Our Review

“I don’t fit in your world.”
“Neither do I,” he said, his expression tender yet resolute. “So let’s make our own. We’ve done it before.”

Wow, I am completely speechless over this book!
I have only just finished reading this book and had to write a review now so that I won’t forget just how I am feeling at this moment.
I’ve loved some books over the years but I have to say this is one of the most amazing books I’ve ever read.

“I never wanted anyone else, T.J. I just wanted what was best for you.”
“You are what’s best for me,” he said, cradling my head in his arms, his legs intertwined with mine. “I’m not going anywhere, Anna. This is right where I want to be.”

I have gone through every emotion over the past couple of days reading this book and only this morning had a bit of a cry whilst trying to talk to my sister in law about it…….it made me that emotional.
I had been recommended this book by a few people and am beyond glad that I read it – I feel very blessed that I was fortunate to have the opportunity to read such a beautiful story and I can’t wait to read future books by this author.
Her writing style and alternating pov’s were just wonderful.

I felt everything TJ and Anna went through and really took my time reading this as I wanted to devour every feeling and every word written on every single page.

“I love you, Anna.”
“You weren’t supposed to fall in love,” she whispered.
“Well, I did,” I said, looking into her eyes. “I’ve been in love with you for months. I’m telling you now because I think you love me too, Anna. You just don’t think you’re supposed to. You’ll tell me when you’re ready. I can wait.”

For two days I was on that Island with Anna and TJ going through every hardship and triumph with them.
Thank you Tracey Garvis-Graves for making me realise why I love reading – when you find a treasure like this it reminds me why reading is my favourite pastime. Amazing characters, amazing story, amazing author!

An all time favourite and if a book should ever be made into a movie…this is it!

Synopsis

When thirty-year-old English teacher Anna Emerson is offered a job tutoring T.J. Callahan at his family’s summer rental in the Maldives, she accepts without hesitation; a working vacation on a tropical island trumps the library any day.

T.J. Callahan has no desire to leave town, not that anyone asked him. He’s almost seventeen and if having cancer wasn’t bad enough, now he has to spend his first summer in remission with his family – and a stack of overdue assignments — instead of his friends.

Anna and T.J. are en route to join T.J.’s family in the Maldives when the pilot of their seaplane suffers a fatal heart attack and crash-lands in the Indian Ocean. Adrift in shark-infested waters, their life jackets keep them afloat until they make it to the shore of an uninhabited island. Now Anna and T.J. just want to survive and they must work together to obtain water, food, fire, and shelter.

Their basic needs might be met but as the days turn to weeks, and then months, the castaways encounter plenty of other obstacles, including violent tropical storms, the many dangers lurking in the sea, and the possibility that T.J.’s cancer could return. As T.J. celebrates yet another birthday on the island, Anna begins to wonder if the biggest challenge of all might be living with a boy who is gradually becoming a man.
