Based in Denver, the Rock Chick Series is eight books that take you on the wild ride of the courtships of the Rock Chicks and the Hot Bunch. We’ve loved every book and highly recommend this entire series.

From New York Times bestselling author, Kristen Ashley, comes the long-awaited story of Daisy and Marcus, Rock Chick Reawakening. A prequel to Kristen’s Rock Chick series, Rock Chick Reawakening shares the tale of the devastating event that nearly broke Daisy, an event that set Marcus Sloane—one of Denver’s most respected businessmen and one of the Denver underground’s most feared crime bosses—into finally making his move to win the heart of the woman who stole his.

“You are beautiful. You’re funny. You’re challenging, and by that I mean stubborn, and even if it can be aggravating, I still like it….I’d commit murder to hear you laugh again…But even with all that, darling, you are a serious pain in the ass.”

Be still our beating hearts. We just read the ONE story we’ve been waiting for over the last few years. The one we’ve always hoped and wished for. The Rock Chick book that in a way would bring us complete closure, because wow, we’ve always been wanting to hear Daisy and Marcus’ story. Well, let us tell you, their story was everything and more. It brought that warm fuzzy feeling of being back with  much loved friends, through the brilliance of Kristen Ashley. We swooned once more, we cried bucket loads of tears and we remembered all the craziness and passion. It was utterly perfect and so damn romantic and nostalgic.

“Stop turning me on,” I warned

“Stop being cute,” he fired back

I stuck my tongue out at him.

He watched it then looked in my eyes. “That didn’t work.”

“Whatever,” I muttered.

We’ve loved Daisy from the moment we met her, how could we not? She’s got style, sass and definitely her own brand of class. She’s the friend you wished you had and who could deny her anything, all she’d have to do is call us ‘Sugar’ and we’d be putty in her hands. There was always a melancholy though associated with her and in this book we find out exactly the why’s and how’s. It was heart-breaking and so emotional but this girl has an inner strength that’d slay men. The romance, support, respect and total adoration Marcus showed her….seriously we melted into puddles on the floor, our hearts pounding and swooning in equal measure.

“I handle you with care. I’ll always handle you with care. I will never, not ever, Daisy, give you reason to leave me. I won’t cheat on you. I won’t beat you…..To end, you’re safe with me. You’ll get from me only what you deserve, which is everything I can give you doing it handling you with care.”

Marcus Sloane is a formidable man and as we discovered his back story and heard of his journey we lost our hearts all over again to this amazing man. He’s quite literally the epitome of perfection. When Marcus loves he LOVES, and will do absolutely anything in his power to make it known and the way in which he shows it…well this man is quite simply amazing.

“A dream,” she murmured.

“You. You’re the dream a girl like me never thought she could dream.”

We inhaled Marcus and Daisy’s story, how could we not. It was everything to us and we cannot thank Kristen Ashley enough for writing it, in her much loved unique manner. The queen of epilogues struck once more and we smiled through copious tears of happiness, our hearts feeling full and complete. Whilst sad that it’s over we just can’t feel anything but happiness and love right now. It was Aces! Rock on…and be prepared to be swept off of your feet.

“You’re safe now.”

“I’ve never been safe.”

“Okay, darling, but you’re safe now.”

“I wanna believe that. I wanna believe in castles.”

“You’ll believe,” he whispered.

And as he does this, he falls in love and truly learns the man that he’s grown to be.

When his love is murdered right before Nick’s eyes, Nick knows he has to avenge her. He knows how he’s going to avenge her. And he has no qualms using Olivia Shade to exact that vengeance.

Olivia Shade has grown up on the outside of her family too. Her problem is that they don’t want her outside. They want her all the way in, right under their thumbs. She pays the price for seeking escape and learns her lesson—she’ll never see a dawn where she wakes up free.

Then she meets Nick Sebring, and even as she fights it, the hope that died years ago starts to blossom. She can find love. She can have a man of her own. She can be happy. She can be free.

‘Sometimes you got away with dealing day to day with the devil. Sometimes you got burned.’

It was over three years ago (pre TB days) when Kristen Ashley ran an idea for a series past us. She really, really wanted to write a gritty series whereby the MC’s would be ‘anti-heroes” essentially good men who didn’t do particularly good things. The series was to push boundaries for KA and show these men and their world in all their gritty and raw surroundings and they would make no apologies for the way they lived. We were ecstatic and begged her to write it.

And now 3 years later this series is coming to an end has left us with bittersweet feelings. When we first met Nick Sebring in Knight, he was a particularly nasty bastard who pulled all sorts of stunts that didn’t make him very love-able. He really didn’t have a lot of redeeming qualities but oh boy did we have a thing for Nick Sebring! He intrigued us and we always knew he’d have a story to tell so yeah we have been gagging for his book for years. We feel it was only fitting Nick had the last word in the Unfinished Hero Series, however sadly, we didn’t feel as though this was essentially Nick’s story. It felt almost like the ‘unfinished heroine’ as it tended to concentrate mostly on Olivia.

