Baseball has never been sexier – sports romance duet

Easton Wylder is baseball royalty. The game is his life. His passion. His everything.

So, when an injury threatens to end Easton’s season early, the team calls in the renowned physical therapist, Doc Dalton, to oversee his recovery. Except it’s not Doc who greets Easton for his first session, but rather his daughter, Scout. She may be feisty, athletic, defiant, and gorgeous, but Easton is left questioning whether she has what it takes to help him.

Scout Dalton’s out to prove a female can handle the pressure of running the physical therapy regimen of an MLB club. And that proof comes in the form of getting phenom Easton Wylder back on the field. But getting him healthy means being hands-on.

And with a man as irresistible as Easton, being hands-on can only lead to one thing, trouble. Because the more she touches him, the more she wants him, and she can’t want him. Not when it’s her job to side in the club’s best interest if he’s ready to play.

But when sparks fly and fine lines are crossed, can they withstand the heat or is one of them bound to get burned?

After an unexpected twist of fate, All-Star catcher Easton Wylder is left questioning the loyalty of everyone around him.

Even the woman who shares his bed, Scout Dalton.

But if Easton thought being uprooted to the last place he expected was the only challenge life had to throw at him, he was dead wrong.

With an ailing shoulder and his career in limbo, his decision to make an unexpected change leads him to question everything – Scout’s love, family loyalties, and whether he can conquer the one obstacle he’s never been able to overcome. The secret he’s never shared with anyone.

He may be a man pushed to his limits, but he’s hell-bent on proving his worth no matter the cost.

The Catch Book Two

Reviewed by Gitte & Jenny

“I’ve played on grass my whole life, Scout. There’s no need for me to see what’s out there when it’s green beneath my feet.”

It’s been a while since we read a K Bromberg book so we dived into this duet with much excitement. For us, it was like a trip down memory lane and we immediately remembered why we love this Author’s writing, it was fabulous; easy, sexy and addictive reading. And the hero…oh wow….the hero stole our hearts. For us, The Player was a good read and served in setting up The Catch, which was without question our favourite of the two. Book one was the starter and book two the main course and dessert, if you will, – it felt more meaty….pun intended. But not only that, The Catch was all about the intricacies of the storyline, which we loved.

‘I surrender. Heart. Body. Mind. Fear.’

It’s not easy trying to live up to a baseball legend, especially not if it’s your Dad, whose expectations add even more pressure. This is the first -but not only- issue troubling Easton Wylder, who truly is a legendary baseball player all on his own merit. He’s a home grown star, and is loved by the fans. Sadly a dirty play by an opposing team player means it all comes crashing down and Easton’s journey takes a complete turn off the path he was happily and successfully on. It’s not all bad though as it brings him Scout Dalton.

“I’ve never met anyone like you, Scout. You challenge me. You make me laugh. You encourage me. But more than anything you get me. My need for this game that I love as much as I hate.”

Scout is also under a lot of pressure from her infamous father, Doc Dalton, but for different reasons. As the new physical therapist for the Austin Aces, her first patient is the sexy and cocky Easton and their first meeting does not go well. Scout’s confidence and life of baseball means she can give as good as she gets though. The attraction between them in undeniable and the intensity of their connection believable as the story progresses.

‘…the look in his eyes tells me he understands. It tells me he’s coming home to me. It tells me he knows I love him for him. It tells me he loves me too.’

Easton and Scout had so many obstacles thrown their way and whilst there was drama and angst it never felt unbelievable nor did it feel added for effect. Rather, this story was about two characters coming to terms with and overcoming what life throws at you, finding love, dealing with strained family relationships as well as growing as a person under strenuous circumstances.

“Clear mind. Full heart, Scouty-girl. Never forget that. Never.”

This duet was romantic, sexy and had that fabulous sports element which we love, the balance was spot on. Easton stole our hearts and Scout was a brilliant heroine. We definitely recommend this swoony and addictive duet! Oh and sigh…….the epilogue!!!!!!

