I LOVED this book, absolutely LOVED it! It was intense, dark, gritty, erotic, scary, thrilling…a hot MM with ménage and a BDSM element.  This story needs to come with a warning of not for the faint hearted but if you enjoy this type of book it doesn’t really get any better than this.  It’s one crazy scary journey through pain and pleasure that raises more questions than it answers.

I devoured this book from start to finish. I was hooked from the first page and I needed to know who that voice was that had our main character jumping through hoops.

Our main character Jack Pyke is such a complex character. He certainly goes through it in this story and does not have a moment’s rest; rather his journey had me on the edge of my seat shouting at my kindle and wondering what on earth was going on and when this guy would catch a break. I have to admit that half the time I had no idea what was going on, such was the brilliant writing and the complexity and mystery surrounding the characters in this story. As I said, Jack is so complex, I thought I had him sussed then slowly as each layer of his personality and character was revealed I got a better understanding of him and realised just how damaged he is and how much his being is being controlled by inside and outside influences. One of these being the perplexing character that is Gray.

Jack is joined by two other main characters, Gray and Jan. Each playing a pivotal role in Jack’s life. I suppose for me I viewed one as good for Jack and one as less so…however as the story progressed it all swung in roundabouts and I was more confused by my feelings and felt as if I resolved none of them until the very end. And then did I?

Jan is a gorgeous sweet natured guy. He has a huge heart and wants to please and love as he loves. He strives to understand and please the man he believes Jack to be. He fell for the tough alpha mechanic with the funny and vulnerable side. The side of Jack that he is slowly led to see baffles him and pushes him into a world of which he is a stranger.

As for Gray, now there’s a conundrum!  The Master- the manipulator; the domineering and powerful force who should come with one severe health warning. For Jack. For the reader. For sanity! He baffled me completely….but I was drawn to him.

We get to hear the voices of both Jack and Jan, which I was glad of because otherwise the confusion as to actions and decisions made would have been greater I am sure. I LOVED them both, especially Jack most of all. He had my heart, my compassion, my lust and my tears. This tough bad arse man with a vulnerability and I suppose fragility which at times ruled his life. Jan, I loved for his heart and his naivety which at times frustrated me but I think I understood. I think….

My only two issues with this story was the fact that it is set in England, with English characters and written by a British Author…so why all the Americanisms and spellings? In my honest opinion this made the story loose some authenticity and it made no sense of purpose. The other issue I had was the lack of communication. This lifestyle is all about clear communication in order to avoid confusion, damage and hurt. However, at times I wanted to knock three heads together and shout “Just talk to each other in plain and easy to understand language” So very frustrating at times.  Neither of these issues spoiled the story for me, however, and I only took half a star rating off because of these.

So the story of Jack, Gray and Jan is real easy to spoil so I am not going to go into the intricacies of the story line, what I will say though is that you will be part of one dangerous, sexy, scary, action filled ride that will have your adrenalin spiked, your heart racing and all your senses challenged.

If you enjoy reading outside your comfort zone, if you like having your emotions running from one extreme to the other almost in the same breath, if you enjoy having your heart broken one minute then put back together the next through humour and tender moments…..

……..If you…….

Then it all starts with….Don’t……

Loved the review and loved the sound of this one so have just bought it for my Kindle. It will be the first Jack Pyke I’ve read but as I enjoy the genre, hopefully it won’t be the last.
