‘This is all my fault. I feel like I’m in a dark tunnel with only a small light at the very end. This is all my fault.’

Well didn’t Meghan Quinn just grab our hearts, twisting them in her talented hands until the last tear and emotion seeped out before placing them back into our chests feeling full of love, contentment and hope. She really upped the ante in this one with incredible harrowing emotion, intense passion and that trademark humour of hers sporadically breaking up the sadness. And sad it was, so bloody sad we had tears running down our cheeks at times. When writing flows and brings such vivid imagery you just can’t help but get caught up in the story. And when you care so deeply, you know the Author has shown you the heart and soul of her characters which brings that intense connection between the reader and character.

‘There is something about Bodi that runs deep in my bones, that causes me to feel the pain he’s feeling, or the panic, or his awkwardness. It’s as if our bodies are spiritually connected, or at least mine is to his.’

Vulnerability, inner turmoil and social awkwardness are traits that are hard to get spot on in male characters without them losing a certain edge of purpose, if you will, but Meghan Quinn nailed it. Bodi Banks was an incredible character who we felt as if we knew from the onset. His tragic and horrific childhood scarred this man to the extent of only finding ‘normality’ and stress relieving coping mechanisms from his haunting past through obsessive compulsive disorder. A truly heart-breaking condition. An Olympian swimmer with a body to die for and a heart and soul you just want to heal, steal and make yours. What an incredible man.

“Sometimes the beauty in the art piece isn’t about the strokes, Bodi. Sometimes it’s about the colors and how you mold them together. It’s the contrast that makes them so beautiful together.”

When you think of what woman could possibly be the one to ‘get in’ and win over this broken man there really is no one more perfect than Ruby Hearts. We had such a girl crush on her. She was feisty, sweet and caring. Wore her heart on her sleeve with an excellent entertaining knack of verbal diarrhoea and the added bonus of a missing filter.  She was divine. We fell in utter love with her character.  Bodi and Ruby were so opposite yet really they had some of the same attributes which made them so lovable. In Bodi’s own words ‘So strange, yet, so fucking adorable.’

‘I’m in love with a man who struggles with his emotions, who’s shut every door on his soul, leaving the tiniest windows open for me to climb through. He’s a beautiful man, with an even more beautiful heart but doesn’t seem to see that, which terrifies me.’

Stroked Long had everything in the right quantity. Meghan Quinn gave us the perfect balance to believe, experience, connect and fall in love with her story and everyone in it. You know you’ve experienced something fabulous when just in a couple of hours reading you’ve laughed, cried, swooned and done a bit of freezer time for good measure. Whilst it can be read as a standalone we recommend reading in order as whilst Stroked felt a lot different it’s still a great read to fall in love with.

‘I don’t want to let go. I don’t want to say goodnight. I want to hold her, cherish her, brand her. My Rubes.’

STROKED – BOOK ONE

TBB Recommended Sports Rom Com Read

SYNOPSIS

Reese King: Olympic medalist, underwear model, Greek god.

His body is chiseled from rock, sculpted by the weight room, and refined by water.

On a daily basis his skin is completely bare for everyone to see, tan and defined, only covered up by a minuscule piece of spandex. There is no denying his sex appeal.

I hate to admit it, but I’m head over heels infatuated with him.

There is one HUGE problem though. His achingly gorgeous abs, inked up arm, and cocky swagger belong to my boss, the high-profile, reality star bitch from hell and certified heinous human being, Bellini Chambers.

What I think is going to be an easy job assisting a glorified wench turns into a cluster f*ck of epic proportions.

Stroked

Reviewed by Gitte & Jenny

“Your looks might have gotten me interested, but it’s your heart that will keep me around”

Stroked brought us swoony hot romance, some scene inducing belly laughs and wickedly funny and annoying characters. It really was a fabulous light-hearted and well written romance that brought loads of emotions to the table. Meghan Quinn certainly knows how to exaggerate individual characteristics and take them to a level that’s almost a caricature of your worst nightmare – when you meet Bellini you’ll know what we mean! Not only that, we ended up having a complete girl crush on Paisley and don’t even get us started on the scrumptious Olympic swimmer, Reese King!

“What’s life if it’s not a roller coaster?”

“A pleasant merry-go-round with no drama.”

So, Paisley’s had a bit of a disastrous beginning to her film production career so is grateful when she’s given a second chance through her bessie mate; albeit as an assistant to the reality star from hell, Bellini. Poor Paisley, we would’ve cracked immediately but my goodness there were some absolutely hilarious scenes.

“In case you haven’t noticed, the woman is insane. She believes her dog is a disciple sent from God, she shames anyone who comes near her…”

However, our girl stayed strong and there was the added bonus of Bellini’s ‘supposedly’ other half, Reese King – The Silver Stroke – who’s yet to claim a gold medal at the Olympics. Oh and he’s also known as The Sexiest Man Alive. You’ll soon find out why! The man is sex personified with a cheesy and funny personality that often spars deliciously with Paisley. Not all is what it seems with this group of characters and when ‘Clyde’ and Litter box enters the mix, well, it becomes one crazy arsed ride!