“I plan on coming home to you. Did you hear that? I plan on coming home.”

Review for UNRAVLED BY K BROMBERG – 4 Stars

‘I should have never looked up.’

Kristy brings suspenseful intrigue, passion and dark repressed and hidden secrets to light in UnRaveled. As a reader you’ll be pushed to the edge of your comfort zone by the events unfolding, as you feel overcome by conflicting emotions. The sexual discovery in Lilly’s story may push your boundaries, yet the brilliant writing makes it enticing, gripping and eye-opening as the Author leaves us at the end with enough to spur on the reader’s imagination.

‘Resistance is long gone.’

‘Shame has been obliterated.’

Be prepared for an immediate hard hitting, sinful and seductive journey, as what was meant to be a trip of reconnection turns into a self-fulfilling sexual discovery ! Really enjoyed this one!

CRASHED (The Driven Trilogy #3) by K BROMBERG

When life crashes down around us, how hard are we willing to fight for the one thing we can’t live without, each other?

Life is full of moments.
Big moments.
Little moments.
And none of them are inconsequential.
Every single moment prepares you for that one instance that defines your life. You must overcome all your fears, confront the demons that chase you, and cleanse the poison that clings to your soul or you risk the chance of losing everything.

Mine started the minute Rylee fell out of that damn storage closet. She made me feel. Made me whole when all I thought I could ever be was incomplete. Became the lifeline I never knew I needed. Hell yes, she’s worth the fight…but how do you fight for someone you know you don’t deserve?

Love is full of ups and downs.
Heart stopping highs.
Soul shattering lows.
And none of them are insignificant.
Love is a racecourse of unexpected twists and turns that must be negotiated. You have to break down walls, learn to trust, and heal from your past in order to win. But sometimes it’s the expected that’s the hardest to hold on to.

Colton has healed and completed me, stolen my heart, and made me realize our love’s not predictable nor perfect—it’s bent. And bent’s okay. But when outside factors put our relationship to the test, what lengths will I have to go to prove to him that he’s worth the fight?

Whoever said love is patient and love is kind, never met the two of us. We know our love is worth it—have acknowledged that we were meant to be—but when our pasts crash into our future, will the repercussions make us stronger or break us apart?

J&G : 4.5Star

Jenny:  I have to say, I experienced mixed emotions picking  up this final instalment in the Driven Trilogy. There was jubilation at the thought of spending more time with Rylee, Colton and the gang, yet sadness in thinking…this is it. This is the final instalment in a series that gripped me and held me captive all the way through…from the first page of Driven to the last page of Crashed and we’ve been there from its beginning to its conclusion. It’s always tough saying goodbye to characters when they have cemented a place in your heart.

Help me. Save me. Redeem me.

Crashed picked up right where we were left gasping and peeling our fingers off our Kindles in Fueled. K Bromberg has certainly given us some heart palpitating moments and her cliffhangers are legendary! But we always forgave her because what she achieved through those cliffys was to build up the anticipation for the next book, and luckily for us, she never kept us waiting too long. One thing for certain…she certainly made us want to dive straight in after she left us hanging!

“Relationships aren’t easy. They’re hard and can be brutal at times…but those are the times you learn the most about yourself….”

First up, that prologue. Wow! K Bromberg, you never fail to hook me in with your engrossing prologues and Crashed was no exception. What a way to kick it off!  Seriously, I don’t think I moved except to turn the page. It was tragic, heartbreaking, moving and the suspense garnered in those scenes had me riveted and on the edge of my seat.

“I can’t be your spark if I can’t feel yours, so don’t you dare burn out on me.”

Rylee’s pain and heartbreak seeps through the pages of Crashed as you feel the fragile grip she has on her sanity and her heart during some heart stopping  moments. Rylee’s strength amazed me and she really digs deep in Crashed. To experience Colton’s fears first hand, his fear of life, his fear of love, his fear of happiness and his fear of facing his past was powerful to say the least and it’s all brought together so poignantly and beautifully in Crashed.  K Bromberg really has done her readers proud in this final instalment.

