What happens when you fall for your best friend?

Sincerely, Carter by Whitney Gracia Williams

Just friends.
We’re just friends.
No, really. She’s just my best friend…

Arizona Turner has been my best friend since fourth grade, even when we “hated” each other. We’ve been there for one another through first kisses, first “times,” and we’ve been each other’s constant when good relationships turned bad. (We even went to colleges that were minutes away from each other…)

Throughout the years, and despite what anyone says, we’ve never crossed the line.

Never thought about it.
Never wanted to.

Until one night changed everything.
At least, it should’ve …

Just friends.
We’re just friends.
I’m only saying this until I figure out if she’s still “just” my best friend…

Sincerely, Carter

“You’ve been there for every moment of my life and I’ve been there for yours, too.”

OH GOSH we fell HEAD OVER HEELS in love with this book! A friend to lovers’ tale is one of our favourite themes and when the story is told from childhood to adulthood…cue the heart melt! Seriously….could little Carter and Ari be any bloody cuter? We were so enamoured with these two. From their childhood conversations through to their adulthood heartbreaks, these characters and their friendship was so a.d.o.r.a.b.l.e and so utterly believable.

‘…..she was my best friend – the ultimate person I could count on no matter what.’

Carter and Arizona have known each other and have been firm friends since the fourth (or is that the fifth?) grade.  From teasing children, through dating teens, through real life decisions we followed their ups downs and shared their secrets, triumphs and failures.

“…for the record, it’s going to take me a lot longer to forget.”

Told through alternate and very distinctive pov’s, it is through flashback and dialogue between the characters that we learn of their past loves, their hopes, their aspirations and their frustrations. We experience the true soul depth of their friendship and the dynamics within their relationship and were held spellbound right the way through.

“You should accept the facts by now. I know you better than you know yourself.”

Carter, Arizona and their friends delighted us with their witty banter, exasperated us with their cluelessness at what we knew was in their hearts. There were times our hearts broke…Whitney G, you certainly put us through our paces woman and left us crestfallen a few times throughout though you made up for it by putting smiles on our faces and warmth in our hearts. And let’s not forget the those heat inducing moments!

‘I wake up hoping to have you in my arms, and there are only so many days I’m going to be able to stay sane without you….’

But all through we never lost hope of Carter and Arizona finding their way, we hoped and we dreamed that these childhood friends with the unbreakable bond would see what was in front of their faces.

“Some people come into your life for a reason, some a season, and some a lifetime.”

The only reason this wasn’t a 5 star for us was because we felt the ending was a tad rushed and appeared to end abruptly. We really would have loved a little more.  In other words ‘more afters’. Or maybe, just maybe, we just didn’t want their story to end! We hope this isn’t the last we’ll see of Carter and Arizona, hmmm maybe we’ll meet them again through a side character story??  Hey Whitney Gracia Williams, are you listening?**hint, hint**

If, like us, you’re a fan of a sexy, heartfelt, funny and emotional friends to lovers story, then GRAB THIS BOOK! Your romantic heart will thank you!

mid life love

If you’d asked me what love was two years ago, I probably would’ve said, ‘It’s this amazing feeling that obsesses and possesses you; it’s what me and my husband currently have.’ If you ask me that same question today, I’ll say, ‘Please get the hell out of my face.’

Claire Gracen’s life is picture perfect. Her career as a marketing director is on the brink of being legendary, and her marriage to her high school sweetheart has never been stronger. No, wait. It has. It used to be amazing and fulfilling, but one day Claire realizes that she’s been living a lie and her best friend and husband have committed the ultimate betrayal.

Broken and depressed, Claire is in need of something new—new city, new job, new friends.

When she happens to attract the interest of the sexiest man she’s ever met, a man significantly younger than her, she immediately turns him down—only to later discover that this man is Jonathan Statham, self-made billionaire and CEO of Statham Industries. Her boss.

Jonathan Statham is unlike any man she’s met before. He’s used to getting whatever he wants—whenever he wants, and he isn’t about to take no for an answer.

Sexy, unpredictable, and charmingly clever, Mid Life Love is a story that will captivate you, entertain you, and force you to fall deeply in love with the characters.

Gitte: So we have a new one-click Author don’t we Jenny, and it’s this Lady right here. Her writing is fun, flirty, sexy and emotional. Her characters are brilliantly written; her storylines are addictive and very hot! I have to say Whitney Gracia Williams, excels at writing not only a fantastic male character but also the male POV.

“It’s going to be so fucking good that you’re going to want me to be your last.” – Jonathan

Her stories are a fabulous indulgence that you resent having to put down for anything. The passion is scorching and the emotion and romance is evocative. I absolutely love this Author! I want to hug her for bringing Jonathan into my life because wow, this man is beyond LUSH, he’s everything I want in a book boyfriend and more!!

