‘This isn’t a life – it’s a nightmare. A never-ending torment of death and servitude. And the pain has become too much to bear.’
Wow, this story made us cry and think about many relevant aspects to our own feelings and thoughts on life and death. It was such a beautiful written journey for a variety of reasons. The writing was flawless and the characters had such depth and brought a wide spectrum of emotion. The intense feeling of loss and emotional connection was unquestionable as was the message of love and compassion.
‘The wild and beautiful creature may just be the answer. But she needs saving, too, that I can see.’
We were swept away in an unusual romance and found it really difficult to put it down as we needed to know how it was all going to play out. Certain elements were in some ways predictable, however at no stage did those affect our enjoyment. We felt every character; their love and invisible bond and connection.
‘How do I move on without a complete heart? How do I navigate through life with nothing but an empty chest of what-if’s?’
Charlotte was a beautiful heroine who despite her own tragic story brought such hope and closure to others. Her compassionate soul was a ray of light in such darkness and despair. It was riveting to read and we felt her connection to everyone she came across. She also had a feistiness and maturity beyond her years which rationalised situations making her have an ability to stay incredibly strong and focused. To have the capability she embraces after a tragedy which brought her to her knees takes great responsibility. We found it mesmerizing.
‘Sometimes I don’t realize how badly I need something until I see someone else with it. I want to be happy and basking in the glow of early love; that prelude to the delicious things to come.’
Ike and George. We can’t talk about one without the other. Their journey was intrinsically woven into Charlotte’s. Both men had huge hearts and beautiful gentle souls. No wonder Charlotte lost her heart to both for different reasons. They took ours too. Each brought us to tears as we wished for something which could never be. The story went the way it had to and despite the elements it felt so incredibly real and believable. We fell in love with both.
‘I would’ve loved her like she was my last breath. How the hell did we get here?’
Our only real issue is the in depth synopsis; we felt it gave too much away which impacted our enjoyment slightly – it almost came across spoiler-ish. Often less is more, especially when enticing readers to pick up a story. Despite this; we found Where One Goes to be a refreshing, addictive, romantic and tear inducing read which captivated us from start to finish. We HIGHLY recommend this beautiful story by B.N. Toler!
