaking at times. Both for Layla and Blake. These two damaged people really deserved some happiness and love in their lives that’s for sure!

Gitte: Blake was such a male slut, he was a bit of a cock actually but a lovable one. The women fall at his feet as he blinds them with his cheekiness, his fab sense of humour and the ummm obvious!! I fell in complete love with this kick arse guy and he’d be hard to beat for me in this series.

‘I’ve always loved fighting, the power that surges through my body with every punch. It’s addicting.’ – Blake

Though I have to say, he pissed me off greatly in one scene where he should’ve known better, I actually thought his character was given a disservice as I don’t believe he would have ‘reacted the way he did’ in said situation!! It didn’t seem in keeping with the story and the nature of their relationship nor his character!!

“I want them. They’re mine.” – Blake

As for Layla, wow, this woman’s sure been through the mill. Her past is shocking, her present is scary and emotional. Our girl truly deserves her second chance at life and love. Layla has strength and conviction and fights to give her daughter a better life, all commendable qualities. I have to say that I’m in two minds about Layla in parts of this story. I’m not entirely convinced that her jealousy, assumptions and behaviour weren’t too over the top making me think her to be more irrational and annoying than sensible and lovable. So many of her actions towards the latter part of the story were quite over the top in my opinion. I did really feel for her, what she’s been through and yeah one scene had me in shock and tears.

“I know it sounds silly. But, everyone needs someone fighting in their corner, Blake. I’ve never had that and neither have you. You own my heart, and everything that comes with it.” – Layla

So, Layla and Blake were both multifaceted well written characters and they brought out the best in each other, they were soul mates. They’ve had such tragedy and hurt in their lives that they are perfect for each other in more ways than one. They have passion, vulnerability and their story was really quite beautiful in places. I really enjoyed their story and it’s my favourite in this series so far! I loved Blake…like really really loved Blake and I love the writing style of this Author. Bring on book #3; Fighting to Forget!!!!

Jenny: Blake was definitely the love ’em and leave ’em type guy but considering his background and upbringing I can understand why he was hesitant to give his heart away or believe in love happily ever after.  I knew I’d love Blake after meeting him in Fighting for Flight, and never had any doubt he’d win me over, but he really was a revelation in Fighting To Forgive. There was so much to this cocky, gorgeous man and he had me laughing at his straightforwardness, admiring his strength, loving his wit and losing my heart to all that was Blake.

“Last night, what you said? You were right, I’m broken.” …..”You’d only hurt me.”

Layla was so selfless, always putting everyone else’s happiness before her own and wow had this woman been dealt a cruel blow in life. She had definitely suffered at the hands of a cold, unloving man and for her Blake provided the love, protection and support she had always craved and needed.  Layla had so many emotional walls built up around her that only a man with the determination and tenacity of Blake was ever going to break through.

‘I feel desired. Worshipped. Cared for.’ – Layla

The revelations as they unfolded about Blake and Layla’s pasts were at times shocking, especially for Layla. I did NOT see that coming and it broke my heart thinking of her having to experience the pain she was forced to confront.

“Just me and you, Mouse. No one from the past. When we’re like this, it’s us. Only us.” – Blake

I really did enjoy this instalment Gitte. Fighting to Forgive was heading towards a 4.5 Star rating for me until around 75%. Up until that point I was swept away with the passion, the banter, the emotion and the romance of the story, but then THAT scene came along and we were on the phone straight away discussing it because we felt that after everything we had been through, after believing so much that these two were going to push through and make this work….for him to react that way? Well, I was annoyed to be honest because it really was out of character and it felt as if everything we had invested in them was thrown away.  But… did recover quickly and so I forgave readily and loved Blake and Layla’s story.

“It means you fight. Anything worth having in this life, you fight to get. And you don’t stop fighting until you get it.”

I loved Blake’s voice in this story and think JB Salsbury knocked it out the park with both POV’s.  This author sure does write one hot alpha MMA and I can’t wait for more of this series down the track!