“To the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met: Give me a chance to show you how great we could be together – Jonathan”

Jenny:  Yep, no doubt about it Gitte, Whitney G will be a 1click for us from now on!  We were certainly asking ourselves where this author had been all our bookie lives? Her stories are sheer joy, her writing is first class and Whitney Gracia Williams sure does have a knack for telling an entertaining story with pizazz and fun and her male POV’s are spot on. I love her humour, her characters and boy did she have my Kindle steaming up. Wowsers!

“Careful, Claire. I’m easily aroused by sarcasm.” – Jonathan

Yet as you said Gitte, in no way does the humour, steam and passion injected into her stories detract from the pure emotion or the warmth of the characters. Do not get me going about one Mr Jonathan Statham!! Oh my, what a man! Loved him. Could he possibly be more perfect? I really don’t think so.

Gitte: Mid Life Love was a really sweet second chance romance interwoven with scorching passion and real heart-breaking issues. I laughed, I cried and even had to go sit in the freezer a few times. I loved Jonathan all the way through this story and couldn’t get enough of him, his childhood broke my heart, his antics in the bedroom setting me on fire. As for Claire, well, even though she frustrated me and annoyed me a few times. I did understand her concerns, lack of confidence and insecurities. She’d faced one of the ultimate betrayals and suffered such tragedy, bless her.

“I’ve never been this drawn to a woman in my life. I’m not hung up on your age at all. You are. All I see is a beautiful and intriguing woman who is hell bent on frustrating the shit out of me.” – Jonathan

I can imagine many aspects of this story are true to life, which is what made me connect so much, though I’ve never come across the perfection that is Jonathan. Sure, he was a bit over the top at times with his possessiveness, his extravagance and some of the things he managed to do were pretty unbelievable. But wow, this guy sure knows how to treat a woman in every aspect, in every room, on a bridge, in a nightclub, in a museum, in a…well you get the drift I’m sure!!

“When I first saw you tonight I wanted to drag you out of here, drive you home, and fuck you in every room of my house for the rest of the weekend.” – Jonathan

However, there’s one thing that I wish hadn’t been in the story, it felt wrong and unnecessary. It created a scenario that had me absolutely livid with Claire. LIVID……I was cursing her and wanting to ask her why and how the hell could she?!

“You really need to start dating again.” – Sandra
“I will, I will – only men that are my age or a little older though.” – Claire

GAH….Jenny, how long did we have this discussion on the phone right?!

Jenny:  Hmmmm yes….. First up, I thoroughly enjoyed this story between an older woman and a younger man and Whitney Gracia Williams really did bring the insecurities felt by the pragmatic Claire to the forefront. I felt everything with her and felt as though I understood her. I’m sure her situation would resonate with a lot of women.  There were certainly times she frustrated me and tested my patience, but like you, I could sympathise with her predicament. It would be extremely difficult to open yourself up, to move on and learn to trust again, let alone commit to a relationship when you’ve experienced the hurt and betrayal that Claire did.

‘I don’t want to hear any bullshit about how “forgiveness” helps you sleep better at night” because that’s not true.” (My seven layer mattress is amazing) – Claire

It would take a lot of resolve to trust again and like Claire, your natural instinct, when faced with the desires of such a man as Jonathan, would be to expect for something to go wrong and so her trepidation is warranted, though she did put Jonathan through the wringer!

‘His silence was the loudest answer he’d given me all night. His lack of words unravelled me and forced me to break down right in front of him.’ – Claire

As for Jonathan, it is testament to the man he became that he rose from such adversity to the success he eventually enjoyed.  As for the way he treats a woman?  Bloody hell, this guy had romance, passion and imagination waaay beyond anything you could think of. Sexy, dirty talking and sooo romantic billionaire…yep, new book boyfriend!

“Oh and Claire?”
“I am the jealous type.”

Oh yes, THE scenario we discussed at length! I’ve tried to block it from my mind. I was loving…..absolutely loving this story and loving Claire. I wish with all my heart that aspect of the story hadn’t happened because like you, I felt it was unnecessary and it had my heart plummeting. It didn’t sit well with me at all and it left me seething at Claire.

Gitte & Jenny: Mid Life Love brings two damaged people together; Claire & Jonathan, both having experienced heart-break, betrayal and struggles before their paths cross. An eleven years age gap adds to our heroine’s lack of self-esteem and prevents her from truly appreciating and enjoying the romance and adoration thrown in her path. Jonathan is more mature and seems very established for his younger years. To him, what your heart feels overrules any ‘supposed obstacles’ thrown in its way. He knows what he wants and he plays every card in his hand to get just that.

We honestly loved this story with all our hearts, the writing is superb, as is the humour, the passion and the emotion.

““Are you going to promote every man that flirts with me?”
“No. I’ll fire whoever does it next.”