‘Oh yeah. Fuck yes. She owned him. He’d never been owned. But he was hers. All hers. Olivia’s. He knew it in that instant because he also knew in that instant he’d do anything, absolutely anything, beg, borrow, steal, kill, crawl, lie, cheat, die….all just for her smile.’

We’ve always felt KA didn’t push this series quite as far as we had hoped and it never felt THAT gritty to be honest, nonetheless this series will always hold a special place in our hearts and we’ve really enjoyed it.

Nick’s story turned out to be quite the tragic one. Suffering the loss of Hettie – the woman he loved and had to painfully and agonizingly watch lose her life right before his eyes. Nick was carrying a lot of hurt, pain and a thirst for revenge. Nick was going to make the bastards responsible for Hettie’s death suffer for his loss and our hearts went out to him. He seemed so lost on this path at first.

“If you let whatever you got inside you lose, you’d make a man incredibly happy. You’d be a dream he couldn’t build. You’d be everything. “

Olivia Shade’s outwardly persona and reputation is that of the Ice Princess, the daughter of the notorious Vincent Shade, it’s assumed she is right in the thick of her father’s dealings and a woman to be watched at every turn. However, beneath the ice cold exterior lies a woman with a beautiful soft nature who has endured hurt and pain throughout her life. Our hearts broke for this lady.

‘I knew it was pure insanity, pure torment to do. I believed. For one magnificent second, connect to Nick Sebring, I believed. Believed in a better world. I believed I could feel complete. I believed I could have someone by my side. I believed I could feel safe. I believed I could be happy. I believed I could be loved.’

Now…the way these two met…..oh wow! Talk about steamy. Just how their paths entwined, we’ll leave up to you to find out as the secrets, intrigue and mystery is what builds the story to its crescendo.

“I wanna be free.”
“I’ll get you there.”

Sebring did start off a little slow and while we understood the need to explore the physical aspect of Nick and Olivia’s connection, it did feel at times as though the sex overtook the story and became a little monotonous. However, once the story ratcheted up a notch, the heart stopping thrilling moments surfaced and the deeply emotional overtones so customary with this author ripped our hearts to pieces and we were once again reminded why we adore Kristen Ashley’s work.

We have to say, we loved Knight Sebring three years ago when we met him in Knight, however after this book we LOVE Knight Sebring even more. What a great character he is. So loyal, so forthright and a man not afraid to show his soft side to the ones he loves. He owned our hearts once again.

“….you’re doing what I need you to do. Just bein’ the big brother I never let you be.”
“Not a hard job, Nick. Not anymore.”

There was much we loved about this book even if Nick Sebring did feel a little lackluster to the character we first met in Knight and his story may have lacked the action and rawness we had hoped to encounter in Sebring, however we enjoyed it and there’s no doubt that once again, the lady delivered!

Ride Steady (Chaos #3) by Kristen Ashley - 2nd June

The ride of her life . . .
Once upon a time, Carissa Teodoro believed in happy endings. Money, marriage, motherhood: everything came easy—until she woke up to the ugly truth about her Prince Charming. Now a struggling, single mom and stranded by a flat tire, Carissa’s pondering her mistakes when a vaguely familiar knight rides to her rescue on a ton of horsepower.

Climb on and hold tight . . .
In high school, Carson Steele was a bad boy loner who put Carissa on a pedestal where she stayed far beyond his reach. Today, he’s the hard-bodied biker known only as Joker, and from the way Carissa’s acting, it’s clear she’s falling fast. While catching her is irresistible, knowing what to do with her is a different story. A good girl like Carissa is the least likely fit with the Chaos Motorcycle Club. Too bad holding back is so damned hard. Now, as Joker’s secrets are revealed and an outside threat endangers the club, Joker must decide whether to ride steady with Carissa—or ride away forever . . .

“I let you stand at that fuckin’ fence.”

There were many, many beautifully moving moments in Ride Steady and as usual we were highlighting like crazy but….but…that scene above reduced us to tears and we have goose bumps reliving it for this review. For us, it was one of the most powerfully poignant scenes in this story. It broke our hearts and spoke volumes about these men, their loyalty and their brotherhood!

“Love and care don’t come with time. They just come.”