“How could I walk away from those eyes and the smile I knew was hiding somewhere beneath the fear and shame”

There were times in Crashed when I found myself clutching my chest with anticipation and there were times when the pure emotion of some scenes would come crashing down  on me. Rylee and Colton’s story is brought to a gripping and moving conclusion that had my heart racing a few times and  relishing in the growth between Rylee and Colton.  I have to say, the moments between Colton and his father reduced me to a snivelling wreck. This instalment was an emotionally charged, adrenaline filled, steamy and passionate read with the trademark cheekiness, humor and warmth we’ve come to love. Yep! I “race” this series!

Gitte: I’m always filled with trepidation before starting the third and last book in a trilogy I love. The apprehension stemming from falling in love with the characters, living what seems a life-time with them, crying, laughing, swooning and fearing with and over them. However, once I started Crashed I felt like it was only yesterday we were left in that horrible freeze frame moment that tore our hearts out. But not only that, I have to say K. Bromberg is the Queen of Prologues in my opinion, no question about it.

Spiderman. Batman. Superman. Ironman.

She sucks you into the story again within a few words, and that’s you hooked all over again inhaling every word feeling warm and possessive over Rylee and Carlton. Because truly I do, this couple have cemented their place in the top of my list of all-time favourite couples. I love them with all my heart.

“You came from a place of unfathomable pain and yet you…you’re this incredible light who has helped to heal me, has helped to heal my boys.”

Seriously, how much have we been through with these two, all of it so heart breaking yet so passion-filled and emotional. Nevertheless, there’s so much still for them to resolve within themselves and with others, in order to find their true happiness without living in the shadows of the past and in the shadows of the ones who wronged them.

‘…we need to crack. We need to break. Only then can we pick up each other’s pieces and make each other whole again.’

Oh and then there’s that ‘little’ issue of how we were left at the end of Fueled!! My pulse was racing…..pun totally intended!

Colton broke me, he reduced me to a crying mess and at times I truly wished I could’ve jumped into the kindle and demanded calm – order and maybe a few hits. Oh and in between the heart-break we had the passionate all-consuming sex on bloody legs who reduced me to a puddle…on a spoon….that…yeah I’m going to stop here!

“..I want to be your first, your last, and every fucking thing in between.” – Colton

Colton went through the ringer in Crashed, but he needed to in order to resolve his emotions, learn who he truly is and realise that what others may have inflicted on you does not determine the man you become. Only you determine that. You chose your destiny when you realise the man you want to be; what prints you want to leave in life. Now that is not an easy feat nor is it something that just happens, it’s bloody hard all things considering, so bless our Rylee.

“Why do you love me, Rylee?”

Rylee truly grew in Crashed and showed Carlton what an amazing man he is, how much he’s loved and how he inspires everything good in those who love him who are loved by him in return. She also went through one hell of a journey in Crashed; so many obstacles, so much pain and heart-ache. Yet she fought like a soldier and stood steadfast when everything around her crumbled. I cried many tears alongside her.

“Don’t you know? You’re my motherfucking chequered flag.”

There were so many scenes of astounding sublime genius where you hold your breath, your heart bleeds and you feel every single word. Scenes where you watch as events play out before you and you marvel at the brilliance of K. Bromberg. I ‘lego’ this series to the moon and back and I ‘race’ Colton and Rylee!

“A to the motherfucking Z “… Kristy!!!! Oh and “…you will never be inconsequential.”

J&G:  We can’t help but marvel at the growth K Bromberg has shown as an author since we first sampled her writing when we devoured Driven mid last year.  Not only that, but she has allowed her characters to grow right along with her.

Rylee and Colton’s story has been tumultuous, passionate, engrossing, emotional and beautiful, with a heat factor that has been off the charts. It has become one of our favourite series, and one we’ve never hesitated in recommending to our fellow readers.

