wicked beat

From the moment he lays eyes on Sinners’ new front of house soundboard operator, drummer Eric Sticks knows he has to make Rebekah his. Unfortunately, she’s too busy trying to seduce guitarist Trey Mills to pay him much attention. Rebekah never planned to fall for the tall, goofy drummer with the weird sense of humor and a heart the size of the galaxy. But Eric makes her laugh and his constant attention makes her feel sexy and irresistible–exactly what she needs after the things her last lover said to her. A woman who gives as much as she takes, Rebekah makes Eric feel like a total stud–exactly what he needs after surviving a decade of watching the incredibly talented members of Sinners from the wings.

Review by Jenny & Gitte

Gitte: I was so excited for Eric’s turn in the Sinners series. He’s been a bit of an enigma for me and as Olivia Cunning is my ROCK STAR I just couldn’t wait to devour Wicked Beat. So, writing this review hurts like a bitch because I just didn’t get it, I enjoyed it but I didn’t get that feeling. I guess didn’t connect. I was sadly disappointed. I feel as if I don’t really know Eric any better than I already did. I love Eric and his character but I don’t feel he was given the story he deserved.

Eric’s story paled in comparison emotionally to the previous Sinner books, I wanted to know all about his past from the snippets we’ve been given. Feel his pain and emotion. Eric has such a boyish sense of humour you can’t help but love him and we did see plenty of that however!

“Do you have any camouflaged condoms?…..So you won’t see me coming.” ~ Eric

“Are you going to make me get a hideous tattoo on my ass?” ~ Rebekah

“Yeah…a tattoo of my face….so even when I’m not around, you’ll still be sitting on my face.” ~ Eric

This was meant to be his book, his story, his place in the band…his life on the road with The Sinners. However, it became all about the ‘nookie’ and the heroine Rebekah. The depth of the character just wasn’t there. There were snippets but not enough.

“Things were almost too perfect. He kept waiting for a meteor to fall from the sky and pulverize him to ash. His life had been one train wreck after another. Something this wonderful had to end badly. And when it did, he knew it would destroy him.” ~ Eric

Now, it probably doesn’t help that I didn’t connect with Rebekah. She was a complete contradiction. I sympathised with her and her personal issues. She was fun and sassy at times. But…..her character didn’t endear herself to me at all. The way she loved, the way she was with Eric and Isaac; even Trey in the beginning for that matter. I was never convinced of her love for Eric because of how she spoke of Isaac, her behaviour throughout the book really. To me, her feelings were translated as intense sexual attraction not love and it was given freely and randomly. And what Eric deserved after his past was love, one hundred percent unwavering love. For me, that love came too late and the path that took it there was just not convincing. I didn’t feel anything sadly, rather to me Eric became Rebekah’s second best choice.

What did you think Jenny, am I being too harsh?

Jenny:  No, sadly Gitte you’re not, because I agree with everything you’ve said and it breaks my heart to have to say that.  This is one of those times I really wish we disagreed.  I admit I ended up skimming some of this book. In my notes I wrote “felt like 25% story/75% nookie” and my feelings haven’t changed.  I love Olivia’s books and the Sinners books are my “go to” books. The ones I eagerly countdown and impatiently wait to release. So yeah, this review hurts…badly.

In previous Sinners books the sex, kinkiness and everything we love about them has always been balanced out with emotion, camaraderie, humour, amazing character depth, engaging storyline and the intense feelings of the band member and their loves. In this one, something was missing.

“The past can’t be changed……”the future can’t be predicted. All we really have is the present. So none of that matters to me.”

I also didn’t connect with Rebekah and felt like Eric was her consolation prize. I absolutely sympathised with her for what she had gone through but I didn’t feel the connection with her an Eric.  Oh sure, she may have said the words plenty of times,  but she never convinced me that she truly loved Eric.

“I like you, exclamation point.”

After the wonderful interactions, acceptance and understanding between Jace and Eric in Hot Ticket I was so looking forward to more of that. Of delving deeper into Eric’s psyche, of getting to know this man on another level but sadly it never eventuated.

