For years, Luke searched for the life that he always wanted to live, running from a past he desperately wanted to forget. He thought he’d found it, that he’d finally escaped everything that was suffocating him, and could breathe for the first time.

And then he met Ash.

Ash showed him that not only was there more to life than he ever imagined, but that love, true love, was the one thing he was still missing. And even in the face of unimaginable tragedy, their love could survive anything.

As dreams of a recording deal suddenly become a reality, the shadows of Luke’s past finally start to catch up with him, and the one person he’s been trying to escape will threaten not only his happiness, but everything he’s worked so hard to achieve. Luke will be forced to face the life he left behind and everything he’s been trying to forget.

J&G: 4 Stars

Jenny:  The I Love You series has been such a unique experience in that we didn’t really have any secondary characters as such because we were afforded the opportunity to hear each character live their own story through present/past narration in each book.  The past and present switches are once again delivered flawlessly and effortlessly as we experience the moving and emotional events that shaped this beautiful, loyal, sensitive and loving man as he sheds the hurt, pain and guilt from his life. It’s been a wonderful journey taken with four people whose lives have been so intricately woven into one another and whose bonds are unbreakable.

“You asked me to fight once, for me, for you, for us.” “Well, now I’m asking you to fight too.”

We’ve followed these characters via the exquisite words of this author, from their heartbreaking beginning to their moving end, it’s hard to say goodbye but after hearing Luke’s story I now feel a sense of contentment about letting them be. Luke’s story really touched your heart didn’t it G?

Gitte: Did it ever, Jenny. In book one, my little grim reaper, Asha broke my heart and made me sob for hours with her tragic story. Now, it was Luke’s time, and wow, did I truly feel his pain.

‘That I want her. That I need her. That I love her.’

Natalie Ward has such a way with words and they touch my heart every time; her characters so real and written with such an emotional connection you know she writes from her heart. You can’t help but connect and feel every word.

“You are my forever.”

I completely agree that the past present changes were effortless and brilliantly unique too. It just flows and to hear Luke’s story, his own, as well as his thoughts and feelings in regards to Asha, well, I fell even more in love with this amazing man.

Jenny: This instalment was always going to be a difficult read and I have be honest and say I went into Luke’s story with trepidation. Sure I was looking forward to it, but we had heard mention of Luke’s Dad and the cruelty he dished out to Luke previously and I wasn’t sure if I was up to Luke’s firsthand account of what he had suffered. Luke’s story saddened me greatly.

“I know exactly the kind of person you are. You are a man who loves deeply, who protects and cares about the people in his life, so much.”

I knew his account of ‘that’ incident was also going to be tough, after all, he was in the front line so to speak and it certainly was that. It was emotional and gut wrenching.

‘I need to change my life. I need to do what I want. I need to live.’

One of my favourite parts of Luke’s story, apart from his intense love of Asha, was experiencing the friendship and how it developed between himself and Jared. This was really special and in Jared, Luke would always have someone who has his back. It was comforting and the banter they shared really did balance out the heavy moments wonderfully. Fate was definitely on hand bringing these four together and I’m so happy I was afforded the opportunity to meet and spend time with them all as they chase their dreams and fulfill their lives. With this being the third book and covering previous events I think it’s best to not talk about the story too much, don’t you agree, G?

Gitte: Absolutely, Jenny it’d be such a shame as this series should be read with no spoilers. We sure have come full circle and I have to say that my heart feels full of love for Luke & Asha as well as Jared and Mia. I feel as if we’ve experienced an epic journey with them. We’ve cried, laughed and swooned, as we’ve heard firsthand, each character recount their emotional and painful story.

“But doesn’t it hurt?”

“More than you can imagine.”

Luke’s story was really hard for me to read, it was so bloody sad and upsetting and yes, to hear his voice during ‘that moment’ from book one was heart-breaking.

‘..I want to look after this girl…I want her to know she’s not alone in this world; that I feel her pain, that I have felt her pain, and that I want to make it go away. I will take it away for her.’

I loved the friendships, the devotion and the support. I loved how strong the characters were, their protectiveness of each other. All of them. I actually want to give them each a hug now that the journey’s over!!

it aint me babe

Sinning never felt so good…A fortuitous encounter.

A meeting that should never have happened.

Many years ago, two children from completely different worlds forged a connection, a fateful connection, an unbreakable bond that would change their lives forever…

Salome knows only one way to live—under Prophet David’s rule. In the commune she calls home, Salome knows nothing of life beyond her strict faith, nor of life beyond the Fence—the fence that cages her, keeps her trapped in an endless cycle of misery. A life she believes she is destined to always lead, until a horrific event sets her free.