‘The only thing that means anything is lying beneath me, eyes closed, and a soft smile, on her lips. And she’s all fucking mine.’ – Blake

4.5 G.O.G. Stars!!

I loved this book and can’t wait for more in this series! We met all these characters in Temporary Bliss (Bliss #1) and spending time with them again was a real treat!

True Bliss begins with Kate talking about her desire to meet Mr Right instead of Mr Right Now and I have to say that reading this book was like being on a brunch dates with my single mates and listening to them bemoan the lack of men out there looking to settle down, of hearing their plight of looking for, but not finding that special love. Not just any kind of love though….Kate, like my mates wants to experience THAT love.  You know the one?

“I want the kind of crazy love we’ve been warned about. The kind of love that makes your heart skip a beat. The kind of love that makes you want to dance in the rain and bottle up the sunset while screaming at the top of your lungs. The kind of love that authors write about, musicians sing about and lover’s dream about.” – Kate

Yeah, that kind! Kate’s situation came across so real and so familiar that you feel as if Kate  could be one of your girlfriends and you’re there with her as she tackles the single dating scene looking for love.

‘I want to be loved. Is that so wrong?’ – Kate

Kate is searching for Mr Right and Zander is searching for Miss Right. Can their paths finally collide and allow them to see what everyone else sees, how they are so right for each other? Can the person you’re destined to be with be the one that’s right in front of your face?

We first met Kate and Zan in Temporary Bliss and whilst I adored them then, I completely and utterly fell in love with them in True Bliss. These two characters will melt your heart, set it a flutter and although you’ll be completely satisfied, you’ll still want more!

Kate is the best friend of the crazy gorgeous Mac and Zander was once of of Mac’s three booty calls. Hmmmm…awkward!  Zander assumes Kate would have an issue with his past dalliances with Mac…you know, the whole someone’s seconds dilemma, and should they ‘get it on’ he’s worried that Kate may hold regrets.

Kate has a “three date rule” whereby she won’t sleep with someone until the third date. Tricky, because if ever two people needed to release that pent up sexual energy it’s these two. Pass the ice bucket!! But both aren’t looking for a quick hook up though and Zan wants to prove he can be the man Kate needs and goes all out to make her see it. Let me tell you folks, when this man delectable man wooed…..dear god….did he have me SWOONING.  Zander in woo mode is something to behold. Sigh…..

“It’s killing me to say no to you Kate. I just don’t want to be another thing you regret in the morning. You’re more than a quick lay, you’re a lifetime of making love.” – Zander

See what I mean….serious swoony Zan in action!!  Zander, our gorgeous stripper come police rookie in training, is a natural protector and has been since he was forced to become the man of the house at only thirteen, taking care of his Mum and three sisters following the passing of his father.  Kate wants to feel loved and protected and the attraction and find the love of her life and the chemistry between these two sizzles.  I was desperately willing these two to be together. They were so perfect for one another and complimented each other so beautifully.

True Bliss was such an easy, romantic and wonderful read and I was completely lost in this story in every way. It never felt weighted down with over descriptive prose or relied on drama for the sake of drama. The story flowed well and I relished every single minute spent with characters who were such a joy and who feel like old friends.

My only issue were a couple of instances where the story would jump in time and then be told via flashback.  At these times I would have preferred to have stayed in the moment with Zander and Kate because I was enjoying the development of the relationship so much I wanted to experience every single second in real time. But, the flashbacks were so well written that I was able to just go with the flow and enjoy the fun.

My heart broke for Zander and Kate when miscommunication, non disclosure and circumstances cause the path to true love to experience some hiccups.  But Zander wasn’t giving up and when Zander fights for his woman, trust me,  you will be doing some major dreamy sighing let me tell you.  I was a gonner. He is up there as one of my favourite book boyfriends and I just loved him!

‘I love you enough to fight for you until you tell me there is no hope, then I’ll fight harder. You are the only woman I want to be with, to laugh with, to live with, to make love to.’ – Zander

The situation and characters created by BJ Harvey felt so real and relatable the story was told in a beautifully witty and endearing way,  allowing True Bliss is the perfect escape.  I dare you to read this book without a smile constantly plastered on your face….when you’re not fanning yourself or madly swooning that is!