Gitte: One of my stars goes solely to Trey. His parts in the story were classic Sinners and I loved them. He brought it back whenever he was in a scene. To be honest I relished every moment I got to spend with the Sinners all together, on the tour bus, in concert….but they were sadly scarce. I’m sure I will be in a minority here and yes it pains me because I’m such a HUGE Olivia Cunning fan, her books are favourites of mine no question. I cannot fault her writing nor her ability to find new inventive ways to make that blood pressure rise! Wicked Beat just fell short for me.

How much did we love those scenes with Trey Jenny?!

Jenny:  Oh we loved them very much!! The scenes with Trey won me over completely, and I so eagerly awaited the scenes when the other Sinners boys were involved! It was in these scenes I could see Eric’s character emerging. These ended up becoming the focus for me, but you’re right. There just weren’t enough of them.  My eyes would light up and my heart would race every time Trey came on the scene and THAT scene….wow! Well, I don’t think I’ll ever recover from that.  HOT doesn’t even describe it and didn’t we discuss that one at length!

“Are you really standing here jerking it?” – Trey

The Sinners books will forever be up there as one of my favourite series. Without a doubt! I love them and I love these boys.  I’ve loved watching and witnessing these men become a family, I’ve been with them while they’ve found the love of their lives, and I’ve been absolutely swept away as they have discovered the love they have for one another. They’ve entertained me, they’ve made me laugh many a times and they never fail to get my temperature soaring.

Trey and Jace became the highlight for me. Their stories were told with such feeling, such emotion, laughter and pain.  Yes, they were extremely HOT – off the scales hot, but they were balanced and gave us a bit of everything.

“Trey squeezed his eyes shut and clung to Brian as if he planned to never let him go.”

Unfortunately this wasn’t the case with Wicked Beat.  It was missing the emotional intensity and the character depth of the other books.  Yes it was hot, no doubt about that, but, at the end of the day, I needed more. In saying that, Sinners fans will want to get their hands on this one.

I’ll tell you one thing.  I am hanging out for Dare’s book when Olivia releases  her new series.  Bring it on!

Gitte: 3.5 Stars
Jenny: 3.5  Stars

TIE ME (One Night With Sole Regret #5) by OLIVIA CUNNING

tie me

His heart is tied to his past…
When Sole Regret’s rhythm guitarist, Kellen Jamison, vowed to be faithful to his fiancée and love her forever, he meant it. He never expected to lose her to cancer so early in life. He’s certain he’ll never love again, but destiny has another plan for him.

Her heart is tied to her work…
Grammy-winning classical composer and piano virtuoso, Dawn O’Reilly, is overwhelmed with music-writing deadlines, a fickle muse, and high-expectations. She doesn’t have time to find love, but chance seeks to interfere with her carefully devised plans.

They’re bound to become entangled…
From the instant Kellen hears Dawn’s latest musical composition, his spirits rise. The stirring melody and the remarkable woman responsible for its creation are impossible to resist. His attraction is undeniable; her passion unquenchable. Kellen teaches Dawn there’s freedom in bondage, while her sensuality drives him to unleash his tightly controlled self-restraint. Will the ropes Kellen uses to secure Dawn’s body be the force that binds them together or ultimately sever all ties between them?

 Review by Jenny & Gitte

tie me collage

Jenny:  Gitte, we’ve had a soft spot, and let’s face it…much lust for Kellen Jamieson pretty much from the beginning of the series and we have been hanging OUT for Tie Me and have to say it didn’t disappoint one bit.

We always knew this was going to be an emotional read because Kellen was such an enigma. He was torn apart by grief and a held back from moving on following promises he made and intended to keep to the love of his life, his fiancé Sarah after losing her to cancer 5 years earlier.

“I won’t forget you, Sara. I meant it when I said forever.”

He is confused and conflicted over his feelings and behaviour with his best friend Owen.  Trying to interpret his feelings for Owen has Kellen in knots.