Fleeing the absolute safety of all she has ever known, Salome is thrust into the world outside, a frightening world full of uncertainty and sin; into the protective arms of a person she believed she would never see again.

River ‘Styx’ Nash knows one thing for certain in life—he was born and bred to wear a cut. Raised in a turbulent world of sex, Harleys, and drugs, Styx, unexpectedly has the heavy burden of the Hades Hangmen gavel thrust upon him, and all at the ripe old age of twenty-six—much to his rivals’ delight.

Haunted by a crushing speech impediment, Styx quickly learns to deal with his haters. Powerful fists, an iron jaw and the skillful use of his treasured German blade has earned him a fearsome reputation as a man not to be messed with in the shadowy world of outlaw MC’s. A reputation that successfully keeps most people far, far away.

Styx has one rule in life—never let anyone get too close. It’s a plan that he has stuck to for years, that is, until a young woman is found injured on his lot… a woman who looks uncannily familiar, a woman who clearly does not belong in his world, yet a woman he feels reluctant to let go…

“Live free, ride free, die free!”

Gitte: Wow, yeah really, wow! Tillie Cole has just proven how brilliantly versatile she is. What a fan-bloody-tastic Author she truly is to have us reduced to hysterical laughter in her previous work to downright hysterical sobbing in It Ain’t Me, Babe. This story touches every part of your being, emotionally. It breaks your heart into tiny fragments as the words of this Author creates such a vivid and real picture of a subject that is so complex; so taboo. Your heart will be left shattered and exhausted only to soar in hopeful flight the next.

“I have only ever liked one boy in my life. I have only wanted one man to have as my own. I have only ever had one dream…” – Mae

I cannot explain in words how much I loved the story of Styx and Mae; how much I loved these characters, who both took a huge piece of my heart. I was not prepared to feel, to despair to fall in love to this magnitude nor be so deeply engrossed as I truly was and did. This is not just a biker book nor a simple story of a man who falls in love with a woman.

‘He distracted me from the pain. He had been a light in my moment of darkness..’ – Mae

This story is not just words on a page; this is a moving picture that’s been created with love, care and attention. This story is so much more than what it seems.

‘There is nothing on the outside but deceit, sin and death..’

Wow, Jenny, we really went through the ringer here didn’t we?!

Jenny:  Oh my goodness. Will the real Tillie Cole please stand up! What a departure It Ain’t Me, Babe is from her other works! This book certainly highlights the unique and versatile talent of an author whose work we’ve come to love since giggling ourselves silly through Eternally North and I was addicted.  It Ain’t Me, Babe was powerful, raw, gritty, heartbreaking, shocking, yet hopeful and very emotional.  A thought provoking read that left me reeling. Tillie Cole certainly didn’t pull any punches with this story and pull us back and forth through that wringer she certainly did. Gitte, you’re so right, this most definitely is not a mere MC book. It’s so, so much more and I loved every minute!

“Life’s hard. Death’s even harder. No use sugar coatin’ that shit.”

Styx and Mae’s story dragged me in from the start. They were both such fascinating characters in their own right, but together they took on a whole new depth. They shouldn’t have worked but Tillie Cole managed to bring them to life in a way that had me believing in them and feeling their story with them.

“You and me grew up in hell…darkness. She was the first bit of good I ever saw.”

This author painted a picture…. a gripping, uncompromising and heartfelt picture that I won’t forget. She gave me characters who invaded my thoughts and my heart long after finishing.

Gitte: Touching a subject so challenging and sensitive is not an easy feat but the way in which Tillie Cole wove together different elements of society into such a intricate storyline was nothing short of outstanding. So powerful, so heart-breaking and it truly beggars belief. Yet sadly, we know this happens. She created such multi-faceted characters who truly came alive and felt so incredibly real and true to who they ultimately were. It created something unique, something refreshing. It was like a breath of fresh air, even though my breath was laboured and troubled whilst reading. As for Styx, wow what a man. WHAT A MAN!!!

‘We were always fated to be together. He is my everything. He is my entire world…my salvation.’

He’s up there with my all-time favourite male book characters. And Flame…well if I could beg and plead I would, for Tillie to please write his story; he fascinated me beyond words! Bring on more right, Jenny?!