In this final instalment K Bromberg delivered. She encapsulated the trials and tribulations, the pitfalls and successes, the love and the heartbreak that has been Colton and Rylee’s journey in The Driven Trilogy and we’re so happy to have been there from the start of the race to the chequered flag!

‘Fuck if she’s not everything I need and nothing that I deserve.’

So why not a 5 star you ask.  Whilst Crashed delivered on so many counts there were a couple of sub plots we felt stilted the flow of the story for us. We did however find ourselves a little conflicted on these because the eventual conclusions were an integral part of the story and the relationship between Rylee and Colton  and what transpired from them did have us clutching our hearts and sobbing.

“Remember, hurting is feeling and feeling is living and isn’t it good to be alive?”

Ohhh that Epilogue….it was pure perfection! Sigh……….It’s with a heavy heart that we bid Rylee and Colton farewell. You’ll be missed guys.

FUELED (The Driven Trilogy #2) by K BROMBERG

Fueled cover

What happens when the one person you never expected suddenly happens to be the one you’ll fight the hardest to keep?

Colton stole my heart. He wasn’t supposed to, and I sure as hell didn’t want him to, but he crashed into my life, ignited feelings within me that I thought had died forever, and fueled a passion that I never knew could exist.

Rylee fell out of that damn storage closet and into my life. Now I don’t think I’ll ever be the same. She’s seen glimpses of the darkness within me, and yet she’s still here. Still fighting for me. She is without a doubt the saint, and I am most definitely the sinner.

How is it the one thing neither of us wanted—neither of us anticipated that fateful night—has us fighting so hard to keep?

He steals my breath, stops my heart, and brings me back to life again all in a split second of time. But how can I love a man who won’t let me in? Who continually pushes me away to prevent me from seeing the damaged secrets in his past? My heart has fallen, but patience and forgiveness can only go so far.

How can I desire a woman who unnerves me, defies me, and forces me to see that in the deep, black abyss of my soul there’s someone worthy of her love? A place and person I swore I’d never be again. Her selfless heart and sexy body deserve so much more than I’ll ever be capable of giving her. I know I can’t be what she needs, so why can’t I just let her go?

We are driven by need and fueled with desire, but is that enough for us to crash into love?

Fueled with desire. Crashing into love.

Jenny:  Well, we were left hanging at the end of Driven Book #1 in the Driven Trilogy and to be honest we were a little nervous about what to expect in this second installment weren’t we G?  Our concerns were that, being a trilogy, this book could possibly fall in the dreaded “filler” trap, as is the case with some trilogies.

How wrong we were! Fueled is anything but a filler! Fueled is an essential component of this story and it almost felt as if Driven was a stepping stone leading us to Fueled.  Oh the heat factor is still off the charts and the chemistry between Rylee and Colton is in stratospheric proportions, but this book had so much more, it had substance, secrets were uncovered, it was extremely intense at times, very emotional and an absolute must read! I have to say bravo to K Bromberg because she really took this one to a new level in the trilogy stakes that’s for sure! Fans and new readers alike devour this one,  don’t you think so Gitte?

Gitte: Hell yes Jenny, Fueled was without doubt one of the best sequels in a trilogy I’ve ever read. There’s no filler about it and the writing was brilliant. And yes, Driven was the appetizer to the main course of Fueled. With a tantalizing and much needed dessert to follow still in Crashed.

I was blown away to tears by the prologue and I just knew we had a great read ahead of us. Fueled had just about everything that keeps you addicted and excitedly reading. It had the passion between Rylee and Colton as well as some real emotional tear jerking moments.

“Why get attached to someone that will only leave in the end? To someone who will run the other way when they really know about the truths inside me. The poison that clings to my soul….” Colton

The reveals were truly epic and the cliff hanger. Well…..

Oh and sigh….Colton…..

“Colton kisses like a man drawing his last breath and I am his air. It’s passionate and possessive and provocative.”