“He saved me a thousand times over.”

Gitte: Absolutely, I’ve loved Kellen from the beginning and been waiting impatiently to hear his voice and for him to tell us why he lives and feels the way he does.

He sure has been an enigma and the intensity of his emotions and grief wow, it was powerful stuff. It definitely was a very heart-wrenching read. Especially when he explored his relationship with Sarah, and how he felt after her death as a consequence of promises he made to her.

“Sara’s loss was still as tangible to him as it had been five years ago…”

I was amazed at his resilience to forego such an important part of his life for the love of a woman lost. The past haunting him through every breath. She still has an incredible hold on him and at times I actually ‘strongly disliked’ her for tormenting him after her death when details of their relationship was revealed as the story moved along.

So fucking alive. In his memory, she would always be alive.”

Kellen was so broken and was trying to live up to demands that were unjustified; trying to work around them in order to not upset Sara and what they had. Yeah, I really felt for him.

“There was little a man could count on in life, but he could count on the tides. And Kellen could count on memories of Sara haunting him.”

Then enter Dawn on one of the most important nights of Kellen’s  life after Sara. He’s ready to try and let go standing at the shore line on a wet stormy night, cuff in hand.

“I won’t forget you, Sara. I meant it when I said forever. I’m so sorry, honey. I just can’t…I can’t center my life around you anymore. But I won’t forget. I’ll never forget.”

Kellen is full of good intentions on this night and follows the sounds of beautiful music only to meet the woman who can help him heal and know true love again.

“You’re Neptune, right?…Lord of the sea who washed up on the beach during the storm? Do you perform miracles? Because I could use a couple of them tonight.”Dawn

Dawn and Kellen made sense. She was perfect for him in every sense of the word. She didn’t take any nonsense, she understood the importance of music and expression and most importantly of all she saw right through Kellen’s façade and she fell hard for him. She challenged him!

“I feel you, Kellen….Inside my body. Inside my soul. I feel you.”Dawn

I have to say, for me, the part of the story I LOVED was Owen and Kellen’s journey. Two best friends who watch out for each other, protects and loves the other unreservedly. Their friendship is truly beautiful. These lads have a huge piece of my heart. Their story from childhood brought a tear to my eye and I thought it was truly emotional and poignant as we are let in, and finally understand the bond they have.

So yes, absolutely love this series, LOVE Sole Regret and Olivia Cunning.  Can’t wait for her next story! Oh and as always….the passion is…well you’ll need that freezer handy!

Jenny:  There have been some intimate moments between Owen and Kellen in the past (*fans self*) and they share a friendship that is deep and beautiful with a loyalty to each other that is without question. The friendship is so solid, so beautiful.

“I’d die for him. I don’t say that lightly.”

However their recent trysts cause Kellen to question his feelings for Owen.

One part of Tie Me I especially loved was Kellen’s retelling the story of how he and Owen met. Olivia Cunning really does have a way of sharing a friendship between these two that you feel deep down.  It was such a beautiful telling of two friends meeting who would form a bond forever.

“There’s something in Owen so pure and good that I wanted to preserve it”

Dawn is a successful Grammy winning musician suffering from lack of inspiration for a music score when she spies a half-naked, soaking wet Kellen on the beach in front of her house. Now…that’s what you call inspiration!! They are drawn to one another and Kellen feels a kindred spirit in Dawn the likes of which he hasn’t felt in a long time.

“I’m trying to dazzle you with my impressive skills.”

Hmmmm Kellen certainly has some impressive skills!!!

Kellen can offer Dawn pleasure but not his heart as that belongs to one woman and he has vowed to keep his promise to her at all costs.

“I wish your heart was free, Kellen. I wish that for me, but I wish it for you even more.”

Spending a night together, defences are broken down, secrets are shared and there is a connection. Both feel it and for Kellen this only causes him further conflict and guilt.

“A kiss that touched his heart and soul. Her kiss had always turned him inside out. That’s what love did to him. That’s why Kellen needed it and at the same time never wanted to find it again.”

