WITH YOU & TORN FROM YOU (Tear Asunder #0.5/#1) by NASHODA ROSE

with you

Sculpt is an illegal fighter.

He’s also the lead singer of a local rock band.

No one knows his real name.

And from the moment I met him, he made me forget mine.

In order to convince Sculpt to give me self-defense lessons, I had to follow his one rule—no complaining or he’d walk. I didn’t think it would be a problem. I could handle a few bruises. What I hadn’t anticipated was landing on my back with Sculpt on top of me and my entire body burning up for him.

I tried to ignore it.

I failed of course. And having a hot, tattooed badass on top of me week after week, acting completely immune to what he was doing to my body—it was frustrating as hell, so I broke his rule—I complained.

Then he kissed me.

Author’s Note: This novella is Sculpt and Emily’s beginning and how they met. It is an extra and not required to be read before “Torn from You”. Their story and what happens to them is the novel “Torn from You”.

*Warning* Huge cliff-hanger. Like huge! But “With You” and “Torn from You” are released on the same day.*

torn from you

Love is like an avalanche. It hits hard, fast and without mercy.

At least it did for me when Sculpt, the lead singer of the rock band Tear Asunder knocked me off my feet. Literally, because he’s also a fighter, illegally of course, and he taught me how to fight. He also taught me how to love and I fell hard for him. I mean the guy could do sweet, when he wasn’t doing bossy, and I like sweet.

Then it all shattered.

I was alone and fighting to survive.
When I heard Sculpt’s voice, I thought he was there to save me.

I was wrong.

(It is highly recommended to read “With You” the novella first).

*Warning: This book contains some disturbing situations, strong language and sexual content. Over 18 years.

This is a love story with some dark elements. Dark contemporary romance. No cliffhanger and next in the Tear Asunder series is Ream’s story (the band’s lead guitarist).

G&J:  4.5 Stars

Gitte: So, we have to stress, read With You first. It sets the scene for Torn from You and we get to experience Sculpt and Emily’s beginnings. This is extremely important in our opinion as it helps inspire the mystery and intrigue as well as establish the connection between the reader and the characters. Oh and the cliff-hanger in With you is a complete WTF moment for sure, it comes out of no-where!! At least you don’t have to wait, you can dive straight into Torn from You!!

‘…everything inside me was screaming to get out.’

I have to say I read these two books in one sitting, I could NOT put them down. Frankly, they were spellbinding as one twist after another was thrown at us, some horrific, some so violent and degrading I felt sick to my stomach. It was a surprising, intense, passionate and tear jerking read that’s for sure.

“Eme, us…We’re only broken when we’re apart.”

I thought the writing was brilliant and I loved all the characters. It really had me second guessing everything. Oh and it was extremely sexy too…like extremely!!! I mean Sculpt…what can I say….

“Damn, he’s totally fuckable. Like slam you against the wall fuckable.”

I’ll leave Sculpt our HOT, enigmatic and intense underground fighter/rock star to you Jenny, I know you fell for him just as hard as I did.

“You, Emily. You’re worth fighting for. I fought all my life, but never for anything worthwhile. Now… Now I’m fighting for my heart. Bullshit ends here and now.”

Though at times I wanted to kick him in the shins, I have to say!!!

“I’m scared.”

“You should be.”

Jenny:  Oh I couldn’t agree more Gitte. To me it’s a necessity to read With You first. You capture so much of the story and feelings behind Sculpt and Emily’s story and it makes the events of Torn From You that much more shocking and I would definitely advise readers to read in series order.

With You was the perfect introduction to Sculpt and Emily and wow! Yeah…Sculpt was that brooding, hot rock star….and underground fights…be still our hearts! You’re right Gitte, I fell just as hard you. Loved him and loved watching the relationship between Emily and Sculpt develop.

“Eme, you’re something sweet, and I want sweet. Wanted it for a while now.” – Sculpt

‘Damn it, kiss me, I screamed. Bad, wrong, or whatever, I wanted him to kiss me.’ – Eme

“I kiss you Emily….there’s no going back. No other guy kisses you, touches you, or gets to taste what’s mine.” – Sculpt

Argghhh Love those alpha guys!!!  It didn’t feel rushed and I was able to absorb, enjoy and struggle through every minute with them.

Gitte: So, Emily, well I loved her as our heroine. She started off as very insecure, naive and vulnerable, yet honest and forward too. She intrigued me because I knew there was something more to her as every so often you’d get a hint of feisty from her. Her innocence was endearing especially as she just didn’t have a clue about a lot of things. Our Eme was a pretty quick learner though and matured and grew as the story progressed, forced by circumstance.

‘I recognised nothing of the man I had fallen in love with.’

Now, our Eme meets Sculpt and asks him to teach her to fight and be strong. Little does she know just how much she’s going to need that! She not only lands the hot, sexy fighter/rockstar Sculpt, she also lands a whole lot of violent trouble.

“I can’t erase you. I tried but I can’t.”

“You can’t erase what’s engraved.”

I have to say, I did NOT see a lot of those twists coming which centres round Emily. Bloody hell my heart hurt for her.

“Scuplt, I’m different now.”

He moved in close, arm snug around her waist. “Yeah. You’re stronger, sexier, and have an attitude. Makes me want you more.”

 “Dream sweet, Emily.”

Jenny: I was completely enamoured with Emily and I loved this honesty and straightforwardness of her. She had issues and scars from her childhood and both Sculpt and Eme were so damaged in their own was but Eme was refreshing and sweet and the trouble she lands herself in was all the more upsetting because of my feelings for her. Though yes, underneath there was a girl with plenty of spirit!

‘Being scared and excited does something to your body.’

I didn’t see anything coming. I was completely and utterly gobsmacked! I think I shouted WTF about a dozen times at my Kindle. My heart was in my mouth and I constantly read Torn From You with a horrid sense of foreboding constantly following me.

‘Nightmares couldn’t’ compare to this……’

I am so mindful not to give anything away in this story because it was the surprise and shocks in Torn From You that had me riveted and not being able to leave my Kindle for a second in fear I would miss something.

The excitement, the thrill, the hope, the foreboding all made for such a spellbound, breathless and enthralling read for me. I was transfixed on this story from start to finish. Expect the unexpected is all I can say! I was compelling reading for me and the underlying love story between Sculpt and Eme was emotive and potent.

“Some things can’t be repaired. You break them bad enough, they can’t be fixed.” – Eme

That the author could turn me around and have my feelings constantly doing 360 turns was well played indeed.

“Damn it, you tore my fucking heart out.” – Sculpt

There were times I was feeling revulsion, hate and love towards Sculpt. This man undeniably toyed with my emotion that’s for sure! The only reason these books weren’t 5 stars for me was due to a couple of plot holes which were inconclusive, but they definitely didn’t hinder my overall enjoyment of the story.

“You wrecked me.”
