“Day or night, I see only you.”

First of all let’s start at the end, because we can. It has to be said; Jodi Ellen Malpas sure knows how to write a kick-arse epilogue. We had the tingles and our hearts went into overdrive as they both melted and swooned through happy tears as well as laughter. Again, what a stunning end to a trilogy. A beautiful present wrapped up in sparkly paper with a huge scrumptious bow. Perfection. Jodi Ellen Malpas is a class Author and a fantastic writer of stories that burrow deep, entertain and have you reaching for an icepack to cool those hot flushes right down.

“I’ll love you until there’s no breath left in my lungs, Olivia Taylor. For eternity.”

Right, now that’s said we have to say that we’ll NEVER forget the beautiful Mr Hart. He stole our hearts in Denied and he never gave them back and we’re perfectly okay with this. He’ll keep a tight hold of them forever. We loved everything about him; his idiosyncrasies; the way he loves with everything he is and his passion and devotion. His thing. Miller Hart was perfect imperfection and we’ll miss him. Terribly.

“I love your bones, Miller Hart.”

He was the ultimate highlight of this series. Our hearts broke for him; they rejoiced with him, they swooned for him and they ended up belonging to him.

“You are my soul, Olivia Taylor. You are my light. You are my reason to breathe. Don’t ever doubt that. Be mine for eternity, I beg you. Because I promise I am yours.”

Now, the sweet, slightly naïve and hot-headed Olivia Taylor. She really came into her own in this final instalment; we saw her strength yet again and she had us wanting to both hug her and applaud her sassiness. In some respects, for want of a better expression, she grew some balls and went all out to protect what’s hers – Miller Hart.

“I need you with me, Livy. I feel like I’m constantly balancing on the edge of a black hole that’ll swallow me up and take me back to complete darkness with one slight wrong move.”

Unveiled is a book of revelations as every lie and secret comes to the surface. There’s some shockers in store as we finally learn the truth about Miller and the back story to his sweet girl Livy. Our hearts may have broken a little bit whilst wanting to jump into the story and kick some arse.

“I’ll be here for you, Always.”

‘I fucking love her! I love her. I love everything she stands for and I love how much she loves me. If any fucker tries to take her away from me, then I’ll fucking kill them. Slowly.’

Whilst we did love the romantic and passionate Miller time and sweet and funny moments with Nan who’s without doubt our fave Nan out there; we did find the build up to the final crescendo a bit slow. We think the main issue we’ve had with Denied and Unveiled is the repetition and tendency for verbosity. For us, sadly, once we got to the exciting and dramatic crux of the reveal it was over very quickly. However, we have to say that the epilogue more than made up for that and we finished reading with a satisfied smile on our faces.

‘An eternity of this still couldn’t ever be enough.’

SEDUCING DESTINY (The Fae Chronicles #4) by AMELIA HUTCHINS

Seducing Destiny

SYNOPSIS

Less than six months ago my life was twisted and flipped on its side. Things have changed so much I barely recognize myself anymore.

I am no longer an Enforcer.

I am no longer a Witch.

I no longer hate the Fae. (For the most part)

And the sex-on-a-stick-gorgeous-Fae? He isn’t really the Dark Prince.

No, he is the father of my children and with the babies on the way, the land dying and the Mages closing in; alliances will have to be formed if we are all to make it through the war that is coming to our front door.

Between warring Gods and Goddesses, how are any of us supposed to win?

✯✯✯1/2Freaking hairy Fairy balls stars!

“I love you, I’ve loved you since the moment you walked into my world, and always will.”
This is your love it has to be. I can’t breathe. I can’t fucking breathe without you, Synthia Raine.”

Honestly, the Fae Chronicles series has become like book crack to us! We can’t stop at one and we’ve been desperately awaiting the release of Seducing Destiny to feed our fucking Fairy cravings! Although this wasn’t our favourite book of the series, it certainly fed our addiction and left us intrigued about what’s coming next.

Amelia Hutchins has such a talent for transporting us into her make believe world (or is it?) where she ensures we become part of her fantasy. She has created this world so vividly and so masterfully that we found ourselves beginning to question if this Fae World of hers really does exist because it certainly felt so in our imaginations.  Okay, really that’s just wishful thinking on our part as man we’d love to bump into that Filthy Faery, Ryder!

“If you run, I will find you. I’ll always find you, Synthia. That’s not a threat, it’s a promise.”