Dawn was such a beautiful soul and so perfect for Kellen.

“Don’t panic,” he whispered. “I’ve got you.”

I was backing Kellen and Dawn all the way. I found myself becoming annoyed with Sara over the expectation she had placed on Kellen.  He didn’t deserve to be so unhappy and I wanted him to get over her. He deserved it more than anyone.  Dawn was the perfect match for Kellen and pushed him when he needed it yet allowed him the space he required when his emotions took hold.

“Your life isn’t fucking over, Kellen. Sara’s life ended, not yours.”

This series just keeps getting better. Have to say the “twist” isn’t my favourite thing – I will reserve my judgement on it and see where it goes.  I do love the premise of these naughty sex craved rockers finding their soul mates and I’m dying to read more of this series. You’re right Gitte! You’ll need a fan or freezer – Olivia Cunning never fails to deliver that steam factor and Tie Me is no exception! Yep! We’re hooked on those Sole Regret boys.

Review by Jenny & Gitte

Gitte: Aaah another Sole Regret installment by Olivia Cunning and it does exactly what it says on the tin right Jenny?!  The Sole Regret series is addictive as are all her books really, but too short! You know what you’re going to get though and every time it’s a hit of sexy rock star book crack.

Jenny:  Totally agree. Short and sexy fun and with Olivia you’re always assured of a naughty rock star read that definitely leaves you wanting more and no more so than with this one! It gave me my fix but like anything Olivia writes….I want more!!!

Gitte: So this time it’s Owen’s turn. I loved him. He reminded me a bit of Trey actually, not sure if it was the same for you Jenny? He was gorgeous, funny, sweet & kind and he has a lot of emotional confusion in his life. I loved his relationship with Kellen, but…..I was disappointed when it didn’t take a direction I was hoping for.

I also loved Owen’s relationship with Cait (who reminded me an awful lot of Myrna in regards to the conservative ‘Mumsy’ look and fascination with arses).

Owen plays around; he does not want a relationship. He enjoys women and almost enjoys them nightly as a form of ‘therapy’ I suppose. His past has marked him and as a direct consequence his current ways are very much a result of that. Owen and Kellen have an unbreakable bond that was formed in childhood. They are there for each other in every way. I loved what they have/had!  Sigh….if only!

Owen is completely surprised by Cait whom he and Kellen meet in a sex club.  Cait is there for a bit of fun and nookie nothing else as she is newly divorced and looking to add some spark back into her life. For Owen, again, he is just looking for one night of “I’ll have the usual”.

All the rules change though from then on end and come to a pretty surprising dramatic finish…a bit of a cliff hanger right Jenny?

Jenny:  You are spot on Gitte. Owen did make me think of Trey  and Owen’s relationship with Kellen had a Trey and Brian feel about it, you know…the same sort of dynamic, yet it was also different if that makes any sense at all.   In fact, I agree with you about the Myrna being similar in style also….and ummmm yeah….arse fetishes lol but this book was very much Owen’s story and in that respect had a life of its own.

I really fell for Owen and Kellen (Kelly) when we got to know snippets about them in Share Me and I’ve been patiently waiting to read more about them in their books and learn what his story was and this didn’t disappoint though I was definitely left wanting more.

Owen was a lot deeper than we were lead to believe in previous Sole Regret books and he seemed a bit of a contradiction, this was definitely a man with two or more sides to his makeup and I loved getting to know him, though I do think we’ve only scratched the surface somehow.  Cait came across as so lacking in confidence and Owen was just the remedy for her. Caitlyn took on a new life when she was around Owen and I loved seeing her become so self assured and losing her boundaries. He brought something out in her she didn’t know was lurking inside.

Have to say I’m very, very intrigued with Kellen and can’t wait for more of THAT story!

Gitte: So yes I enjoyed it, yes I was wanting more, yes I cannot wait for the next instalment and YES I LOVE Olivia Cunning! Bring it on! Oh and Jenny, we will have to pass this one on for The Malebox to read and review right?! He still hasn’t forgotten Myrna so I have a feeling he will like Cait hahahaha.