“…with or without that gold medal in your hand, you’re still the man who makes my heart beat faster with every smile caressing your ruggedly handsome face.”

Shenanigans, Olympic dreams and hot nookie. Cheesy one liners, over dramatic obsessions and wicked hilarity. Condescending and dramatic with a holier than thou dog. We highly recommend Stroked for that much needed easy romantic comedic relief we all need every so often. This is a standalone in a series and we can’t wait for the next one.

‘The camel toe. Ladies, if your lips are defined by your pants, it’s time to make a change.’

THE VIRGIN ROMANCE NOVELIST by MEGHAN QUINN

the virgin romance novelist

SYNOPSIS

Her bosom heaved at an alarming rate as his rough hand found its way down to her soft, yet wiry briar patch…

Can you say briar patch in a romance novel? What about meat sword? That’s what it is…a meat sword, right, all meaty and sword like, slaying through the inner dungeons of a woman’s dark desires. What about breasts? Do bosoms really heave?

God, I have no idea what happens when private parts touch.

I’m a virgin trying to write a romance novel and can’t seem to write past a sex scene thanks to my lack of experience.

My two best friends encourage me to drop the pen for a while and gain some real life practice through multiple dating facets such as blind dates, online profiles, and random hookups.

But losing my virginity is proving to be tougher than expected…

✯✯✯✯  hilarious stars!

“You’re living through your characters when you need to be living in real life.”

Sometimes you just need a nice easy fun read to sweep you away. You know the ones…they’re sweet, swoony, fun and leave your face aching from the happy grin that’s constantly plastered there! We were just in the mood for just that sort of book and the book Gods must have listening because in our TB PM we found a recommendation for The Virgin Romance Novelist and it was just what the book doctor ordered!

“Let go, Rosie. You’re absolutely breathtaking.”

We’re both romance addicts who love the fantasy world created in these stories. Who doesn’t love those hot alpha guys who fiercely love their women and express themselves in one syllable sentences, who engage in ‘against the wall’ sex when they can’t contain that overwhelming passion they feel when the woman they desire so much as licks her lips. You know them, right? We love them in books but in real life we do love to be wooed and Rosie is no different.

Rosie Bloom loves those fluffy romance novels, losing herself in them with grand ideas of the Jane Austin variety where she believes there is a dashing hero waiting to sweep her off her feet and that true love will always prevail. She’s read about it in romance novels so it must be true!

“Love isn’t easy and love isn’t kind; love is something you sacrifice everything for in the hopes that maybe, just maybe, there is a person in this world who will accept you for who you are.”

Rosie works in a job she hates, which, we might add, provided us with MANY laughs – sorry Rosie, your misery was our hilarity! She’s led a very sheltered life, home schooled and over protected by her parents and completely naïve and clueless when it comes to sex – quite the opposite to her very oversexed flatmates Henry and Delaney. Rosie is introduced to the world of Erotic romance thanks to her sexually overt and well-meaning buddies, and life for Rosie will never be the same from this day forward!

“Make me proud and masturbate the right way, one hand on the tit and one on the clit.”

Rosie’s flatmates were hysterical! No beating about the bush (omg! bush…hahaha that reminds us of just one of Rosie’s unfortunate adventures *giggling*) with these two! If you want advice from Delaney, she’s more than happy to provide it and deliver it in her unique no filter way. Oh geez, she had us in fits!

“You need to get fucked…..you need to drop the books, spread your legs and get fucked.”

And then we have Rosie’s best friend Henry. Henry’s a man tart with a big heart, handsome and a bit of a demon between the sheets who’s never shy about passing on his knowledge to Rosie, and like Delaney, it’s in a no nonsense, no frills way…especially the blow job discussion! OMG! This guy had us swooning and giggling at the same time! Just one of the MANY highlights of this book!

“What’s a hummer?” Rosie
“A hummer is when you have his cock in your mouth and you hum lightly. The vibrations will jolt all the way down to his balls, and it will cause an amazing sensation to stir inside of him.” Henry
“Interesting. Should I hum show tunes?” Rosie

Rosie’s desire to write a romance novel comes to a halt due to her lack of sexual experience. She’s able to write about the mechanics of lovemaking but to convey the emotion and passion of the act, she will need to ditch the V-Card and put herself out for some firsthand experiences and so the fun begins….and the laughs, and the love, and the sweetness. Seriously…some moments had us in tears of laughter.

This was such a sweet, at times hysterically funny and ALWAYS entertaining read! Our romantic hearts were more than happy as Rosie, Delaney and Henry provided the perfect escape! We started with a smile, had a bit of a hiccup towards the end when the author introduced a scenario that felt very unnecessary and completely out of character. We felt quite disappointed in this particular injected angst and felt the character was let down at that point. However, we ended on a SMILE making it a definite recommend from us!

“Live a little.”
“I’m living.”
“That you are, but live a little with me, Rosie.”
