GAME ON (Out of Bounds #1) by TRACY SOLHEIM

With a reputation for fast moves on the gridiron and even faster moves off the field, Shane Devlin was a player in every sense of the word. Unfortunately, his bad-boy persona has made him a risky prospect as a quarterback, and only the Baltimore Blaze are willing to give him a chance. And he’s about to take a hit he never expected.

Working for the Blaze, Carly March knows too well how jocks think—and what they think with—so she’s always made a point of keeping them at arm’s length. But when she shares a kiss with the devilishly handsome Shane, she finds it hard to play by her own rules—and even harder to resist him.

Can a football hero and a business-minded beauty take it all the way? Or will their mutual attraction cost them the big game?

“the only way to win is to score……………”

Okay, I admit it, a book about an NFL player, THAT cover and a synopsis which drew me in….yep, I was looking forward to reading this book.

We first meet Carly and Shane while both are both in Mexico, separately yet come together through somewhat accidental circumstances and end up pressed up against one another on the dance floor.

There’s obvious sexual chemistry between Carly and Shane, the bad boy NFL star who is on the brink of being signed by the Baltimore Blaze.  The only club willing to take a risk on this unpredictable, bad boy quarterback.  Unbeknownst to Shane, the woman he is getting hot and heavy with on the dance floor actually works for the Blaze.

Shane arrives at Blaze headquarters for a meet and greet, and he comes face to face with Carly.  He hasn’t forgotten the woman he was pressed up against on the dance floor in Mexico.

There is no fraternizing between staff at the Baltimore Blaze, even if Carly is related to the head coach. They are both off limits to one another, yet the attraction between the pair is strong. Playing by the rules is easier said than done.

Shane has issues stemming from his past. Trying to make a name for himself in his own right, rather than in his father’s ( a former NFL hero) shadow. Shane has a hard time moving on and forgiving. He needs to shed the baggage, but has no idea how to go about it.

Carly has a heart of gold and has not had it easy.  She definitely has her share of heartbreak. Carly lost her mother under truly horrific circumstances and had lived life under the public microscope due to her mother’s infamy.  She is also dealing with here sister who is very bravely battling cancer, not to mention she is being pursued by a stalker.

There was a lot going on this book and whilst I did enjoy some parts, it didn’t completely grab me.  Unfortunately as I didn’t connect to the characters, and in particular Shane, I wasn’t invested in the story as much as I would have liked.

In saying that, I am inclined to pick up the next book in the series to see where the story takes us.

Fans of stories centred on sports players, who like their books hot and filled with drama will love this one.

A Hail Mary play for the heart.

Bridal gown designer, Julianne Marchione knows better than to lose her head at a client’s wedding. But, much to her embarrassment, a mix of migraine medication and a smoking hot football player lead to a steamy one night stand resulting in a surprise pregnancy. Julianne has every intention of leaving her NFL hookup far in the past until her son, Owen, is born with a life-threatening blood disorder that requires a transfusion—and Julianne is not a match.

Will William the Conqueror” Connelly grew up tough, shouldering the stigma of being a bastard child born on the wrong side of the tracks. He refuses to let any child face the same discrimination. When he finds out about Owen, he’s furious that Julianne kept his son a secret. But when he sees her again at the hospital, he realizes that his feelings for her go far beyond anger.

Will insists that Owen recuperate at his home in North Carolina, and he’s adamant that Julianne become his wife—even if it’s only a temporary marriage in name only. But will their simmering attraction ever lead to a real connection?  Or are they just playing foolish games?