Jenny:  Yep, I really did enjoy this naughty romp and the cliffhanger….gah, how could Olivia do that to us! This satiated my naughty rock star fix for now, but I can’t wait for more! Bring on Kellen I say! That man has a story and a half to tell and I can’t wait to hear it.

OMG!!! Gitte! Yes! This one will be perfect for our male reviewer,  The Malebox! Yes, we need to pass this one onto him, you know he loves anything by Olivia Cunning!  I think she appeals to his wicked side!  Hmmm do you think he might even fancy Cait more than Myrna? Then again, knowing him he’ll be wanting a Cait and Myrna sarny!

Hot Ticket (Sinners on Tour #3) by Olivia Cunning

hotGitte: 5 stars
Jenny: 4.5 stars

Gitte: I have to say that I didn’t know what to expect from Jace’s story, he has been a bit of a quiet mystery’ the “little man” in the background. I also worried that having read what should have originally been the last book in the series before this one may have spoilt Jace and Aggie’s story. To say I was surprised that it did not matter one bit is an understatement. I LOVE Olivia Cunning, there I said it; I have come completely out of my Olivia ‘girl crush’ closet!!

I actually now feel like I am cheating on Trey, who has always been my favourite Sinner since I started this series, because my heart is full of Jace right now.

The journey with the Sinners started as a bit of a hot and fun ride. Nothing to heavy, but each story since has gotten more and more emotional and Jace’s is by far the one who touched me most. I sat and cried for 2 hours whilst reading it unable to put it down. The emotion in this story leaps of the pages and into your heart and Jace stole mine!

Hot Ticket; was just that, HOT, it was emotional, it was funny and yeah squeezed my heart. I also loved how we were taken back to the timeline of Rock Hard. It actually made me appreciate everything even more and I have to say it makes me want to re-read so I can pay more attention to Jace!

Jenny:  The first Sinner’s books – Backstage Pass and Rock Hard were a naughty bit of fun for me and I had come to expect the remaining books would be the same.  The emotional side of the band members started surfacing in Trey’s book, Double Time and if I thought Treys book evoked emotion, then to say I was unprepared for the depth of feeling I would have for Jace’s story is a bit of an understatement.

I really can’t say what I was expecting from Jace’s book, but what I didn’t expect was to discover the heartache and pain buried in this beautiful, sensitive soul.

Jace for me has always been the unassuming member of the Sinners.  Jace was the newest Sinners member with the face of an angel, who always seemed to hover in the background.
Jaces’ story was something else.  First off I agree about the timeline.  Being set around the time of Rock Hard it afforded me the opportunity to fill in some missing pieces and once again reconnect with other band members.

You can’t help but fall in love with Jace and Aggie.  Two misfits who fit so well. The sex is trademark Olivia Cunning…’s HOT and the story passionate and emotional.  Sinner’s fans will devour this book.

Gitte:  Jace is by no means a “little man”, for so many reasons, this tough gorgeous guy packs a punch! Jace leads a pretty solitary life, even amongst company and within the band. He lives in the shadows on and off stage and with a sense of guilt he guards his inner turmoil by withdrawing and controlling his place in the world. His sole joy being music and his aim being to give back to the man he knows saved him.

As I said I completely fell in love with him.

Now, as for Aggie, I loved her. One of my favourite Sinners girls; by far.  Aggie sees and understands what other’s do not.  She is persistent and adamant that beneath Jace’s quiet façade is a vibrant, intelligent, extremely talented yet vulnerable soul. She wants to peel off the layers to get to the core where she knows tragedy lies. She does not want to change Jace in any way by giving him what he needs which is why Aggie is exactly the right woman for Jace. She understands and she wants him in any way she can, she is patient and loves fiercely.