Jenny:  Tillie Cole managed to effortlessly portray a touching love story set amidst  the chaos and mayhem of a MC Club, in the shadow of a tough and sensitive subject of a religious Cult where the line between good and evil are well and truly blurred .

“You have a light within you, Styx, and I feel it shining through like the rays of the midday sun. It is beautiful. You are a good man.”

The author took us inside a rough and brutal MC Club where loyalty is paramount, where bonds are not formed of the blood running through your veins, but the bonds of brotherhood. It’s a world where men display their most primal and unrestrained urges, who are a law unto themselves and where protecting what’s theirs is priority, and the world she has depicted is unapologetic and raw. I loved everything about this book. The harrowing account of the Cult was chilling. Her trademark humour was expressed via the camaraderie between the brothers and especially between Ky and Styx, their relationship really was special.  This is a story where we learn that hope, trust, salvation and love can be found in the most unexpected of places and the heart stopping drama and suspense kept me on the edge of my seat!

“You live in hell long enough, babe, you become a sinner too.”

As for Styx…Wow! Gitte what a man indeed! I can’t even begin to express how much I loved him and agree, he’d have to be up there as one of my favourites as well. Oh and Tillie, if you’re reading this I really need Ky’s story! NOW!!  Either way, just so you know, we both need MORE!

monster in his eyes

Ignazio Vitale is not a good man.

I suspect it, the first time I see him, sense the air of danger that surrounds the man. He has a way of commanding attention, of taking control, of knowing what I’m thinking before I even do.

It’s alarming and alluring. It’s dark and deadly. It’s everything I’ve ever wanted but the last thing I truly need. Obsession.

It doesn’t take him long to draw me into his web, charming me into his bed and trapping me in his life, a life I know nothing about until it’s too late. He has secrets, secrets I can’t fathom, secrets that make it so I can’t walk away, no matter how much I beg him to let me go. I see it sometimes in his eyes, a darkness that’s both terrifying and thrilling. He’s a monster, wrapped up in a pretty package, and what I find when I unmask him changes everything.

I want to hate him.

Sometimes, I do.

But it doesn’t stop me from loving him, too.

 Jenny & Gitte:  5 ++++++ Stars

‘Everything he does is for a reason.’ – Karissa
“I ate you alive sweetheart. You never had a chance.” – Ignazio Vitale

Gitte: This right here, this is why I love to read!! Ladies and Gents this book is perfection….this book gives you a kick up the arse; this book DEMANDS to be read. Make this your next book…..DO IT and be wowed.

“Who are you then?” – Karissa   “Someone you should stay far away from.” – Naz

The writing is sublime perfection. The pacing, the passion and thrilling suspense, the evocative and provoking of emotions. The fantastic character of Ignazio Vitale (Naz) who was quite simply fascinating and had an incredibly intense presence. This man is fan-bloody-tastic! I should be scared, I should feel anger….but no….

‘I want to play his game with him.’ – Karissa

The chills, thrills and the strength of emotions this man drew out of me through the words of this Author….I was left speechless and breathless! So controlling, so possessive, so dangerous and enigmatic.

“I’m not going to hurt you….Unless you want me to.”

JM. Darhower nails it again. Monster in His Eyes is another winner from this amazingly talented Author! Jenny, now do you realise why I’ve been nagging you to pick up this Author….NOW do you get it?

JennyI’m sleep deprived and still in a book coma, but mostly I’m in awe!  Like you Gitte, I feel as if I want to stand up and shout “READ THIS BOOK. BE AMAZED!!”  And  yes my book soul mate, I get it and your nagging is completely justified. J M Darhower floored me with her talent and Monster in His Eyes was a brilliant introduction to her work. This book completely blew me away. I’m still processing and trying to formulate words to adequately express my reading experience though it’s not an easy task!

‘Love means seeing the beauty in the ugly, the light in the dark, and accepting it even if the lights are off. ‘

You’re spot on, because this really did personify why reading is my passion. The emotion, secrets, suspense, drama, danger, intrigue, the brilliant characters created and the revelations that unfolded were all powerfully and flawlessly brought to life by an author who ensured my book addiction was fed and the experience left me breathless!

‘I’m beautiful. I’m special. I’m his.’

Nothing around me existed until I read the very last word of this book. Absolutely amazing!

Gitte: The twists and dark suspense were so plentiful that this journey left exhausted. My emotions all over the place, my heart beating like the clappers as I followed the sweet and innocent Karissa embark upon a journey that would rock the foundations of her life and her very being, as Naz sweeps her up in a dangerous and passionate inferno.