Jenny:  I was sobbing in the prologue.  It really hit a nerve with me. It was extremely intense and a deeply moving introduction and set the scene for what was to be the unraveling of Colton Donavan. The man, the myth and just exactly what this 747 load of baggage he carried around consisted of and I have to say, the way the author handled this story was beautifully done. I can’t fault it.

“And it is in this moment, being witness to his agony, I realize there are so many different ways a person can ache. So many definitions I never realized behind a simple word. “

We got emotion in bucket loads and I fell in love with Colton even more if that’s at all possible, and I felt that Rylee really grew in Fueled, she became stronger and I can only see her coming into her own more and more as the trilogy concludes in Crashed.

“There’s so much that I need to explain to you. So much I need to say…so much I should have already said to you.”

Oh don’t get me wrong. There were times the miscommunication between these two drove me crazy and their unwillingness to bend frustrated me but both these characters have so many issues to deal with and learning to trust, love and depend on another is something they must commit to together and watching it unfold through the pages is gripping!

“This is what I do for a living and I missed all of the signs. Love and hurt overriding my training.”

And did I mention Colton…..swoon…I love him! This troubled, broody, sensual man has stolen my heart.

“The image of Colton – so magnificent in body yet conflicted in mind and isolated in emotion…”

Gitte: I fell even more in love with Colton if that was possible too. My heart aches for him, his childhood, the open wounds he still carries and I sympathise with him and understand his behaviour even more now.

“You at least deserve someone that’s going to try to be what you need…give you what you want…and I don’t think I’m capable of that.” Colton

Really, for me this was Colton’s book, we got his story and how his past affects his here and now as well as his relationship with the gorgeous Rylee.

We really did get underneath that hard and controlling exterior which hides a damaged soul and a vulnerability that melts your heart.

“She pushes me. Unmans me. Consumes me. Scares the ever – loving shit out of me.” Colton

As for Rylee, she really did do a lot of growing up. She needed to transfer her compassion and understanding from her profession into her personal life in order to understand and heal Colton. Not only that, she needed to realise a few important things about herself and her own past too. Overcome her insecurities and the tragedy which mars her life.

“I came back. For you. For me. For who we are when we’re together. For the possibilities of what we can be if you’ll just let me in…”Rylee

Jenny:  Fueled really did exceed my expectations. I expected this to be a bit of a romp-fest to be honest but what we got was something so far removed from that scenario. We had questions answered, we witnessed Rylee and Colton grow and understand each other more.  Getting into Colton’s head was a revelation. His internal thought processes humoured me and broke me.

This man has been through so much and you know that Rylee is just the woman to expel his demons and show him love beyond anything he imagined, if he will just let down those walls.

“Just listen to me Ry…If you really love him, then keep knocking on that fucking steel gate he has around his heart. If he’s worth it to you, you’ll keep at it.”
“The damn thing’s got to give sometime and you’re the only one I think is capable of doing it.”

I know a lot of readers are mentioning the CH word but I don’t consider the ending to be a cliff-hanger.  OMG Yes! It killed me and I let out an audible “bloody hell” at the end but to me if felt like a perfect, heart racing ending and set the scene for Crashed.  It had my adrenaline pumping, I was on the edge of my seat, I was cursing the author but…….isn’t that how I’m supposed to feel. This is a trilogy after all and I need to want that third book as much as I do my next breath, and I do. I’d say the author achieved that and more. The ending left me gasping and needing more! Roll on Crashed!!!

Gitte: Fueled gave us a bit of everything we love. Passion, humour, angst and drama. It was so well written and whilst I got annoyed a few times at the misunderstandings and the behaviour it took nothing away from how brilliant a second instalment this is. I already miss Colton like crazy…I am irrevocably in love with this man!!! The cliff – hanger well….just see it as a momentary ‘pit stop’……

“I’ve never let someone this far in because that means secrets are shared and pasts are discovered. And because it means you need. I’ve only ever needed myself – needing others only results in pain. In abandonment. In unspeakable horror. And yet, I need Rylee right now.”Colton

DRIVEN (The Driven Trilogy #1) by K. BROMBERG – REVIEW

Rylee Thomas is used to being in control. But she’s about to meet the one man that just might make her enjoy losing it…

I am the exception to the rule.

