Our Review

Just beautiful. I don’t know how else to describe this book.

I cried practically the whole way through it, I’m exhausted emotionally but despite that I enjoyed every minute of this book – if that makes sense.

I am not good at reviews, I just know how a book makes me feel and that’s what I base my opinion on.

With that in mind, this book is a definite 5 stars for evoking such emotion I am still crying while writing this and thinking back on it.

“Sometimes life gets in your way.
it gets all up in your damn way.
But it doesn’t get all up in your damn way
because it wants you to just give up and let it take control.
Life doesn’t get all up in your damn way because it just wants you tohand it all over and be carried along.

Life wants you to fight it
Learn how to make it your own.
it wants you to grab and axe and hack through the wood.
It wants you to get a sledgehammer and break through concrete.
It wants you to grab a torch and burn through the metal and steel until you can reach through and grab it.

Life wants you to grab all the organized, the alphabetized, the chronological, the sequenced. It wants you to mix it all together,
stir it up,
blend it.”

This book hooked me from page one and I could not move until I got to 100%. I just couldn’t leave Layken and Will and their families.

From the synopsis I didn’t think there would be enough romance for me is this book. How wrong was I?

I aslo loved the Slam Poetry reference and urge you to have a look at the reading of The Lake poem on the authors website, it’s amazing.

Gee I just loved this book!

Layken’s father died suddenly, leaving her to gather every ounce of strength to be a pillar for her family, in order to prevent their world from falling apart. Now her life is taking another unexpected turn…

Layken’s mother gets a job which leads to an unwanted move across country. However, a new home means new neighbours… and Layken’s new neighbour is the very attractive Will Cooper.

Will has an intriguing passion for slam poetry, and a matching passion for life. The two feel an irresistible attraction but are rocked to the core when a shocking revelation brings their romance to a screeching halt.

Layken and Will must find a way to fight the forces that threaten to tear them apart… or learn to live without each other.

absolutely one of my fav books. So totally fell in love with Layken and Will. Not a big fan of poetry but reading the poetry they did at the slam sessions was breathtaking and yes found myself reading and re-reading them throughout.
Definitely would recommend to people. Heartbreak, sadness, love and family. Really what more could you ask for?