This author writes her stories and her characters with humour and excitement, bringing every ounce of her story to life, enveloping us in the enchantment of the Faery Realm, where dangerously beautiful manipulative Fae reign supreme.  For a world where lies can’t be told, these sneaky, twisted little buggers sure can spin the truth.

‘Some people cannot be reached, but I’d like to belie that people could be saved from the evil that festered in their souls.’

In Seducing Destiny Amelia Hutchins once again brought about a fantasy that had us gasping at the revelations, shaking our heads and wondering what would come next and following Ryder and Synthia as they adjust to life in a very different way than what they’re used to.

As we said, whilst this may not have been our favourite of the series, though we did enjoy it nonetheless. Come on… what’s not to love?  It’s all there. Raging heat, good guys, exhilarating plots, bad guys…though it’s sometimes hard to tell who’s who in this world of hidden-truths and treachery, searing passion, wit and some very, very hot Faeries!

“No, I loved it, but I love how you fuck me. Gentleness is nice, Fairy, but I like the leg shivering, hair pulling, sweaty bodied, earth shattering fucking that you always give me.”

We’re still on a quest to save Fairy and a few other plots that had our hearts racing – from suspense, excitement, thrills, danger and passion. Woahhhhh the passion. Amelia Hutchins sure can write one steamy bloody sex scene and we just want to know one thing…….where can we pick up one of those dream medallions….holy hotness!!!! WE WANT ONE!!!!

“Get over here and fuck me, Fairy.”

Although Ryder was still that dirty Faery we’ve come to know and love, in this installment, he was portrayed a little differently. Sure we see a change in him brought on by his responsibilities but he seemed to lack that fire of previous books, though certainly not the dirty mouth and bedroom prowess! He’s still as sexy, hot, insatiable and filthy as ever!

Fuck…I’m no good at this wooing shit.”

The story did hold us captive and spellbound there’s no doubt about that, though sadly, we didn’t feel the strength of the emotions as we had hoped considering the despair this couple were forced to endure in this story and what followed them through the four books. In other words we expected to cry or tear up but we didn’t quite get there.  We think our issue lay with the choppiness of the story at times. It did tend to jump a little too quickly, therefore not providing us an adequate build-up to unfolding events.

We would begin to hit a heart wrenching moment in the story, only to be whipped around in a different scenario where our emotions didn’t have time to catch up with the story and vice versa. There was one point where we were brought from a scorching hot scene to what should have been a really sad part of the story, but because of the sudden jump and no previous build up, we were only left bewildered and not feeling that emotional pull we should have experienced. The other issue we had was that at times it felt Seducing Destiny became more a building block for upcoming spin off books and that everything else was rushed to include these developing plot lines, leaving some of the story in its wake.

‘I knew I loved him, but love wasn’t strong enough to seduce destiny into giving us what we wanted.’

So yes we had a couple of issues, but despite those, we still enjoyed it and The Fae Chronicles remains one of our favourite paranormal series. We love  the  escapism these stories provide and we’ll keep coming back time and time again for more because our Fucking Faery Fix addiction sees no chance of halting just yet!

SYNOPSIS

ONE GIRL

Battered, barefoot, and huddled under a bookstore awning in the pouring rain, Blue only knows one thing. After fifteen months of captivity, finally… she is free.

TWO FRIENDS

Self-made millionaires JD and Ark are not out to save anyone when they stumble upon a wet and shivering girl one early Sunday morning. But when you sell sex for a living and salvation rings your bell… you answer the call.

THREE SOULMATES

After years of searching, love lifts the veil of darkness, and three people—with three very big secrets—find themselves bound together in a relationship that defies the odds.

Or does it?

Love. Lust. Sex.

This trinity might be perfection… but not everything should come in 3’s.

WARNING: This is a STANDALONE non-traditional M/F/M ROMANCE with a non-traditional ending

✯✯✯✯✯

“I saw her first….”

Wow….what did we just read? Honestly? One of the most twisted surprising stories we’ve had on our kindles in quite some time. It was raw, horrific, disturbing, thrilling, sexy and brutal. It was romantic in an almost anti-romance kind of way if that’s possible.  It was mind-blowing – a head fuck if you will. An intriguing journey that delves into the minds and hearts of three soul mates who each has an abundance of dark secrets and come together for a fierce and explosive crescendo.

‘They are like night and day. Dark and light. Ark. Serious. Brooding, Intense. JD. Charming. Happy. Easy-going.’