In a world full of willing women, I’m a challenge to the roguish and achingly handsome Colton Donavan. A man used to getting exactly what he wants in all aspects of life. He’s the reckless bad boy constantly skating that razor thin edge toward out of control, on and off of the track.

Colton crashes into my life like a tornado: sapping my control, testing my vulnerabilities beyond their limits, and unintentionally penetrating the protective wall around my healing heart. Tearing apart the world I rebuilt so carefully with structure, predictability, and discipline.

I can’t give him what he wants and he can’t give me what I need. But after a glimpse beneath his refined exterior into the dark secrets of his damaged soul, can I bring myself to walk away?

Our sexual chemistry is undeniable. Our individual need for complete control is irrefutable. But when our worlds collide, is the chemistry enough to bring us together or will our untold secrets and battle of wills force us apart?

Driven collage

Review by Jenny & Gitte

Driven  by need, fueled with desire……….

Gitte:  So I thought Driven was a great debut by this Author. It had me intrigued all the way through wanting to know more about these characters and their past. This was book #1 in a trilogy, yeah that dreaded word, because we all know what that means; cliff-hanger. And this one had one. I always get worried about trilogies now, because more times than not; not only is a cliffy guaranteed but the second book, in my opinion, tends to be a filler book where not much happens. So yes I can’t wait for the second installment but I’m also very apprehensive.

I thought the storyline was very well written; yes this is a bit of an exhausted theme, but as it was in a different setting it didn’t bother me too much.  Though, I will say that, because it already reminded me a bit of Fifty Shades, having that reference in there took me out of the story for a little while and I kind of wish it hadn’t been in there. Despite being a slow starter it really managed to pick up and became one hell of an intense, drama filled, sexy and thrilling ride. Which brings me nicely on to Colton…

Now Colton, wow he was gorgeous….all man. He was passionate, cocky, controlling yet had a 747 full of baggage; self-proclaimed.

“Let’s get one thing clear….I. Do. Not. Take. What’s. Not. Offered. And we both know, sweetheart, you offered…Willingly.” – Colton

Oh and not only that…he’s a race car driver with a huge heart in the right place! NICE!

He does insist though that he does not do relationships; rather he is a one night stand man with rules and arrangements. The man even has a shag pad. Colton definitely made an entrance in this story:

“I’m used to women falling at me feet.” – Colton

“His confidence exudes rebellion.” – Rylee

I would love to have read some scenes in this story in his POV because I feel it would have added to the readers understanding of why Rylee got in where others hadn’t? How did he feel when he met her; his reasoning behind some of his extreme actions in this story and of course I would love to learn some more of his secrets. However, I am sure we will in book #2, well I hope.  We do get a bit of background on Colton but whatever it is that haunts him awake and asleep and caused him to lead the life that he does, well we’re still in the dark on that.  What did you think about Colton, Jenny?

Jenny: I had no idea what to expect from this first book in the Driven Trilogy, but I know one thing for sure….I’ll definitely be picking up the next two books! Holy bloody cliffhanger batman! This one has left me hanging alright!!! Darn those cliffy’s! I agree about the Fifty reference, it also took me out of the moment and I wish it hadn’t been in there, but I was soon back into it.

As for Colton…need you ask? Wow, just wow Gitte! What’s not to love and desire about this intense, hot racing car driver who oozes virility, sex appeal, has a very naughty mouth and a heart of gold. This man could melt panties with a mere smile, a glint from those gorgeous green eyes or a  word from that hypnotic voice. Yuppers, Colton Donavan is book boyfriend stuff alright….and a shag pad to boot!

