Beautiful Disaster (The Maddox Brothers) by Jamie McGuire

SYNOPSIS

The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand.

Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby needs—and wants—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

Review – 5 Star Review

First off this book is a Mature YA.  Thought we’d get that out the way first.

This book was responsible for starting my reading addiction.  I read it in one sitting and Travis stole my heart.  I call this my “thank god” book, because this was the first book to gave me that “book high” I’ve come to love so much, even if it did give me a major post book funk because I knew I HAD to find something else to give me the same feeling.. My friend and I tandem read this and it became known as our “book crack” – we just couldn’t get enough of it.

What’s it about?:

The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate percentage of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance between her and the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by EasternUniversity’s Walking One-Night Stand.

Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match

Let me tell you this, the synopsis doesn’t even begin to describe the rollercoaster journey this book will take you on, you have to read it and experience it first hand.

Travis Maddox is one of my favourite fictional characters.  He’s has it all going on… that bad boy, can’t be tamed, pleases himself with no regard for consequences, he’s a love ’em and leave ’em guy….until the day Abby comes into his life.  The chemistry between these two is palpable and the developing relationship is something you feel.  With every fibre of your being you feel it!

You will fall head over heels in love with Travis and Abby and their story will have you riveted.  This is a book you won’t be able to put down and one you will immediately want to read again and again.

Once you enter the world of Beautiful Disaster there’s no turning back.  You will be hooked!

I love this author.  I’ve read her other books (if you haven’t then you should) and she never ceases to amaze me.

I’ve recommended and gifted this book to so many people and they’ve all experienced what has become known as the the “BD addiction”

Eden (Providence, #3) – by Jamie McGuire

I was so excited when this came out early…It’s like waiting for Christmas (which is my fave time of year) and thinking it’ll never come…then you wake up and it’s suddenly here and you feel all excited and wired and you want it to last because it’s so special. Well I tried…to make it last but once I hit about 50% I didn’t put it down again, I couldn’t!!

This is without doubt my favorite book in this series. It starts from where Requiem left off and the ride was a slow build start then suddenly it took off and there was no room to breathe what with all the twists and turns! I don’t want to say too much cause I don’t want to spoil this for anyone!!

I cried, chuckled, came over all unnecessary (lol how polite is that!!) and had to look away (yes I do that and yes I know a kindle isn’t a TV but well written words are just as scary!!). Some of the action scenes are seriously cool and I had all sorts of crazy images in my head which were straight out of “Shaun of the Dead”.

All the characters are so well written and you can’t help but love them and feel attached and protective, especially after 3 books, which is why I’ll miss them!! I would love to find out what happens to Claire&Ryan and Bex!! I’ve got to say as well…Jared…OMG I was a mess during his vows…WOW!!! He is just about one of the most PERFECT blokes…yeah actually I think he just might be!!

I hated the point where I realized I was close to the end…but then the epilogue..well that just made me all warm and satisfied. Perfect!!!

Jamie McGuire you are FAB-U-LUSH!!!
