— Midnight Mass might have to wait —

All Seth wants is a Christmas Eve to remember, with the man he loves. When Dom invites him to Paris, his dreams are about to come true. But the man waiting in the apartment they are to stay at changes the course of the trip. To Seth’s surprise, religion is a bigger issue for Dom than he’d thought, and it’s on a collision course with Seth’s atheism.

Who doesn’t swoon at the thought of a cold and snowy Christmas in Paris with the one you love?! The smell and feel of the Parisian Christmas markets. Well, we could definitely smell the mulled wine and feel the romance of Paris at Christmas as KA Merikan once again wowed us with their brilliant atmospheric writing.

We love Seth and Dom, so to spend some time with them no matter how short is always special; they make us swoon, laugh and give us the shivers. Seth our lovable sweetheart whose childlike excitement melted our hearts in this novella. Once more he showing his petulant side borne from jealousy and a religious clash with Dom. And Dom, our arrogant and wicked lovable rogue whose strong beliefs and tactless action caused such friction and despair.

‘Seth never felt this lonely in his life.’

‘How would he live his life after experiencing that soul-ripping storm?’

Christmas is almost ruined as a result of a thoughtless decision, possessiveness and stroppy jealousy. But Christmas has a magical touch and our lads have huge lovable hearts. So Christmas in Paris was passionate, emotional and sexy. What a treat!

GUNS N’ BOYS – BOOK ONE : PART TWO (Guns n’ Boys #1.2)by K A MERIKAN

guns two

SYNOPSIS

Guns n’ Boys needs to be read in order.
This is the second part of book one.

— Love is sour like a Sicilian lemon. —

The Family is always right.
The Family doesn’t forget.
The Family pays for blood in blood.

Domenico Acerbi grew up in the shade of Sicilian lemon trees ready to give his life for the Family. Ready to follow orders and exceed expectations. A proud man of honor.
When Seth, the younger son of the Don is kidnapped, it’s Domenico who is sent to get him back. The man he finds though, is not the boy he knew all those years ago. Lazy, annoying, spoiled, and as hot as a Sicilian summer.

Seth Villani wants nothing to do with the mafia. Unfortunately, he doesn’t get a say when the Family pulls him right back into its fold after his mother’s death. Thrown into a den of serpents otherwise known as the Villani Family, Seth has to find a way to navigate in the maze of lies. But when Domenico Acerbi, the most vicious snake of them all, sinks his fangs into Seth, the venom changes into an aphrodisiac that courses through Seth’s veins.

Domenico knows his life is about to change when he gets the order to train Seth up to the role of future Don. Seth isn’t made for it. He isn’t even made. But a man Domenico knows he would never have to fear might just be someone he’s always needed.

If Seth is doomed to follow in his father’s footsteps, he might as well enjoy himself–with the most intoxicating man he’s ever met. Maybe he can even fool himself into believing that Domenico isn’t a handsome sociopath who kills for a living.

J&G✯✯✯✯✯ 5 Lemon Cupcake Stars!

‘The Family is always right.
The Family doesn’t forget.
The Family pays for blood in blood.’

Gitte: I absolutely LOVE this series and I’m completely gone for Dom & Seth. They have me wrapped around Seth’s little finger….hmmmm there’s a joke in there somewhere!

“You couldn’t be more perfect.”

This dynamic Mafioso duo has found a place in my heart. I bloody LOVE them. Whilst I really enjoyed the first instalment and was swept away, this second part ROCKED! The dynamics between our anti-heroes was spot on. Part two was thrillingly dark and morally questionable. It was sexy; hot, funny and overwhelmingly emotional and passionate. My heart bled for Dom and Seth…man did I feel the pain and anguish in their respective roles, responsibilities as well as the uncovered tragedy and abuse!

‘This man would be his downfall.’

In the face of revelations who’ll be the last men standing? So much violence and grief; so much jealousy and destruction. But above all; so much LOVE in the face of adversity! As the true honest souls of Dom and Seth slowly unravel and we learn what lies beneath; you truly feel and see their true nature, the size of their damaged hearts of gold and the honest purity of their love.