KA’s done it again! By now we pretty much know what to expect from a KA book and it’s the reason we keep picking them up time and time again. The sentiments in a KA story never fail to strike a chord with us. Amidst the fiction, there is a sense of realness and relatability that keeps enticing us back. In some way, shape or form no matter what this lady produces, we can always relate – whether the book is an overwhelming hit or a little bit of a miss she never, and we repeat, NEVER fails to affect us with her stories of friendship, brotherhood, love and life with her words. We all want to be fiercely and deeply loved, to know that we will always have that devoted person in our corner, to have those special girlfriends who will be there at the drop of a hat no matter what time of the day or night….and let’s not forget that Kristen Ashley always makes us laugh with her witty banter but most of all she makes us feel good and while yes it’s a formula that’s been done but boy, it sure is a beautiful and  captivating way to escape for a few hours (or in the case of a KA book….a bloody good few hours!) and Ride Steady really hit the mark with us as the essence of motherhood was woven through this story.

“I think I might be falling in love with you.”
“Then quit thinkin’, Carrie, because I know I’m fallin’ for you.”

Kristen Ashley has a way of writing about children that is second to none. She writes them to perfection expressing the simple things that create the most beautiful memories and as mothers; these were brought to the forefront in Ride Steady between Carissa and little Travis. Oh and Joker and baby Travis…….you just wait until you see this big, bad arse alpha male biker interact with baby Travis. YOUR HEART WILL MELT just as ours did! Those moments were beyond precious and memorable.

‘The living, breathing, biker Jungle gym.’

We fell head over heels in love with Joker; our hearts went out to this big, strong, alpha man with a heart of gold, as we lived through his tormented and painful past through his eyes. Honestly, this man broke us. Thankfully in Chaos he found the family he never had and the loyalty and protection he was starved of as a child and adult.  Carissa was so bubbly, honest and beautiful and with her by his side he was destined to be the man everyone knew he could be.

“One day, Carson Steele, you’re going to be a magnificent man.”

Kristen Ashley fans will be OVER THE MOON with Ride Steady!  Let’s see….Bad arse gorgeous hot biker…check.  Goofy, sweet adorable and relatable heroine…check.  Sizzling chemistry and heated sexy scenes….check. Passion, excitement, heartbreak and healing….check.  Some madcap crazy moments with some madcap crazy characters that left us with big grins on our faces….check. A happy contented feeling in our heart….BIG CHECK!  And ummmm did we mention The Dream Men…The Rock Chicks crew,  Tack…and a few others pop up in this book? Yup, they’re all back in this one so be prepared to swoooon big time!

“My manly man biker. He has an answer for everything.”
“My goofball Butterfly. She’s got the knack for makin’ me hard even when she’s bein’ a total goof.”

Despite finding ourselves skimming a few times with the over descriptiveness of clothing, furnishings etc and scratching our heads in confusion over Carissa’s memory recall, we really did love this book. With all those boxes ticked, how could we not?  Now the anticipation for Walk Through Fire begins!

“I am going to heal you, Carson.”

What does reading a Kristen Ashley novel mean to me? The short answer? EVERYTHING. I have release dates scheduled in my phone, and appointments are scheduled avoiding those release dates. I have teaser chapters downloaded. Heck, she even has her own folder on my kindle! KA is the absolute Queen of transporting you totally, completely and utterly into her World; and I have been fully transported to Magdalene over the last few days. The detail she uses in her books to describe, not only the setting, but everything from a room, to an outfit to a bowl just puts me in reading heaven. Soaring is 654 pages of pure bliss from the supreme best!

I am in love; perfect booklove. Soaring was KA at her very best. An epic love story that will be re-read and re-read. Soaring tells the love story of Mickey Donovan and Amelia ‘Amy’ Hathaway, but it is also so much more than that. This is the story of two broken families coming together. Something that happens all over the world, every day. KA stories are relatable; they feel real. Yes, we have the whole hot, knicker melting alphas that I don’t often come across in real life but I allow myself to be indulged!

It had been almost a year since we were last in Magdalene, and it was fabulous to be back. What I especially love with the Magdalene series is how the characters are older, usually divorced and already have children. Amelia is 47 and has two children from her first marriage to Captain Knobhead, Conrad; Auden and Olympia (Pippa), who were total little rat-bags to their mum at the start. Mickey is 48, and has two children Cillian who was adorable, and Aisling, who had heart-breaking issues of her own going on.

“You have absolutely no idea what I need. And the sad part about that is that you didn’t notice you’d already given me everything I’d ever need just letting me sit at your dinner table with your family.”

I felt incredibly emotional reading the first few chapters of Soaring. As a mother, to read about Amy’s broken relationship with her children was absolutely heart-breaking; and I loved how KA made the love story between Mickey & Amy a simmering, slow burn so these other issues could be handled.

“You know that’s bullshit. There’s something here. Something strong. Something I tried to fight but couldn’t. Something that draw’s us to each other. Something we’re both old enough and smart enough not to ignore. And there’s something you don’t even know that makes it more.”