“It was wrong…fuck, so wrong of me to want it, to want you, but I couldn’t resist.” – Naz

Our phone messages went back and forth as we read Monster in His Eyes didn’t they, Jenny. We pondered plot twists, we had our theories and we swooned and gasped together through this one…what a journey it was! It was bloody brilliant and now we’re gagging for the conclusion aren’t we!?!

Jenny:  I think our phones were as exhausted as us by the end of this G! Nefarious dealings, heart stopping shocks, sinister twists, intense intrigue and plentiful helpings of passion and steam.

“I’m warning you. I’m not a good man, Karissa, and I never will be. So don’t think you can fix me, or that I’ll ever change, because I won’t.”

Handsome, enigmatic, romantic yet sinister Naz, who had my heart racing with expectation one minute and trepidation the next. Young, beautiful and innocent Karissa who entices every part of this intriguing and mysterious man all equated to one very lively and long book debriefing that took us well into the wee small hours of the morning.  We couldn’t get enough!

“I’ve never met a Naz before.”………. “I like to think I’m one of a kind.”

Ignazio NazVitale…what can I say? As dangerous as he was swoonworthy, he set my pulse racing yet gave me goosebumps in equal measures. OMG Gitte, we will be hanging out for the conclusion to Naz and Karissa’s story. The wait will be excruciating but sooo worth it! All we can say about Monster In His Eyes is…..Buy it. Read it. Devour it!

the resistance

You don’t choose when.

You don’t choose where.

And you don’t get to choose who you fall in love with.

The minute he opened his sexy mouth, Holliday Hughes should have known Jack Dalton was trouble. His smooth pickup lines, broad shoulders, and ridiculously handsome face charmed her right out of her clothes. She gave into her desires, the instant attraction blinding her to the obvious.

One night. That was all it took for Holliday’s world to be flipped on its axis. Jack Dalton was cocky. Smug. Volatile. Demanding. He ignited something deep inside her like no other, but there was something more to this brooding bad boy. There was a dark side to him she couldn’t help but be drawn to.

Torn between what she knew about him and a mysterious side he tried to hide, could she walk away or was he simply too hard to resist?

“I’ve got a dark side that slaughters hopes and dreams on a daily basis.”

Jenny:  Well didn’t this book take us by surprise a few times Gitte, and in a really good way I might add. The prologue grabbed me immediately, I inhaled every word and the author had me engrossed and falling in love with Dalton, Holliday and their story from the get go. And..We’re not giving anything away about this story because surprise is the element here!

“You’ve always been in here,” he says, patting his chest over his heart. “We just hadn’t met yet.”

Cue the happy face right about now because I absolutely loved The Resistance. What about you?

Gitte: Oh wow, I bloody loved this one. I fell in love with all the characters, loved the surprises and twists. Loved the writing; the emotion conveyed through the words to me, the reader.

“Be my angel. Just for the night.” – Dalton

I just couldn’t put this one down I was quite simply swept away in the story of Dalton and Holliday.

Jenny:  Holliday and Dalton were such refreshing characters. The story, though we’ve read this theme a few times, felt quite different and completely enthralled me.  Holliday was so strong, loving, beautiful, successful and so forthright. No back and forth procrastinating with this woman. She wore her heart on her sleeve and she never caused me a minute of frustration.

“I can’t battle your demons, Dalton.” – Holliday

She was a perfect balance for the volatile, troubled and loving Dalton don’t you think Gitte?

Gitte: Absolutely, as you say we’ve read similar stories before, but this one felt unique. The context and symbolism so enticing and heartfelt.

“Dare to dream….For without dreams we have nothing to look forward to.” – Holliday

The romance evoked such strong emotions in me. Holliday was definitely a strong female character; she was real and no-nonsense. Her strength was immeasurable; her support and her sense of self inspiring.

Jenny: Jack Dalton. Wow! What can we say about this beautiful, tortured and conflicted man? I loved him! He was divine and L S Scott brought Dalton, with all his demons, secrets, passion and insecurities to life so vividly. Dalton certainly stole heart. I believed him. I felt every emotion he felt and as much as he tried me a few times, my heart really went out to him as he out to him as he struggled to come to grips with who he was and the feelings he was experiencing.