‘One look like that, and I’ll give her the world and ask if her she needs anything else.’ Zander

This author has a knack for bringing real life situations to life in her stories, turning them on their head and in the process creating a fun, passionate, swoony and very entertaining read! I know I’ll be 1clicking the rest of the Bliss Series without hesitation.

“I thought I was the luckiest freaking woman in the world because I was loved by you. You’d chosen me.” – Kate

True Bliss had the perfect blend of drama, heat, romance, passion, romance and a huge helping of fun.  The banter between all the characters will result in you falling in love with them all. This was a lose yourself and enjoy every minute kind of read and was one I couldn’t put down until the end. I read it with a grin on my face and warmth in my heart. Pretty bloody satisfying I’d say!

‘Kate has me, all of me. I feel claimed. I’m totally caught. Hook, line and sinker’ – Zander

I know the feeling Zan buddy, because you, Kate and the whole True Bliss gang certainly had me hook, line and sinker too!  Loved True Bliss and highly recommend it.

Tabitha knows her haunted past will destroy both of them if Wyatt finds out. What she suffered through was too terrible and it’s the one thing that will have him crossing the line for revenge.

“Every fighter has a story that could break your heart. We lose, we get hurt, and everything comes apart. That’s when it’s so difficult to stay on the straight and narrow” – Barry McGuigan

Jenny: 5 Star perfection!
Gitte: 5 bloody fantastic stars!

Jenny:  Speechless. That’s the word I’m starting my review with because what I just experienced in Crossing the Line really left me completely and utterly speechless. This book reminded me why reading is a passion for me and not just a hobby.

“How’d you know you loved our mom?” – Wyatt
“To be honest, Wyatt, I can’t really remember a time when I didn’t love her.”

It was moving, funny, tragic, and beautiful and hot……it was everything.  A real treasure. At times it broke me and at times it lifted me. Every single word in this book was precious and Kele Moon has done Wyatt and Tabitha proud. This author has woven their lives together with storytelling perfection.  Kele Moon, you stole my heart with this story. This one certainly exceeded our expectations didn’t it Gitte?

Gitte: This is why I love reading, this right here Jenny!! I can’t give ‘Crossing the Line’ enough accolades, because I don’t have sufficient vocabulary to do so. This story is why I hold Kele Moon on a pedestal of Authors who I love beyond words.

She managed to capture my heart, my mind, my body and my soul with the story of Wyatt and Tabitha, but not only that, every single one of the characters who makes an appearance or star in this series. I can’t know enough, love enough or crave enough. I laughed, I cried, I felt the romance and the passion.

Kele Moon; I love you for reaffirming just why I read, for making me remember what true romance means,  for taking my heart and holding it in your hand for a while, for why I want to shout about it from the rooftops to make sure everyone gets to live the same experience I’ve just lived.

‘Between pain and regret, the sweetness still lingers and in that ray of light I cry out to you – Why.’

I feel as if I’ve lived a million lives, my heart breaking; being shattered by heartbreak only to be lovingly put back together by the caring hand of Kele Moon. However also, I was basking in the warmth, hope and inspiration; by heroism, by courage and strength.

Through flashbacks to the past we experience important childhood memories, friendships, innocence, love and protection. The impression left is so emotional and intense leading the reader into an understanding of the present agonising over circumstance, feeling every single word as it bleeds off the pages.

‘Every story had an innocent beginning, even theirs…’

Jenny:  This story really did have it all G, that’s for sure. Crossing the Line begins with Tabitha returning to Garnet where old wounds are reopened and reminders of the pain, the love, the desire and loss experience between Wyatt and her is brought to the surface.  Now if I ever I prejudged a character wrongly it was Tabitha.  I always thought her selfish and cold for leaving Wyatt when he obviously loved her so intensely. As Tabitha’s story unfolded my heart broke into a million pieces. I mourned their lost years and I ached for what should have been and I loved her with all my heart.

“I don’t wanna cry right now. Let me love you instead. We’ll take a rain check on the rest.”