“He is my Don. He is my man, so don’t fucking dare talk to him like that.”

As Dom and Seth’s journey continue we learn more of the intricate hierarchies in the world of the Mafia accompanied by utter violence and raw heart-break. There were some extremely tender moments between Seth and Dom woven into the dark and ugly – I’ll never look at a lemon cupcake the same ever again aww! They had me in stitches of laughter too. The scene with the olive oil and Dom’s outrage at the ‘clubbing scene’ followed by the actual scene had me crying with laughter! The way these two are complete chalk and cheese and the way they bounce off each other and spar is PERFECTION. I have to say I think the writing is incredibly clever as is the character development in this instalment. BRAVO K.A Merikan; you girls have created something pretty bloody special here in Seth & Dom – intense dangerous and unpredictable. I’m in LOVE with everything about them and their story and can’t wait for more especially after how we left them…sobbing! This is most definitely going to be one of my favourite m/m series; what do you think, Jenny?

Jenny:  Oh Gitte, I can’t even begin to tell you how much I LOVED IT and part two offered so much more than I had anticipated! Oh sure, I expected, heat, suspense and drama and a few giggles along the way because Dom and Seth bouncing off each other is absolutely priceless. What I  didn’t expect was to be laughing like crazy at some of their antics one minute then feeling wretched and sobbing over heart rending scenes the next. I cried with laughter, I cried with heartache and I positively swooned watching these two polar opposites as they sought to decipher the magnitude of their feelings.

“You really are like from a rom-com, arent’ you.”

Dom’s backstory left me reeling and heartbroken. As we started to chip away his armour and began to see the man beneath the uncompromising, dangerous and unpredictable demeanour, this fascinating man stole my heart that much more. Dom is something else.  Oh boy did these authors manage to elicit some intense emotions where Dom was concerned and every turn of the page felt like as though I was glancing into his soul. This man was a revelation and his connection with Seth was felt deep in my heart.

“And who are you in  in this story?”
“The devil, I suppose. Tempting you into sin.”

Guns n’ Boys, the story of two men bound by the Mafiosa code of duty and loyalty, is one of passion, violence, drama, thrills, love and lust, vividly told with moving, touching, funny and stirring realty. These authors introduced me to two characters who have undoubtedly stolen my heart. Lemon cupcakes….sigh….I think my heart may have swelled out of my chest at that point.

“I hope you trust me.”
“With my life.”

There was so much growth Dom and Seth as the realisation of the intensity of their feelings overwhelmed them. The relationship really does prosper though it’s certainly not without its pitfalls. The banter, the cluelessness on both parts in regards to their relationship and the sheer differences between these two all added up to an amusing, passionate, violent, entertaining, steamy and thrilling series that I’m absolutely HEAD OVER HEELS IN LOVE. The ending left me holding my breath and I don’t think I will be able to exhale until I have the next instalment in my hot little hands. Roll on 2015!

G&J : ✯✯✯✯

‘It was like watching a panther…beautiful, attentive, and deadly.’

We started this book with some trepidation. The warning in itself at the beginning of the book was both enticing and kind of freaked us out a little.  Wow…what a ride we had with Seth and Dom. Not necessarily as dark, violent or gritty as we’d thought but we really loved this one.

“Live like there’s no tomorrow, because there might as well be none.”

The development of the characters and story is what made us enjoy Guns N Boys. We fell in love with Seth and Dom; both very different – almost night and day. However, we have a feeling this is merely a scratch on their personalities and when push come to shove they both have a bit of both characteristics in them and will shine in their own right turning the tables on the reader when least expected.

‘…he had been sheltered from the environment he was supposed to navigate in the future.’

Where Dom came off as the enigmatic and violent silent killer; Seth had a cheeky school boy quality with an innocent goofiness mixed in. Now, whether this is a smoke screen for a personality trait yet to surface, who knows?  We sure fell in love with this big passionate mafia man with a conscience.

“You try it once and you’re doomed.”

