SHOW ME, BABY – 1001 DARK NIGHTS (A Master of the Shadowlands Novella – #9) by CHERISE SINCLAIR

show me baby

After his last lover chose her career over him, Jake knows he wants a woman who will put him at the top of her priorities—as he would with her. One of the trainees, Rainie, has caught his attention. Lush body, a gift for living life to the fullest, always laughing or smiling. Yeah. She trips all his switches. But she’s never given him a second look and that’s damned annoying.

Rainie has been burned enough times that she’s not going to get serious about any man. Sure, the BDSM club trainees are supposed to be looking for a permanent Dom, but no harm, no foul—they don’t need to know she lied. Trainees get to be involved in everything—and with everyone. But there’s one she avoids. Master Jake is always frowning at her. No matter how gorgeous he is, she doesn’t need any disapproving Dom up in her business.

Unfortunately, her best friends are having a double wedding. Little hearts are floating in the air. Every breath is filled with romance. Rainie is doomed.

This series never fails to have me inhaling every word written and just indulging in the brilliance that is Cherise Sinclair. Every instalment provides raw emotion; romance, passion and great characters. I can’t really fault any story in this series and highly recommend it. I’ve enjoyed them all, some more than others sure, but there’s no question that this is one of the best BDSM series out there. As always, in my opinion, this series should be read in order as it centres round the BDSM club – Shadowlands and you form a relationship with all the characters along the way.

I loved Show Me, as not only did we get Master Jake and Rainie’s story we also had Gabi and Sally’s joint bachelorette party and wedding which was so bloody sexy and funny! Catching up with the whole gang was brilliant, I love them all and I never fail to immerse myself fully in their world every time I pick a new story up. It always feels like I’m coming home to spend time with friends when I pick up a new book in this series.

‘He’d saved her….He made her feel special.’

Master Jake was LUSH; every Dom in Shadowlands has that attractive sexy protective nature, the addictive passionate raw sexuality. Well, Jake also had a romantic streak with a hint of vulnerability and a nurturing side.  Jake is perfection in a complete package, oh and add to that, a bit of a filthy mouth.

And Rainie, well what can I say? She felt so real and this is something that’s a given in most of Cherise Sinclair’s stories. The heroines are people you ‘know’; their inner struggles completely believable. It makes reading their journeys that much more heart-warming and you can’t help but empathise, feel and rejoice with them in their journey to find their perfect Master.

‘Everyone had let her down. In a way he’d been part of her trauma. That ugly revelation still grated through his system.’

Rainie had such insecurities and suffered the after effects of a traumatic childhood. Yet her loyalty and strength was quite something. She showed that she’s so much more than the sassy and naughty trainee sub at Shadowlands.

“God,” she moaned.

“I usually suggest Sir or Master, but I suppose God is adequately respectful.”

Show Me is a novella and in a way I felt that a little bit. Not for character development or storyline though. I just wish we’d had more background on Jake and Rainie as well as more ‘afters’. We got some but I’d have loved more.

And my oh my….Master Marcus…my favourite Shadowlands Dom is back and I loved every scene he was in, being back with my man…..swooning and reminiscing. Made me want to re-read his story! Now, I’m not sure whose story’s next but I’m hoping its Mistress Anne’s!!! Bring it on….

THIS IS WHO I AM (Masters of the Shadowlands #7) by CHERISE SINCLAIR

this is who I am

When trying to save a woman from slavers, Sam screwed up. Royally. Now Linda wants nothing to do with him. Or with BDSM. She won’t even admit she’s a masochist. As a dominant and sadist, he can give her what she needs, and when an opportunity arises, he slips into her life, intending to make amends. She’s everything he knew she would be…except for her bullheaded determination to be ‘normal’.

Now the horrible time is past, Linda just wants to return to her small conservative town, pick up her quiet life, and be normal. But how can someone who likes pain be ‘normal’? To her dismay, when someone spray-paints her home with obscenities, Sam shows up to rescue her. Again. Doesn’t he understand that the last thing she needs in her life is a sadist? He’s amused by her objections. But his dry sense of humor can’t disguise that he’s tough as nails and dominant and stubborn. He’s not going to let her drive him off this time. Soon she realizes she wants him to stay.

When he takes her to the Shadowlands, she feels as if she’s found a home…until she hears a voice from out of her nightmares.