“Oh, and Ryles, just so you know, that wasn’t a warning, sweetheart. That was a promise.” – Colton

I know what you mean by the second book in a trilogy and I’m hoping book two will answer some much needed questions because I really need answers and I absolutely agree, I would love some kind of Colton POV at some stage. I really do need to know what his thought processes are in regards to why Rylee especially, gets under his skin.

“I can’t figure out which is hotter, Rylee, watching you come or making you come” Colton

Most of the time I do love that mystery of not knowing what the male character is thinking in a story, but with Colton….he is such a complex character …“I’m damaged goods”…. who, in his own words, has issues from his past that he hasn’t dealt with…….“I know all about baggage, sweetheart, I have enough to fill up a 747 and then some” …, and has so much going on in that head of his, that I would love just a little sneak peek and hear from him.

“Normal’s not boring,” he corrects. “Normal is desirable.” – Colton

Gitte:   I really understood and liked Rylee. I thought she was a really well written heroine. She was an intelligent caring woman with a huge heart. Her profession demands respect and it shows her caring vulnerable side. She did not put up with any nonsense and stayed true to herself despite the temptations. Rylee has seen real tragedy in her life. It broke my heart that she carried this huge guilt around with her for something that was out of her control.

The chemistry between her and Colton is so intense right from the onset. She knows he is not someone she should go for unless she wants a broken heart. However, she can’t really avoid him because what Colton wants, Colton gets through any means…even altruistic ones. He is temptation in a lush package and you can’t really blame Rylee at all for being sucked in. I was!! How could you not when he says things like this:

“Just know Rylee, the best sex you will ever have…will be with me.” – Colton

Rylee doesn’t want complicated grey or men with commitment issues…she wants black and white; commitment and romance. But does the heart listen to the head? Nope…when does it ever?

“I can’t figure out what I want to do more, punch him or fuck him.” – Rylee

“He exudes virility, evokes desire and commands attention all with a single look from his stunning eyes. He’s edgy and reckless and you want to go along for the ride hoping to get a glimpse of his tender side that breaks through every now and again. The bad boy with a touch of vulnerability who leaves you breathless and steals your heart.” – Rylee

So yes, I enjoyed Driven and loved the way two people meet each other just when they need what the other can offer. Two beautifully flawed people who are scared of being hurt and feeling as if they are second best to love. Despite my issues with it I found it to be an emotional, sensual and addictive read which makes me both excited and scared to read the next instalment.

Jenny:  I immediately connected with Rylee.  This girl is a nurturer and no place does she show this better than in her job. She is absolutely respected and loved and it is testament to her resolve that she is able to help others while being so tormented and affected by circumstances in her past.  Hearing Rylee’s story was heartbreaking and you really understood her reasoning when you delved into what made her tick.  She never faltered in her beliefs, though of course, Colton was the exception to that rule, but even then, it was Rylee who had Colton on the ropes a lot of the time.

“I need this connection with him like I need sunlight. For when we touch like this, when I can feel him like this, I have doubt that I can do this.” – Rylee

The sexual chemistry was intense and extremely hot.  It’s a wonder these two didn’t cause a power blackout when they were together with the amount of electricity that sparked between them.

“I bet he fucks like he drives – a little reckless, pushing all the limits, and in it until the very last lap”- Haddie

What is it about Rylee that has Colton relenting on conditions and restraints he has put on himself. He has his rules. They are steadfast yet he finds Rylee breaking down his defences little by little.

“Decide, sweetheart,” he commands. “A man only has so much restraint” – Colton

Whilst yes, the theme of this book is nothing new, I really did enjoy it and being that it was set against the backdrop of the  racing world definitely added something extra to story.  I found the characters captivating, their unfolding stories intriguing and the chemistry off the charts.  Once this book hit its straps, it became an intense, steamy and emotional read which had me entertained right up to the finish line. There is so much more to Colton – exactly what is it in his past, what drives him, what makes him view relationships the way he does, why does he believe he is damaged beyond repair?  Well, be sure to pick up this book and find out…….