Dom intrigued us; how could he not. So damn sexy and aloof; yet a soft side appeared every so often when it came to the man he is meant to protect. We know that something awful has had to have happened to this stoic man to make him the man he is today.

“This is going to be a fucking nightmare.”

On a side note; the passion and heat in this story is beyond measure and had us fanning ourselves with our kindles. There’s nothing dainty, pretty nor lie back and think of England when these guys get it on. Theirs is pure animalistic passion!

“Oh God….I’ve never been with a man like you.”

“You’ll never want to have another one.”

There were quite a few twists and shocks along the way and we have a feeling book #1 has set us up for something pretty bloody (pun intended) special and we can’t wait to get our hands on the next book. We’d love more on these two gorgeous Mafioso’s childhood and find out just what is the deal with the decision to make Seth the next Don? Oh and for fellow lovers of the Dark Soul series by Aleksandr Voinov….are you in for a treat. We went crazy when we came upon this special surprise!

GUEST POST BY K.A. MERIKAN

Smoking is bad for you and everyone around you, there’s no doubt about that, but if so, is there a more suitable addiction of choice for a professional killer? Nicotine has stimulating effects – it increases focus and alertness, and arousal, yet also reduces pain and can help the user relax. Frequent smokers subconsciously take their tobacco in a way that helps them achieve the desired effect. What’s more perfect when quietly waiting for your mark to show up than keep yourself busy with a smoke?

In popular culture, cigarettes are usually associated with people who in one way or another are on the fringe of society. Examples that come to my mind are the Marlene Dietrich, the femme fatale, Marlon Brando, casually smoking in ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’, James Dean, Clint Eastwood. Images of people with a devil-may-care attitude.

When I first created Domenico, I immediately imagined him as this elegant man in a sleek suit and an ever-present cigarette in hand. And he smokes a lot. It’s a habit he picked up from his mentor after his life took a turn for the worse.

Smoking is also a habit that allows me to show Domenico’s state of mind. When he’s nervous, he tends to chain-smoke, burning through each without much enjoyment. Other times, when he’s relaxed, he inhales slowly, he might even play with the smoke.

Smoking characters in books. Yay or nay? Sexy as hell or unappetizing?

Domenico gave him a slow glance, and Seth couldn’t help but follow the swirl of smoke that left those perfectly cut lips, curling around the soft flesh as if it couldn’t help itself.”

ROAD OF NO RETURN (Sex and Mayhem #1) by K A MERIKAN

road of no return

SYNOPSIS

— Don’t talk to strangers. —

Zak. Tattoo artist. Independent. Doesn’t do relationships.
Stitch. Outlaw biker. Deep in the closet. Doesn’t share his property.

On the day of Stitch’s divorce, lust personified enters the biker bar he’s celebrating at. Tattooed all over, pierced, confident, and hot as hellfire, Zak is the bone Stitch has waited for life to throw him. All Stitch wants is a sniff, a taste, a lick. What follows instead is gluttony of the most carnal sort, and nothing will ever be the same. Forced to hide his new love affair from the whole world, Stitch juggles family, club life, and crime, but it’s only a matter of time until it becomes too hard.

Zak moves to Lake Valley in search of peace and quiet, but when he puts his hand into the jaws of a Hound of Valhalla, life gets all but simple. In order to be with Stitch, Zak’s biker wet dream, he has to crawl right back into the closet. As heated as the relationship is, the secrets, the hiding, the violence, jealousy, and conservative attitudes in the town rub Zak in all the wrong ways. When pretending he doesn’t know what his man does becomes impossible, Zak needs to decide if life with an outlaw biker is really what he wants.

Gitte: This was our first time spent with the two Authors writing together as K.A Merikan. Also, it was our first M/M biker book. We’ve done sexy biker; fluffy glamourized biker and filthy ‘organised crime’ biker. But I have to say this is the first time we’ve come across ugly gritty biker with a conscience where we’ve actually hated one of the heroes through half the story. It wasn’t pretty nor was it anything like the typical biker books we’ve read. Was this a good thing or not? Well I’d say yes it was in some respects because it felt original and also no in some ways as it took some getting used to.

