“I feel the need to warn you that, we Royals are pretty fucked up. We’re good in bed, but out of it? We’re like a stage four hurricane.”

You got that right! O.M.G!! What a heady, indulgent and ADDICTIVE read this was! It’s safe to say we were right royally entertained by Paper Princess. We couldn’t put down our Kindles once we started this baby! There was drama, drama, drama, it was over the top but boy didn’t we eat it all up!! And the unresolved ending? In all honesty, we felt it added to the excitement of this book! Because….that ending! OMG! Our mouths hit the floor!

If Paper Princess were a TV show we’d all be gathered around the water cooler at work the next day discussing and exclaiming about this story at lengths! Think Gossip Girl meets Mean Girls meets Cruel Intentions ….toss them together, shake them all up and you have the consummate guilty pleasure cocktail of reading crack!

‘My life is mine. I live it. I control it.’

Our heroine, Ella Harper is down on her luck, having to resort to stripping to put food on the table after the passing of her mother. Ella is alone and sees no way out of her situation. That is, until the day Callum Royal (be still our silver fox hearts!), the head of the Royal clan enters her life, making Ella an offer she can’t refuse. Callum invites her to come and live at the Royal mansion and complete her schooling. No strings. How can Ella refuse? Even if it does sound too good to be true.

‘Some kids dream of traveling the world, owning fast cars, big houses. Me? I want my own apartment, a fridge full of food, and a steady paying job.’

The lustre soon wears off Callums offer when Ella is confronted by Callum’s sons…all five of them! Gideon, Reed, Easton and twins, Sebastian and Sawyer. The Royal guys are self-entitled, spoilt and full of their own self-importance. They live a life of wealth and privilege and one word from the Royals at their school (where money and title is king), has students only too eager to do their bidding. They’re conceited, angry arseholes who take their issues out on poor Ella, and…yup, you guessed it, we LOVED them all and especially the brooding, scowling Reed Royal. What an arrogant arse he was. This man could make Ella (and us) weak at the knees with one angry glare! And the sexual tension and chemistry between Ella and Reed? Blimey riley, it was off the charts, yet we also loved the fun banter in the relationship Ella had with Easton. Now, these guys may be YA in age, however, this story carries some pretty adult themes and for that reason, we feel this book is more NA in content.

‘Reed has nothing to overcompensate for. His oversized SUV matches him perfectly.’

Ella was one plucky young lady. You know the song “I Get Knocked Down But I Get Up Again? Well, that should be Ella Harper’s theme song because this girl takes hits in life yet nothing seems to keep her down. Not only does she have to deal with the Royal boys giving her hell but also has to face being pre-judged by the elite at her new school.

‘I don’t belong in splendour, I belong in squalor. That’s what I know. It’s what I’m comfortable with, because squalor doesn’t lie to you. It’s not wrapped in a pretty package. It is what it is.’

Secrecy abounds between the Royal boys, especially Gideon and Reed who always seem to be huddled in conspiracy type moments. What are they hiding? What are they plotting? What the hell is going on??? And if Ella thought she was damaged…well…the Royal family have issues as long as your arm!

The twists, turns and revelations left us gobsmacked and we implore those readers who feel the need to know parts of a story before going in….we beg you…don’t! You’ll only ruin it for yourselves as the jaw dropping moments that build through the story will be ruined by any type of spoiler. Do yourself a big favour and discover the unfolding as it happens! You’ll be glad you did.

“Maybe I want to be ruined…”
“No one wants to be ruined. We all want to be saved.”

Erin Watt is the pairing of Elle Kennedy & Jen Frederick, who have woven a lustrous, opulent, exasperating, frantic and compulsive story we greedily devoured. This is a collaboration which brought a seamless flow to the story, making it difficult to pinpoint which author had contributed to which parts. And as we said before.. that ENDING!! What a way to end the first installment! We need *stamps feet* the next book NOW!! Like…REALLY….NOW….THIS MINUTE!

Oh and ..not to sound too demanding here but we wouldn’t say not to a Callum Royal book! We loved this charismatic, caring and very sexy man and ohhhh what a story he could tell! Oh yeah folks, the Royals is one deliciously messed up household! DO NOT MISS THIS ONE!

These Royals will ruin you…

From wharf fights and school brawls to crumbling lives inside glittery mansions, one guy tries to save himself.

But when one foolish mistake drives her out of Reed’s arms and brings chaos to the Royal household, Reed’s entire world begins to fall apart around him.

Ella doesn’t want him anymore. She says they’ll only destroy each other.

She might be right.

Secrets. Betrayal. Enemies. It’s like nothing Reed has ever dealt with before, and if he’s going to win back his princess, he’ll need to prove himself Royally worthy.

Broken Prince

Reviewed by Gitte & Jenny

‘My instincts had screamed at me that she was trouble. My instincts were wrong. She wasn’t trouble. I was. Still am. Reed, the destroyer.’

Did Broken Prince live up to the promise that Paper Princess left us with. Hell yeah! It was sweet, sexy, over the top, emotional and a bit cheesy and naff. Sometimes tongue in cheek. But we loved it. We felt like we’d read bits and bobs before but it took nothing away from our enjoyment as we devoured every page to reach *drumroll* an unexpected ending we did not see coming. Well played. Very well played.

“You can’t change anything. The most you can do is keep your head down and survive.”

We have come to love the crazy, mysterious, sexy yet slightly odd family of the Royals. And yeah, we are still seriously crushing on the Dad, Callum. If anything he’s even more wickedly attractive in our eyes. In a way his character highlights the young ages of the Royal lads and the somewhat teenage strops and scuffles. He doesn’t miss a thing and he’s grossly misrepresented to the youngsters. He holds this book together in our opinion. Don’t get us wrong we loved it but it did get a bit silly and over dramatic at times. Disastrous and almost toxic relationships. Violence and bitchiness in the school playground. It was at times like two books in one. Addictive though and no matter what we couldn’t look away.

‘I’ve spent the last couple of years trying to destroy everything around me. Who knew success would taste so bitter.’

Reed reminds us of someone else, he’s incredibly messed up as are the rest of his brothers. Each brother is carrying grief on one shoulder and a burden on the other. Ella seems to be the one who brings the calm to the storm…or is she the eye of the storm? We’ve not quite decided. We just know there’s so much more in store and we are literally counting the days to find an answer to all our loaded questions.

“Is it always like this?”

“Like what?”

“Like my heart is about to burst.”

“You make it sound like I’m trying to kill you.”

“It feels like that sometimes. Sometimes…the way you make me feel scares me.”

“It’s the same for me, and no, it’s never been like this before.”

In Broken Prince, secrets unfold, lies are told and loyalties are tested. We’re always apprehensive reading the second book in a trilogy as it can fall prey to the filler book syndrome. However, we didn’t feel that at all here. In fact we were given just enough to feel satisfied and not enough to stop us from continuing. Addictive is an understatement and the Royals truly will ruin you as they’re royally screwed up. There’s no ordinary in this extraordinary saga which is unravelling before our eyes and once more we were left at a point that left us shouting; no bloody way!!!!

“You don’t know who I am.”

“Yeah, I do. You said it yourself – I see you. I see your hurt and your loneliness. I see your pride….I see your big heart.”