“You see my flaws and my good side. You see who I am, not just what others want me to be.” – Dalton

There were a few surprises and twists along the way in this fantastic read that I couldn’t put down. Passion, romance, swooning, lots of heat, a gorgeous book boyfriend and a strong relatable heroine. A definite recommend from me and I really hope we hear more from Dalton & Holliday because I didn’t want to say goodbye, and more Danny too don’t you think Gitte?

Gitte: Oh, Dalton owned my heart whilst I was with him; I went through every emotion he did and I understood his pain, his struggle and his desire for normalcy; his want of pure untainted love. Love in its basic form, free of pre-conceptions and labels. A love that came in the form of a girl who believed in herself and demanded to be heard, respected and loved. A girl who saw past a façade, past the imperfect to see the -truth- the perfection and the love.

“Don’t ever lose yourself in somebody else…It’s hard to remember who you used to be if they disappear.

I have to say I felt sad to let them all go, Jenny. And absolutely, I hope we hear more, especially from Danny too!! Danny needs his man-card back! ♥

“Having you is enough. Having you is the only thing I need.” – Damien

The Other F Word was Flirty, funny, feeling, fulfilling and fab-u-lous! I’ve been dying for more of this series since falling in love with these characters in The Other C Word. I particularly love how this author takes sensitive subjects and injects light-heartedness into her stories. One minute you’re laughing with her characters, the next minute your welling up with them. In The Other F Word, MK Schiller once again serves up a big dose of heart, plenty of swooning, lots of giggles and a very high steam factor! This series will be a 1click for me with every book.

I’ve missed the warm and whacky Mason family and the extended Masons and once again reveled in joining them around the dinner table to partake in some friendly banter, sarky wit and the hilarious innuendos that MK produces so flawlessly. Seriously, how do I always manage to giggle at the “pussy” comments. Does me every time! MK Schillers portrayal of this family is absolutely wonderful and her writing draws me in from the start.

Emmie Mason has selflessly and singlehandedly raised 3 beautiful daughters and each is a credit to her. What they lacked materially growing up, Emmie more than made up for with love, understanding and instilling in her daughters the importance of who being who they are. Music and humour plays a big part of their lives and I especially love how MK Schiller weaves this into her stories. We learnt Marley’s (Emmie’s daughters) story in book one and the guilt Emmie feels in regards Marley still eats away at her as Emmie faces life on her own for the first time.

“It’s because you’re my everything. I know the sacrifices you made for me and the guilt you carry in your heart. I want you to stop.” – Marley

Now with all her children flying the coop, forty four year old Emmie finds herself looking to sell the large family home which is a bittersweet decision as she looks forward to the next phase of her life, yet leaving behind a place where so many beautiful memories were made and built, and good times were shared is difficult for her.

Emmie doesn’t have any plans beyond selling her house, but one thing she didn’t envisage was one divine, single, ridiculously sexy, gorgeous 30 year old Mr Damien Wolfe……*insert a very heavy sigh here*….. entering her life at this time.

” A man like Damien Wolfe is as dangerous as meth – highly addictive and devastating.” – Emmie

Wow! I was seriously in love with this man. His humour, his kindness, his possessiveness, his hotness…. and the way he treated Emmie….yep, I was completely smitten!

Even though I understood Emmie’s reluctance due to the age difference, I have to say her indecisiveness frustrated me at times. Still, she wasn’t going to phase Damien with her worries, all he saw was a sexy, warm and beautiful woman  and the near 15 year age difference between him and flirty, sexy Emmie didn’t appear to be an issue.

“Sure there would be pros to having a relationship with an older woman……….”We’d probably get discounts on meals…but then again, we’d have to eat dinner at four o’clock. ” – Damien

I really did Emmie and Damien’s story and they certainly managed to shred my heart a time or two throughout.  Damien’s past, when revealed was gut wrenching. You wonder if these two make it through. After all, the heart may know what the heart wants, but is that always enough? I loved the Other F Word. I laughed with her characters and I cried with them with them, and was I completely engrossed every step of the way.

“You don’t have any scars.” – Emmie
“They exist. They’re just not visible. You make them better. You heal me……” – Damien

On a side note: I almost want to give a star just for the music choice! Seriously… had me at The White Stripes, Rodriguez and Pink Floyd! I was in my element!  Not to mention the visual of Mr Wolfe getting all hot and sweaty to Seven Nations Army while fixing the water heater in his painting jeans….oh dear lord……………….

I’d definitely recommend adding this series to your TBR’s. I can’t wait for book three and I really, really hope it’s Billie’s story and that Derek is included in there somewhere! 😉