‘He lived in a culture where tough was the only currency. He didn’t even cry when he was alone. Being able to let it out made him just as relieved as having the amazing hot body on top of him. Made him remember he was still human, not a man whose muscles were made out of violence and bones out of fury.’ – Stitch

I think we hit about 50% before we truly inhaled every word and formed an emotional attachment to Stitch; our fucked up closet gay biker and Zak our sexy up front tattooist. At no stage did I feel like I wanted to stop reading but up until then it just wasn’t wow-ing me at all. Then, all of a sudden, it was as if the Authors hit their stride and the story of Stitch and Zak became very emotional and dramatically thrilling. I actually shed a few tears and my heart pounded in angst and worry. I would have LOVED an epilogue, I have to say. Once I actually got invested it seemed over so quickly and I was left feeling like I wanted more ‘afters’.  Your thoughts pretty much matched mine didn’t they, Jenny?

Jenny:  Absolutely Gitte.  I agree with you wholeheartedly. Well, we didn’t have to think twice when we received a review request for this MM Biker book that’s for sure! While it did take a while to settle into the story, like you I never once considered putting it aside. I had to keep going and I’m glad I did because I did end up enjoying Road of No Return. It was definitely a grittier biker world that we’re used to and at first it was a little off putting but again, I settled into the scene and Stitch and Zak’s story took flight. And what a story it was. Wow! Talk about some things coming out of left field.

As you said, there was a time or two I welled up, times my heart was in my mouth and I believe there was one time I texted you with a WTF?? Didn’t see that coming!  There were definitely an abundance of sex scenes in Stitch and Zak’s story and sometimes this can overwhelm the emotional and the guts of the story but I didn’t feel that was with Road of No Return. I felt the frustration leave Stitch when he could just ‘be’ around Zak and years of hiding who he was and how he felt were dispersed when he felt that passion and closeness to Zak.

“I want to be everything to you.”

An epilogue would have finished their story off perfectly and I’m kind of bummed there wasn’t one.

Gitte: I fell in love with Zak straight away. He was such a gorgeous man. He had a heart of gold, a great attitude and convictions. He was quite comical at times but incredibly sweet, sexy and straight up which came across believable and real.

“If you want us to be good, you can’t spy on me, or trash my stuff.” – Zak

Now, Stitch, well I thought he was a complete arsehole to begin with and I didn’t like him at all. He was rude, crude and abrasive – he was really a caveman in many respects. Then….I fell in love with his character, flaws and all. I started to understand this conflicted biker who just wanted a peaceful life being free to love whom he wanted. This wild aggressive beast of a man had a vulnerability that shone like a beacon when he was completely relaxed with Zak.

“I had a bad night. All I wanted was to come home to you.” – Stitch

In the end Stitch is who broke my heart and made me cry! He really got to us after rubbing us up the wrong way didn’t he, Jenny?!

Jenny:  These guys were like night and day. I thought I was never going to warm to Stitch, Gitte. He definitely started off on my bad side when he’d be quite cruel to Zak. Who knew Stitch would end up being the vulnerable romantic? There were even times he could be very chessy! I wouldn’t have guessed I’d utter those words when I first met him. Gee I felt for him, for the lie of a life he had to lead and my heart raced in fear of his club finding out his secret!

“I was a perfectly miserable closeted guy, and then you just walking in and…and….”

Zak was such a beautiful man and if anyone could look after Stitch and see him through his conflicted emotions it was this guy.  He gave Stitch the confidence to be who he wanted to be.

“You are not disgusting. You are a real man. You are beautiful. Don’t ever forget that.”

G&J: The Hounds of Valhalla are a fucked up and nasty homophobic lot of bikers. There’s nothing nice or redeeming about them. This story depicts the reality of what’s ugly, about having to make sacrifices for who you truly are and what you believe in. It’s a story of survival and following your heart in the face of conflict. It’s beautiful in its ugliness and has a few twists that we did not see coming. Whilst we struggled to begin with, we ended up falling in love with this atypical biker story and a passionate couple who defied what they believed they wanted only to follow their hearts.