For us, the addition of an obstacle we can’t name for fear of spoiling the latter part of Claire & Jonathan’s journey, was unnecessary and we thought; how is this scenario even possible after the emotions involved? It’s too soon and unbelievable!! It took something away from the story for us and is reflected in our rating.

Jonathan took our hearts and we cried at the end our emotions were so high. We would have loved an epilogue or perhaps a not so rushed ending and we’re quite sad that the epilogue was left out of Mid Life Love. However, we cannot recommend this story nor this Author highly enough, like we said…we’ll be one-clicking Whitney Gracia Williams from here on in♥

You’re mine….You’ll always be mine…” – Jonathan

reasonable doubt

My cock has an appetite.A huge and very particular appetite: Blonde, curvy, and preferably not a fucking liar…(Although, that’s a story for another day.)

As a high profile lawyer, I don’t have time to waste on relationships, so I fulfill my needs by anonymously chatting and sleeping with women I meet online.

My rules are simple: One dinner. One night. No repeats.

This is only casual sex. Nothing more. Nothing less.

At least it was , until “Alyssa”…

She was supposed to be a 27 year old lawyer, a book hoarder, and completely unattractive. She was supposed to be someone I shared law advice with late at night, someone I could trust with details of my weekly escapades.

But then she came into my firm for an interview–a college-intern interview, and everything fucking changed…

Book 1 in a three part Erotic Romance Serial.  Coming Soon. Very Soon.

“What do you look like?”
“I look like a man who wants to fuck you.”

Jenny & Gitte:  Okay, we swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.  So sue us but we were drawn to this book by the first sentence of the synopsis. We know, we know…we’re perverted, what can we say, we have no defence!  You know what it’s like…sometimes you just need a bit of….well a bit of steamy sex!

“I walked in on you while you were in the restroom once…You’re at least nine inches I think.” – Jessica

Goodness! Andrew Hamilton….nine inches? Pass the smelling salts! Well, we certainly got the steam….wowsers! But we also received a a lot more in to the bargain as well.

“Things are going to catch up to you one day, asshole!” she yells as I step into the hallway.
“Karma is one hell of a bitch!” “I know.”
I toss back. “I fucked her two weeks ago….” –

These are the facts your Honour! We won’t go into much of the story here because we were so pleasantly surprised by what we found in this novella sized  book and we certainly don’t want to ruin anything for other readers so we’ll keep it brief(that’s what he said!) .

Andrew Hamilton likes sex (and we love Andrew Hamilton!). He’s a cocky, confident, and very successful Partner at a top tier Law Firm. Oh and he’s so bloody arrogant and so bloody sexy!

“You don’t like it.? – Andrew

Oh yeah Andrew…we like it. We like it a LOT! Whoa!!! Sorry, where were we? Oh yeah, the facts! So Andrew likes sex. Correction your honour…Andrew (and his cock) LOVES sex and he has a particular taste in women – well-endowed blondes!  He meets his ladies via an online dating site and one bout of sexy times per conquest is enough for player Andrew and he rarely goes back for seconds and he definitely doesn’t want a relationship. Something from his past has spooked relationship phobe Andrew. This man abhors lies and deceit and we’re gagging to find out what baggage Andrew carries from his past that has made him so cynical!

“Just because someone from your past hurt you doesn’t mean that every woman after her will.”

Alyssa signs up to an online Lawyer Chat forum – this isn’t a dating site, but a site where other lawyers can network and chat about…well…lawyer stuff. Andrew (under an assumed name) chats to Alyssa and they soon develop a friendship. What’s this? The shag machine Andrew is friends with a woman? Well, that’s all we’re going to tell you because the fun and sexy times in this book come thick and fast as does the reveals and wow! Did those reveals entertain us!

“I’m busy..”
“Then why did you answer the phone?”
“Because the sound of my voice makes you wet.”

Hmmmm….no comment your honour!!!  Andrew’s arrogance and his humour were pure fun. This man has no filter, no manners and he constantly cracked us up and he met his match in Alyssa.  He’s direct, sexy and makes no apologies for his behaviour.  Yep, we’re in lust…we mean love…we mean….oh you get our drift!

“Is there super-glue on my floor? Is that why you’re still standing there?” – Andrew

Our closing statement is this! In the case of Jenny & Gitte reviewing Reasonable Doubt we, the jury, find this book to be a hot, fun, sexy and engaging runaway success!  Where no one is who they appear to be, where lies and deceit are brought to the fore and where the ending will leave you gobsmacked! We didn’t see THAT coming!

“You know.”…”for a high profile lawyer, you have a pretty dirty mouth.” Alyssa
“You’d be surprised how much filthier it can get.” – Andrew

Oh Andrew…we’re afraid we need to see evidence of that filthy dirty mouth of yours up close and personal…just to be sure what you’re saying is the truth!

We hereby sentence Whitney G to be tied to her computer and not be allowed to move until this whole serial is completed because that ending!!!! Woman!! We need MORE!!!!!