Cherise Sinclair has done it again but I never doubted she would. If you enjoy a dramatic and thrilling escape in the world of BDSM, then this series is a must read. This Author is by far one of my favourite Authors in this genre. She treats it with respect, care and responsibility. She leaves the reader in no doubt of the heightened emotions and dangers. She writes her characters with the outmost of care and attention and enables the reader to understand and feel. Even with such a sensitive subject as what was the case in this seventh instalment.  I would highly recommend reading this series in order for continuity and story. Though each has a HEA so no cliff-hangers.

This story is about Master Sam the sadist and Linda who is reluctant to openly admit that she’s a masochist.

“She wanted that ruthless part of him. With him she wouldn’t have to beg for more, because he’d force her to where the sharp edge between pain and pleasure slipped away, and he’s keep her there, where her soul was bared to him.”

Both are mature adults and I have to say, this in itself is such a refreshing change.

When we begin this story we find Linda who’s just been rescued from slavery. One of the players in the rescue was Master Sam, so they already have a shared history. The emotional connection between them is tense and upsetting to say the least due to the circumstances of the rescue and their respective involvement. In an ideal world they should be the perfect fit. However, that road is not an easy one as both have a past that’s marked them in a traumatic way. A substantial amount of healing and acceptance is needed and worked through. Whether they can help each other with this one is what’s explored in this story.

I thought Sam was a really interesting character; he has fascinated me from when I first met him in previous books. He’s a formidable man, quite intimidating, yet there’s just something about him. I have to say the way he carries himself, the way he cares, protects and respects.

“Baby, once you gave me your trust, you were a peach ready to be plucked, and there was nothing you could do about it.”

Sam’s extreme masculinity and male sensuality that runs alongside that tough and hard exterior; his intensity well he certainly got to this reader.

“You hugged Master Sam?”

I totally would too….Mind you, if I met him in real life I’d most definitely run the other way as fast as I could. But this is fiction right?!

“I feel safe around you.” Her throaty laugh was rueful. “Isn’t that the damnedest thing?”

As for Linda, bless her. She’s so confused by her wants and needs; so vulnerable still after everything she’s endured. She has survived something so awful and degrading that you can’t help but admire her and wish for her happy ending. She’s incredibly strong and brave and you just want her to find that happiness and realise there’s nothing wrong with who she perceives herself to be or who she really is; what she really wants.

“Humans need to think we can affect fate and control our destiny. Maybe we can to an extent, but sometimes shit just happens.”

Sexual abuse is a tough subject to write about and I have to say this Author handles it in such a way I want to give her a standing ovation. Yes the subject in this story may turn people off or be too much; however, if anyone can do it justice it’s this Lady! I experienced every emotion possible in this story as the characters came to life in front of my eyes through the brilliant writing of Cherise Sinclair.

“Learn to stand up. Learn to fall down. Life’s lessons didn’t stop; they continued to the day of death. And I’m alive.”

My Liege of Dark Haven (Mountain Masters #3) by Cherise Sinclair

This Author is my absolute go to when I have that urge for a bit of sparkly indulgent kink! Cherise NEVER disappoints and with the third instalment of the series ‘Mountain Masters’ she proved yet again why she truly rocks BDSM kink as well as her gorgeous emotionally tortured heroes and heroines!

Her writing is brilliantly flawless in this genre, bringing to life her story with such intensity and making the journey so very vivid that you get under the skin of her characters.

The story of Xavier and Abby is ultimately a beautiful romance. Both characters have not only got a troubled past but present too. Each of them feeling lonely and lost yet not necessarily consciously admitting to this. They have erected walls around themselves in order to live day to day suppressing their ultimate needs and wants.

Abby is an intelligent, sweet and very insecure woman. Under pressure to keep her position as a Professor she decides to do a research paper on BDSM at Dark Haven.  Unbeknownst to Abby she enters a world she was meant to be in but with little to no knowledge of BDSM she is immediately noticed by the Liege of Dark Haven; Xavier who is not only a gorgeous dominant but the owner.  Their journey begins from a simple misunderstanding and ends up changing their lives.

This story has romance, passion, true emotional moments, amazing characters and it has the trademark Cherise humour!

We also get to revisit old characters which I loved and there’s even a tie in with Shadowlands (another great series!)

Warning: This is BDSM so yeah, you know what that means…A LOT of naughty “wink wink; nudge nudge” but if you’ve read and love Cherise Sinclair like I do then you want to read this series ;0)