Jace doesn’t understand the meaning of love, he doesn’t recognise it nor does he believe that someone could possibly love him, his past saw to that and shaped him. This is where Aggie completely stood out as a heroine for me. There were no irrational or frustrating behaviour from her. She was strong, devoted and level headed. She saw the man behind the façade and really I’d say this made for one emotional ride as it became all about Aggie saving Jace and him realising who he really was and understand that he was loved and could love in return.

Jenny: Gitte, I found getting inside Jace’s head to be moving, emotional, painful and well…at times, just so sad.  This beautiful, quiet, unassuming man really has completely and utterly stolen my heart.  Sorry Sed….it’s been fun and I’ve loved your company, but I was completely enamoured by this sensitive soul.

Jace always seemed to be in the background while his more gregarious Sinners members took front and centre. Little did we know the torment and suffering that had burdened him for so long, nor fully understand the acceptance he so badly craved.  The slow unravelling of his story allowed us to connect with him and really feel the depth of despair he felt at times.

Oh without a doubt Gitte, Aggie is by far my favourite Sinners girl.  She was perfect for Jace.  She would give him just enough space when he needed it but press him when she felt the situation warranted it.  Her support and commitment to him never wavered and her devotion to him was beyond question.

They are both dealing with demons and both damaged in some way, but together they make a whole and the developing relationship was felt real, it also felt very raw, and the pair of them just stole my heart.

Gitte:  I realise that some readers may have an issue with the pain for pleasure aspect and the easily banded around word of BDSM. However, go with it, it’s real, it exists and the theme of it in this story is mild and not used as per its strictest definition. This is not about the lifestyle; this is about one tortured man who finds it helps him find his release as well as a means to deal with his hidden vulnerability caused by his tragic past.

The sex in this story, well this is Olivia Cunning so of course it was HOT. The scenes where *cough* we may have had more than 2 people well, umm wow…yeah just wow!!

I loved the Sinners camaraderie and dynamics in this story. I felt their togetherness so much more and they made me laugh out loud so many times.

I always wondered why Eric was such a bastard at times to Jace so I was pleasantly surprised that I loved the connection and relationship of Jace & Eric in this story. The reasons for the why’s of Jace’s involvement with the Sinners and discovering the truth of their relationship. I cannot wait for Eric’s book now because I am intrigued after seeing a completely different side to him in.

Hot Ticket is definitely my favourite Sinners book now!

Jenny:   I must admit I’m a bit of a BDSM novice, but from what I understand, this book was more about external pain being used as a means to draw out and deal with the internal pain Jace was suffering.  I felt it was handled well and it served as a way for Jace to confront and deal with his past.  Aggie could see through him and was able to ascertain his needs and Jace had to learn to let go….to trust.

Whatever it is that’s eating you alive, you have to let it go,“, she murmured.  “Let it go, Jace”
He shook his head slighty. “I’d rather be gutted alive”

I love these Sinners men and the camaraderie they share.  The warmth, the humour, the obvious love they show one another keeps surfacing more and more with each book and they are like a big crazy family.

This book was a hard read for me at times.  Olivia Cunning did such a good job of writing Jace that at times I felt forlorn.  My heart ached for him and like you Gitte, there were times Jace’s story brought me to tears.

Eric definitely has me intrigued.  I loved the relationship between Jace and Eric.  Eric’s story, I’m sure, is going to be one we’ll no doubt love. I can only imagine where this author will take us with that book.

Hot Ticket was hot, emotional, heartbreaking, not always an easy read, but one that left me with emotions I was reeling from for days after finishing the book.

Gitte:   Oh wow…this one is definitely my FAVE Sole Regret story so far! I did love Try Me, it was a sexy short read perfectly balanced but didn’t really stir my emotions too much, I wasn’t too keen on Tempt Me, this one seemed more about the nookie not so much about a story. Then came; Take Me.  Now, I was really worried because I did NOT like Shade whatsoever in book 1 and 2. He came across moody, arrogant with a rude and obnoxiousattitude. Well how wrong was I?! He is LUSH…I LOVE him…LOVE LOVE LOVE HIM!!!

