4.5 ‘everything we wanted’ stars

“We got this, okay?”
“Okay.”

We’ve both loved this series. From book one to On Broken Wings, Chanel Cleeton has ensured we’ve been completely invested in her characters, readily taking them into our hearts and eagerly devouring their stories. Every book has been a winner. We’ve laughed, cried and swooned all the way through, and this was the one we had longed for, the one we were desperate to read. Whilst the Wild Aces series can be read as standalone’s, we’re happy we read all three books as each gave us an insight into each fighter pilot, Noah (call sign Burn), Eric (Thor), with so much heartbreaking insight into Alex (Easy) and Dani’s friendship throughout the series. Was Dani and Easy’s story everything we’d hoped for? It sure was!

‘Love was different once you’d known loss.’

From the outset, Easy had loved Dani from afar. She had captured his heart from the first time he met her, but Dani was married to Easy’s squadron leader and friend, Michael (Joker) and was definitely hands off because despite his gallivanting, Easy was not the type to chase after a married woman and he respected and loved Dani way too much to show his hand and let her know his true feelings, suffering an unrequited love after giving his heart to her completely.

‘I loved her, and loving someone was more about them than you, so it didn’t matter what I wanted.’

We’ve felt his desperation, longing and his love from day one and always hoped he would one day find a love that was returned and yes, we hoped it would be with Dani. This was one of our most anticipated releases this year, and we have to say, Chanel Cleeton delivered on this one. We absolutely loved it. Easy and Dani’s story is easily our favourite of the series!

Easy had been there for Dani every step of the way. He was her friend and greatest supporter. He’d been there for her during her best of times and her worst, painful times.  When Joker was killed on duty, it was Easy who was there for Dani, he was her rock, but being so close to Dani, loving her as deeply and intensely as he did became too difficult for him and he backed away. However, as much as Easy tried to stay away, his feelings repeatedly led him back to Dani as her friend.

‘There was no wall now. Only emotion. So much emotion – raw and naked, staring back at me – more than I knew what to do with. ‘

On Broken Wings begins a year after Jokers death with Dani navigating through life without Joker which is hard when her future and all her plans revolved around Joker.  Struggling to pick up the pieces, it is her friendship with Easy that lifts her and helps her face the day. He gets her, understands her and knows her pain. Easy has faced war and unimaginable challenges, but it is his feelings for Dani and laying his soul bare that would be his biggest challenge.

‘Some women slid under your skin so deep, you couldn’t carve them out no matter how hard you tried.’

The pacing to this story was perfect, the relationship built beautifully and believably and we especially appreciated how Chanel Cleeton never once disrespected the memory of Joker nor did she diminish Dani’s feelings for him in any way to ‘sell’ the love between Dani and Easy. Dani loved Joker with all her heart, but she had to move on. We’re lucky to find love once, finding it twice is a miracle. As their friendship evolves into deeper feelings our romantic hearts soared. Seriously, the ‘aha’ moment left us completely breathless. It was so beautifully crafted, so searing and emotional it gave us goosebumps and made us tear up, yet Chanel Cleeton didn’t make it easy on them in anyway, ensuring we felt every single moment!

‘My heart, my love, my life was somewhere out there, and I couldn’t rest until I knew he was safe.’

Spending time with these sexy, swoony, romantic and alpha fighter pilots, who put their life (and hearts) on the line and experiencing them finding love has been an absolute joy and it’s a series we’ve truly devoured, making it a definite TBB recommendation! Romance, emotion, passion and swoon with vulnerable yet alpha fighter pilots…..What could be better?

Into the Blue

Reviewed by Jenny & Gitte

‘It seemed like my entire adult life had been spent either running from or to this one girl. She was the compass when I was so lost I couldn’t find my way.’

We feel the need! The need for Easy’s book! We’re really enjoying this series and eagerly dive in to meet each of the Wild Aces crew as they strive to find the love of a woman that gels with their passion for F-16 jets…and it’s not easy! Living a transient Military with a man who risks his life every day, who thrives on danger isn’t for the faint-hearted.

Getting to know Eric, call sign Thor, after briefly spending time with him in book one didn’t disappoint and one things for sure… Becca and Eric could steam up the pages! Wow!  They had the heat factor well and truly turned up a notch. But this second chance romance wasn’t all hot passion. There was much that needed addressing and sweeping their unresolved issues under the carpet was not an option, as painful as it was going to be, they had to confront their past.

‘It had taken me years to get over him, years to get to the point where the sound of his name didn’t’ send a dagger through my heart.’

After being together for five years from the time Becca was 17, Eric was all she knew. He was the love of her life and all her firsts. Eric had proposed and had intended spending the rest of his life with Becca and then…..his other love became the focus of his life and he left her to pursue his dream of becoming an F-16 Fighter Pilot, wanting to prove himself capable of being the man she deserved, but in the process he shattered her heart.