This story hits you hard almost immediately, then brings you into a very dark place from which you’re desperate to see the light, maybe even see a butterfly or two, a rainbow even.  But no, and whilst reading you can’t help but think to yourself just where the hell is this all heading? What secret or clue are we missing? The writing is incredibly evocative yet hard hitting in its almost honest no-nonsense approach. The writing takes you to a place that’s so beautifully twisted, so intense – so imperfectly perfect as the case would be.

‘She is not one lost girl. We are not two best friends. We are one trinity of perfection.’

Who are Ark, JD and Blue? What were their purpose and how did the dynamics work? What were their backgrounds and how did they all come to fit together? We were asking ourselves these very questions as we were reading and slowly a simmering frustration grew because we felt like we were observing something where clues were scattered like a puzzle yet never slotted in to complete the big picture. We were unable to see the woods for the trees in other words. Then….then as events unfolded the big aaaah came and our hearts beat frantically; our pulses skyrocketed for other reasons than the incredible passionate heat factor that had been so prevalent so far. Suddenly the sharp turn this story took shifted it to something that very quickly became epic. An epic tale of three soul mates whose one life was made up of sex, lies, violence yet also the ultimate love and compassion.

‘My soul has two mates. I love them equally, and with the same amount of fierce devotion. And I’ll fight to my death to have them both.’

This story is another example of why we love JA Huss so much – of why she’s an automatic 1click. She keeps you guessing; she weaves an intricate plot then pulls the rug from beneath your feet. Three, Two, One is not pretty nor is it your typical romance which perhaps is one of the many reasons we loved it so. It was traumatic and hard to read at times; we struggled with our emotions and feelings towards Ark, Blue and JD for a variety of reasons.

‘I want to make him better. I want to save him the way he saved me.’

We tried to uncover and rationalise this story in our heads as tears ran down our cheeks. And we have to mention that there’s so much freezer time we thought we were going to internally combust whilst our kindles went up in flames. Bloody hell this Author sure knows how to write passionate filthy scenes – some of the hottest m/f/m we’ve ever read that’s for sure. It’ll make a voyeur out of the most reluctant reader and yeah….you’ll definitely want to watch this intensely erotic dark and unique romance play out….though at times with one hand slightly covering your eyes….

‘Not everything should come in threes…..’

KYLAND (A Sign of Love Novel) by MIA SHERIDAN

Kyland by Mia Sheridan

SYNOPSIS

Dirt poor. Hillbilly. Backwoods hick. Mountain folk.

Tenleigh Falyn struggles each day to survive in a small, poverty-stricken, coal mining town where she lives with her sister and mentally ill mother. Her dream of winning the college scholarship given to one student by the local coal company and escaping the harshness of her life, keeps her going.

Kyland Barrett lives in the hills, too, and has worked tirelessly—through near starvation, through deep loneliness, against all odds—to win the Tyton Coal Scholarship and leave the town that is full of so much pain.

They’re both determined not to form any attachments, but one moment changes everything. What happens when only one person gets to win? When only one person gets to leave? And what happens to the one left behind?

Kyland is a story of desperation and hope, loss and sacrifice, pain and forgiveness, but ultimately, a story of deep and unending love.

THIS IS A STAND-ALONE SIGN OF LOVE NOVEL, INSPIRED BY TAURUS. New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

‘Half agony, half hope. Half pain, half ecstasy. Half grief, half joy. Half my downfall, half my saviour.’

When you pick up a new book by Mia Sheridan you pretty much know what you’re going to get; a beautiful written story, a broken and vulnerable male hero with a heart of gold and a sweet and strong heroine as well as a swoon worthy romance set in adversity. Oh and you bet there’ll be tears. Once again Mia gave us just that; yes the formula is reminiscent of previous stories by this Author and there’s a sense of predictability, but….you can’t help but fall in love and have your hearts broken then carefully put back together again.

“I’m not asking you for anything more than you can give. I’m not.”

There’s no question; the brilliance with which Mia Sheridan writes she manages to insert the reader into her world. We see the mountains; we feel the despair and suffering of this small mining town. We smell the lavender whilst tasting the desperation and hopelessness. In some ways the setting and backdrop of her stories almost become the third character.

“What keeps your fire burning?”

“The hope that life won’t always hurt so badly. The belief that I’ll get out of here sometimes – that I won’t be cold or hungry forever. It keeps me going. It’s my fire. It helps me do the things I need to do to survive, and it helps me hate myself less for doing them.”