Jenny:   Absolutely agree with you about Try Me and Tempt Me Gitte.  They didn’t really grip me as a reader.  I liked them but they were just a read, whereas this book definitely had the emotional factor and gave me the character connection I seemed to miss in the first two.   Take Me is without a doubt my favourite Sole Regret to date and who would have guessed it would be Shade that would win me over.  We really didn’t like him in the first two books did we Gitte?  He was such a dick, but win me over he did – BIG TIME!  I LOVE THIS GUY TOO!!!!!!

Gitte:    Yes, the emotions in Take Me made this one ‘spot on’ for me too.  Reading Shade’s story, he totally redeemed himself, I understood why he acts the way he does and he is definitely my favourite now in this…a…mile!

Jenny:   I really felt the character connection in this book and I loved unravelling Shade’s personality and seeing his defences come down.  I liked what I saw and Shade me in his clutches  from start to finish.

Gitte:   Yeah I thought Take Me was fab. The characters were explored more; I could connect with them as well. The storyline touched me and it had great banter and seriously the sex factor was HOT! I don’t really want to say too much about his story as these books are so short that saying too much I feel will spoil the reading experience.

Jenny:   I really did love everything about this book….the characters of Shade and Amanda and Julie just stole my heart!  I don’t think I can ever listen to Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing by Aerosmith without thinking picturing that wonderful scene.  That was just mesmerising!  Loved it and for me that’s when Shade stole my heart as well.

Gitte:   Shade is the lead singer of Sole Regret and hides behind….you guessed it…his sunnies in order to hide his extremely expressive eyes. Shade (Jacob) umm wow so hot right Jenny?! His story broke my heart, under all that hot raw alpha male exterior lies a huge heart that is breaking because of his circumstances.  But not only is he completely lovable…but this man is totally shaggable too!! The bedroom scene was…just wow…right Jenny?! And his eyes…what is it about his eyes…they had me and I wanted to pull him out the story so I could gaze into them.

Jenny:   Oh he is totally shaggable for sure!!!  And yes! That bedroom scene….whoa!  You betcha that was hot GG!!   I loved exploring the story behind his nickname……..and yes THOSE EYES!  Although I couldn’t see them that didn’t stop me from drowning in them.   I loved Jacob….nice wonderful, yet totally alpha Jacob!  But….oh Shade….sweet baby Jesus Shade!

but I’ve retired Jacob for the evening.  Now it’s time for Shade to come out and play”    and play he did! And play, and play………phew!

Gitte: Amanda is real, honest, funny and so down to earth. She sees Jacob, not Shade the persona and the chemistry and banter between them is fab.  She sees the man; his hurt and want to be there for him.  She has had a thing for him for years, since her sister brought him into their lives and ceases the day when he is back from the tour which is when their journey; their “One Night” begins…

“Amanda’s panties were going to need scuba gear if they got any wetter” – this line cracked me up…totally stealing this one hahaha.

Jenny:   I absolutely adored Amanda and loved that line! I do believe you snorted repeating that line to me lol !  She was strong, funny, sexy, honest and yes, the chemistry between these two just leapt off the pages!  I love the whole best friends to lovers thing and this one is one of my favourites because I really did love and care about these characters.  She was a perfect counter balance to Shade/Jacob and she saw what was beneath the….well Shades!

Ha! There were some great lines in this book weren’t there Gitte?  I loved this one from Amanda too

“She knew he was teasing her, but that didn’t stop parts in her pants from readying themselves for a welcome invasion”

And Shade/Jacob saw her as someone he could relate to and she felt so real to him as well…..he’s used to having women for sex but Amanda reached him on a whole new level

It was refreshing to flirt with a woman who didn’t think it meant she had to fall on his dick with a missle-seeking vagina

Gitte:    So Jenny…I loved this one…my favourite so far…just wish it was longer, I wanted more Shade!!!

Jenny:    For sure Gitte! This one was my favourite too and I definitely wasn’t ready to say goodbye to Shade just yet!   I certainly would have been happy with much more!
