“Why do I feel like I’ve known you all my life?”
Tillie Cole can do no wrong in our eyes and RAZE is another testament to her brilliant storytelling, her versatility and her in depth detail and research. Her ability to have us live the story alongside the characters; our emotions and senses fully charged our gasps and tears as real as theirs.
“Open your eyes…” He placed his hand over his heart..”I’ve seen too many bad things with these eyes. This, I will feel in my heart.”
Raze had us so engrossed life came to a standstill. The rawness and sheer pain had us gasping for breath as the story was incredibly fast paced and utterly gripping. We just couldn’t put it down we needed to know what the next page would bring and we have to admit to being scared through parts of this story. Raze and Kisa has to be one of our favourite book couples – the peace they bring each other and the pure intense love – their journey. Our hearts broke, overflowed and melted at the mercy of the words of Tillie Cole.
A Boy is taken from everything he knows; conditioned by hate, terror, violence and death. He knows nothing except revenge and a name – Alik. He knows how to kill…it’s all he knows and he lives and breathes violence through no choice of his own. After all; we do what we have to in order to survive in the only way we can.
A Girl in invincible shackles; used – abused mourning her freedom and the loss of her heart – the loss of her love. Kisa knows cruelty first hand – Alik.
RAZE felt original; it felt new and unique. The only issue for why this wasn’t a 5 star read is the inconsistencies that were quite profound at times in respect to Raze our hero as the story unfolded. Such a bloody shame as when they occurred they halted our reading and took us out the atmospheric moment. Despite this, it was very clear to us that Tillie Cole wrote this story from her heart, a story she wanted and needed to tell. A story that meant something to her. And wow did we feel it. RAZE was dark it was violent and filled with pain, drama and twists. But it was also intensely passionate, romantic, inspiring and beautiful.
“They were always meant to be together, one boy and one girl, two hearts split in two, sent to far-off lands on their own….”
We defy anyone not to fall in book love and lose their hearts to fighter 818; the wronged and tortured hero. RAZE is not an easy read; it’s gruesome and it hurts so bad at times but the beauty is breath-taking; the words pounding on your heart demanding to be let in.
“Welcome to Hell, Boy.”