There was some angst involved during the first part of the story, and because of this angst, I have to say I didn’t completely warm to Mickey straight away, but Mickey had his reasons which was an on-going under current throughout the story. However, when the moment came that I fell for Mickey, I fell HARD! Amy however, I loved from the start, and I was completely rooting for her. There were times reading when I wanted to high-five my kindle, but well, that would have been daft! I would go as far as to say she is one of my favourite KA heroines ever. She was spirited, humorous, a great mum, and completely selfless. I want to be like Amelia Hathaway when I grow up!! I want to shop at Wayfarers, and have burgers at Tink’s and work at Dove House. Oh and a hot fire-fighter / boxer would be a bonus!

“I am who I am. I have what I have. And one of those things I got that I wanna keep is you.”

Kristen Ashley writes with a humour that is just perfect. Mickey & Amy’s banter / bickering had me smiling big. Mix into that some funny kids, and some even funnier old folk and you’ve got yourself a winner.

“I’ll warn you, might make me crazy, might make me a dick, don’t give a shit, but I get off on goin’ head to head with you. So if you feel like keepin’ your gloves up, baby, bring it. ‘Cause I know after doin’ it for a while and then getting’ that kiss from you, you keep doin’ it, when I finally fuck you it’s gonna wreck you.”

As with pretty much all KA’s we come across previous characters in the series, with Josie and Alyssa being perfect friends for Amy. Alyssa, and her one liners had me cracking up. I would recommend that you would read the first book in this series; The Will before reading Soaring, as Josie and Jake’s back story is referred to occasionally.

Soaring was just perfect, with a sublime epilogue that was pure KA. Equal parts smiling and equal parts tears in my eyes (I had tears in my eyes A LOT during this book). Every loose end is tied up, and a couple of teasers dropped in for the next book in this series. I can’t wait!!

 ‘This was it.
This was us.
This was what we’d be.
Wild and free.’

Well wasn’t this just pure classic KA brilliance! What. An. End. This series has cemented a place as one of our favourite paranormal series EVER written by the Queen herself; the awesome Kristen Ashley. We will never forget these characters and everyone who played a part in the saga of The Three. We fell in love with them all, new and old, in the prophecy that saw vampires, wolves, witches and all things supernatural battle for harmony and peace to prevail. We loved the way Wild and Free unfolded with POV’s from all the main players, their stories and love affairs were spectacularly addictive and satisfying. It consumed us of an epic proportion as we raced through hoping the good guys and girls won the fight of the prophecy.

“Hope hard, Lucien darling, because that’s what we have. And hope is beautiful. It’s also strong. It will guide us to victory.”

Wild and Free was immensely intense, passionate, sexy and powerful. It was dramatic and suspenseful. It was pure bloody magic! The last to be found of The Three; Abel and Delilah both searching for what will make them whole. Each other. Drawn by forces – souls finally to collide.

“I love you too, bao bei, with everything I am, and I’ll do it until the sun falls from the sky.”

Once found, the fight begins as discoveries good and bad are made when they join Lucien & Leah and Callum & Sonia to finally form The Three. All along the LUSH Abel discovers who he truly is as he finds the truths after over two hundred years of searching unknowing.

The end begins as our heroes and heroines embark on a journey with an undetermined outcome. A fight to save the world and humanity with surprising twists; dramatic and intense action as well as some bloody hot and passionate moments included. KA had us cooling off in the freezer on more than one occasion. It was pure brilliance – paranormal at its best with humour, heart-breaking emotion and passion in abundance.

“All my life, thought I was a monster….All my life, thought I was the only one, alone in who I was. Deviant. Abnormal. Wrong. Wondering where I came from. Wondering how I could even be.”

So, Abel our hybrid hero; can we get a PHWOAR Ladies!!!!! Man, this guy….THIS GUY!!! Word cannot describe how bloody rough, tough and overall powerfully sexy this wolf/vampire is. He loves with such passion, he protects and cares fiercely.

“You’re my world, my reason for existing.”

Hands down, up whichever way you like really – one of our top favourites. A perfect match to our feisty biker chick Delilah. So sweet, loving and soft yet incredibly brave and determined. Their love was written in the stars to stand the test of the prophecy. With surprising results. Yeah; she totally rocked! Mortal danger brings out the kick arse!

‘Take his side and be the best I can be.’

This third and final instalment was truly a brilliant end result of the crescendo of what came before; it was long, it was epic it was FIERCE and we could not put it down. Whilst we absolutely loved being back with our Three’s a special mention HAS to go to Yuri and Aurora (who’s novella we would LOVE to read – throwing big eyes at KA!). Seriously, wow did we fall for this bad-arse vampire and sweet sassy witch. It was a love story – within a love story – within the confines of battle. We got it all and feel utterly satisfied and once again; Kristen this one was pretty bloody special – flawless!

“Wild and free, baby. You and me for eternity.”