“If you can’t be what she needs, then you have to let her go.”
“I did that ten years ago.”
“Did you really? “

Now, ten years later a chance meeting brings them face to face, or was it fate? Neither has moved on or sustained a meaningful relationship during their time apart and it’s apparent the old feelings and resentment lie festering under the surface despite the chemistry that sizzles between them.

After the loss of one of his Wild Aces family, Eric decides he needs to regroup and generally give himself time to grieve and think about his futures. He’s burned out and decides to go back home to Bradbury, a town he turned his back on ten years ago and a place that holds both happy and painful memories for him and a place he hasn’t stepped foot in since his rapid departure.

Eric’s reappearance in Bradbury after all these years shakes Becca to the core as unresolved feelings and old wounds resurface. Eric’s departure is something Becca has never gotten over. When Eric left Bradbury ten years earlier he took her love, her dreams and her future when she realised he had chosen his passion for flying over his love for her. Or, was there more to it?

‘Maybe I was a fool. I probably was. But the thing with love was that once you felt it, it was impossible to turn it off.”

Eric and Becca both carried a lot of baggage and there were a couple of openly moving moments within this story. A particular scene where Becca lays it all out for Eric on what his leaving meant to her is particularly heartbreaking and we couldn’t help but feel every emotion right there with her.

Chanel Cleeton has once again delivered an entertaining, sexy and emotional story. Her imagery so spot on, we felt as though we were sat in the cockpit, soaring through the clouds with Eric, sharing the immense bond of brotherhood within his crew and sharing all the angry and meaningful moments with Becca and Eric as they navigated their way back to each other.

4 flying high stars!

Fly With Me

‘Love was scary enough. Loving a military man was something else entirely.’

We bloody loved this book and Like Jordan, apart from Top Gun (oh and don’t mention that around Noah!!) we don’t think we’ve had much experience with F16 fighter pilots in romances and boy, are we glad we rectified that because holy hell, this book had some insane sexual tension – even our Kindles needed a ciggy and a lie down more than a few times!

‘I didn’t want a caveman, but I wanted a man who knew who he was, and wasn’t afraid to be it.’

Fly With Me was exactly what the book doctor ordered. An entertaining page turner with a perfect balance of witty banter that had us grinning, swooniness that made us giddy, flirty fun, hot as hades men, a heroine who was ballsy, funny and relatable, an alpha hero to die for with a few heartbreaking moments brought into the mix.  Each book is about a different pilot and you can bet we’ll be continuing with more of this series! So many men…so little time….but we’ll find time for these guys!

‘The guy who would bring you breakfast in bed with an orgasm on the side. ‘

For Noah (call sign, Burn) Miller nothing compares to the adrenaline rush of being in the cockpit of his F16 – the speed, the danger…it’s his fix, the military is his life. He’s tried the relationship thing but there aren’t many women willing to make the sacrifices Noah’s career demands. It would take a special woman to live with the strains of Noah’s job, and at 33, he feels ready to settle down but finding the right woman isn’t easy.

Wow! Let’s stop a minute to discuss Noah Miller. His dirty, sexy mouth, a body built for sin, and a romantic heart that had us falling in love and lust with him from day one…… and dear God….we could picture him walking towards us in slo-mo – flight suit undone to the waist, abs rippling, aviators slung on his face and…that V……

‘Holy hell, he had penis cleavage!’

Hmmm where were we? Oh yeah, whilst on a weekend trip for her sister’s hen do, 30 year old Jordan meets Noah and his mates, with the attraction between Noah and Jordan igniting in explosive proportions! We could feel the convincing connection between them! Jordan was a fabulous heroine. We admired her and loved how completely comfortable she was in her own skin. She loved her tits and arse. ‘I was king size – tits and ass that could put your eye out.’ She was a breath of fresh air and knew what she had to offer. She was sexy, voluptuous, funny, smart and a sweetheart. Noah knew a good thing when he saw it but could she, would she give up everything for him?

‘Each part of my body that he touched felt remade, born again to something new, something I’d never imagined. As though I gave those pieces to him, losing myself at the same time I found something I never expected.’

Told in dual POV’s we get to witness the relationship progress between Noah and Jordan which isn’t without its ups and downs as each has to give and take to make things work. Navigating their way through the stresses of separation, life, family and career. It’s not easy under the circumstances!

We loved the ages and life experience of these characters. They’d done the dating thing, had the meaningless sex and broken relationships, there was no crap about them – they knew what they wanted in life and spoke their minds – no unnecessary miscommunication between these two!

Fly with Me was sexy, fun, heart-warming and at times a little heartbreaking. It’s a book we couldn’t put down, providing us with that perfect reading escape. Our only gripe was the ending, which felt a little rushed and would have loved more ‘afters’ however we know we haven’t heard the last of these guys and look forward to catching up with them in upcoming books when we get to know the other luscious fighter pilots who we’ve no doubt will ignite our hearts as much as Noah did.