Gitte, there were so many questions we wanted answered weren’t there?  Why did she leave and what made her stay away and remain elusive for so long? What drove her from the man who loved her so desperately?  Well, instead of just giving us mere answers Kele Moon weaved magic when she took us on a journey back to the beginning with Wyatt, Juliet, Clay and Tabitha. And what a journey it was!

“I’m not going away, Tabitha, and I’m not giving up.”

Told through flashbacks, we get to experience first love, loss, friendship, pain and also get to witness the unique relationship and sixth sense between those no nonsense siblings Ju Ju and Wy Wy. In doing this we were able to fully experience the bonds formed and shared between them as children to adulthood.  I likened the telling of their story to watching a home movie of people we love. I was glued to every mesmerising moment. What did you think Gitte?

Gitte: Oh Jenny, the story of Tabitha as we learn of her life broke me. The consequences upon the love between her and Wyatt, what they had and what they lost. Broke my heart.

‘Their past loomed between them like a malevolent dark cloud, tearing open all the painful wounds that had never healed for either of them. It was obvious Wyatt hurt just as badly as she did, which made everything a thousand times more agonizing.’

There was a tremendous amount of loneliness and loss, heartache and guilt. But most of all there was love, a love that was never forgotten. Then there was passion, honest beautiful intense passion.

“Wouldn’t it be tragic for the hero to be in love with the one girl who could ruin him? What if one kiss was the end of the world? One sweet indulgence, a ray of light in her darkness and all it did was bring on the ruin.’

Wyatt was amazing, truly amazing. He is one of my all-time favourite heroes, because that is what he is; a true hero. He was an amazingly brilliant written character, he was strong, determined and had a huge heart of pure gold. He is fierce, protective and loves without boundaries.

‘Sometimes Wyatt said dumb things, but his heart was always in the right place. She knew her hero. He wouldn’t do anything to hurt someone with no reason.’

If ever there was a series which should be read, and read in order it’s this one. It’s as if ‘Crossing the Lines’ ties up a timeline, a history and past which has had consequences for the future lives, friendships and ultimately loves of Wyatt, Juliet, Clay and Tabitha. Reading ‘Crossing the Line’ has been an experience I’ll never forget and is easily one of the best books I’ve ever read.  This is a story of true heroes and heroines who burrow into your heart never to leave, their footsteps echoing in your heart and mind long after you’ve finished their story.

Jenny:  Absolutely agree G!  We know a few readers have been advised this can be read as standalones by those unfamiliar with the Battered Hearts Series.  I want to stand up and shout a big fat NO! DON’T DO IT!!  These books HAVE to be read as the author intended them. To do otherwise would be denying themselves a truly memorable reading experience!

Wyatt was a revelation. I love this hot MMA/Cop with the little or no filter. He stole my heart with how fiercely he loved and his loyalty, love and compassion for those around him. His passion and love for Tabitha never wavered and…..well, I bloody loved him.

“We can’t fix this. We’re broken, Wyatt.” – Tabitha

His blustery personality is overshadowed by the size of his heart. Heroes come in many forms and I met plenty of characters who earned that title in Crossing the Line. They all shone like a beacon and I adored them all and I’m desperately waiting on Nova’s book!

“There are heroes in the world, Nova, you just have to know how to look out for them.” Tabitha
“I don’t believe in heroes.” – Nova

I have to say though, Kele Moon….you are my author hero. There just aren’t enough superlatives to express how much I loved this book.  Your story stole my heart, broke my heart, mended my heart and then captured it forever. Simply breathtaking!

“I love her so dang much sometimes I feel like I can’t even breathe without her around.” – Wyatt

Kele stayed true to her characters and did them proud, she blended them beautifully and enhanced every moment of pleasure we gleamed from her previous books.  Crossing the Line had it all. Heat, heart, humour, beauty, wonderful character development, a  beautifully told and moving story, it was swoon worthy and gave me a bloody good cry.

‘Even if their souls were broken and fragmented, it felt like if they could come together again they’d fill in all those cracks and holes and be one whole, perfect soul instead of two damaged ones.’

If I had to sum up my reading experience in Crossing the Line it would be……perfection.  Because this was everything I could possibly want in a book.  We definitely want more!!!