In amidst the pain and emotional suffering we’ve got Kyland and Tenleigh. They epitomise what Mia writes best; characters who’ve had a hard start in life; who’ve suffered emotionally and not had it easy yet retain their beauty, compassion and survival instinct. Both are struggling yet both are survivors in life.

“You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope.”

This story very much felt like a friends to lovers romance of the soul mate variety. It was a beautiful slow build with an intense attraction and a sweet romantic element. The sacrifices made out of love had us in tears and the hope and inspiration had our hearts soaring. A definite recommend from us!

Kyland is a standalone novel in The Sign of Love Series.

CRAVING RESURRECTION (The Aces MC #4) by NICOLE JACQUELYN

Craving ResurrectionSYNOPSIS

Poet and Amy’s story…

Patrick Gallagher’s future was mapped out—and it didn’t include Amy Henderson or the IRA.

She was everything he’d never wanted. Too young. Too naïve.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t help but be fascinated by the girl who took refuge in his old bedroom, staying with his mum more often than not.

She looked like a Renaissance painting and argued like a solicitor. He couldn’t resist her, and before long, he didn’t even want to.

Instead, he loved her unreservedly… then he married her.

But he couldn’t have prepared for what happened after.

Actions, no matter how large or how small, have consequences—and when the IRA comes knocking, he’s sucked into a life that he’d never anticipated.

Choices were made.

Hearts were broken.

Trust was shattered.

Lives were lost.

Through it all, he loved her.

It was a love that spanned decades.
Epic.
Intense.
Unquestionable.
Unbreakable.

✯✯✯✯✯ highly emotional stars.

‘Poets wrote sonnets about her type of beauty.’

What can we say about Craving Resurrection; honestly we’re quite lost for words and if you read our reviews regularly you‘ll know that this doesn’t happen often. We do tend to go on a bit. We just weren’t prepared for everything that was Craving Resurrection.

“Sometimes, the things we need don’t make sense to anyone else. That doesn’t mean you’re wrong to need them.”

What we do have to say, of which we are sure, is expect the unexpected. This instalment is unlike any of its predecessors insofar as themes, storyline and main characters are concerned. It’s incredibly unique, diverse, highly emotional and incredibly bloody sad. We agonised, cried and our hearts swelled with love and if nothing else we wholeheartedly applaud Nicole Jacquelyn as we think this story took guts and tears to write. We can imagine her sitting at her desk drawing deep from within herself crying tears as she wrote. Yes, that is how much sadness we truly felt over this story. Poet and Amy’s story will pull at your heartstrings; it will make you angry, frustrated, and heartbroken and it will make you believe in soul mates and true love despite everything working against that very fact.

‘I instinctively knew that nothing could hurt me when Patrick was there. It was when he left that bad things happened.’

We go back to the beginnings of Patrick and Amy in rural Ireland. Two youngsters brought together by a caring neighbour and Mum. Amy; according to Patrick:

‘She was everything – messy and emotional and pragmatic and snarky and possessive and beautiful – and I couldn’t go another day without making her mine.’

Amy to us was strength. She was fierce and fought tooth and nail in cruel and violent adversity. Amy was a survivor. She was passionate and loving, pure goodness. She was a woman who loved and lost with forgiveness.

‘Christ, hadn’t she figured it out yet? I’d continue to hold her as long as she’d allow it.’

Patrick was a man misunderstood. A man who made mistakes. A man who’s skills and knowledge was quashed by outside forces placing him in situations beyond his control and comprehension. Patrick loved with all his heart but was ultimately a man of honour and responsibility no matter how misguided. Patrick ultimately had a good heart.

‘I loved him, I didn’t think that would ever change, but I couldn’t get past the fact that he’d ruined my life.’

The journey is harrowing and albeit it a hard read at times due to overuse of Irish vernacular it was nevertheless spell-binding and compelling reading.

‘I understood that everyone made choices that they later regretted, some large and some small. It was human to get it wrong, to not see the larger picture until it was too late. But I didn’t know how to reconcile that with the decisions I’d made.’

A story of love, loss, guilt and missed opportunities that absolutely pulled at our heartstrings. Craving Resurrection can be read as a standalone. Nicole Jacquelyn has become a 1Click author for us and this book only cemented our opinion of her talent. It’s certainly one we’ll be talking about for quite a while. A definite recommend from us both.
