WHAT A GIRL WANTS by SELENA ROBINS
SYNOPSIS
he’s got the moxie. He’s got the sexy.
“Life’s a beach. Then you have sex on it.”
Travel journalist Maddie Saunders has new attitude, and wants two new accessories to go with it. One, turn her triple-X fantasies into reality with Mr. Sex-On-Legs—her friend, Alex Donovan. And two, find her biological father to see if her gene pool has a deep end. She never expected fulfilling both wishes would take her life down a drastically different path.
“Sometimes you’re the windshield, and sometimes you’re the bug.”
Alex, an investigative reporter, grits his teeth when he accepts a joint assignment to Hawaii with Maddie. He’s vowed to never get involved with any woman he can’t walk away from. Maddie falls under the heading of “Look, but don’t touch”. Trouble is, she excels at giving him a hard time—in more ways than one.
He manages to fend off her guerilla seduction tactics until a bone-melting kiss throws his resolve into the ocean. Complicated? Absolutely. Especially when he discovers the real reason they were sent to the island…
Warning: Side effects may include but not limited to, spontaneous, uncontrollable laughter, hot flashes and dangerous chocolate cravings. Contents include, one kick-ass heroine and a sex-on-legs hero whose kiss could singe the eyebrows off a mannequin. Can be read in bed with someone special or aBOB (battery operated boyfriend). Please note: Batteries not included.
Gitte: 4 funny and sexy stars
This was a funny, mysterious and sexy friends-to-lovers story. It pretty much had everything you’d want for pure indulgence. This was my first book by this Author and I thought the characters were really well written and I absolutely love this Author’s style of writing.
Right so; we have Maddie, a travel journalist who wants to take her long standing friendship with the gorgeous Alex to a new level. Her methods for achieving this “sex boot camp” are so funny I had tears from laughing at times. But then again I completely connected with Maddie; I loved her sense of humour. Yes it was cheesy at times but it was sarcastic and spot on in the main. She has such attitude and charisma yet nurses a sweet vulnerability which is quite hidden by the easy going and comical exterior.
Maddie has no idea who her Father is and her relationship with her Mum is pretty strained and non-existent. In parts, this story was really quite emotional and heart-breaking when it came to her past and the effect it had on her future.
So this story sees Maddie trying both to find out who her Father is as well as getting some nookie with Alex purely for fun…no strings attached…oh and it is set in the stunning Hawaii of all places. Destined not to fail right?! Two extreme emotions ensues for the reader…the sadness surrounding her family and the hilarity surrounding her quest for Alex. Though both come to a tangled climax, (no pun intended!), that made for compulsive reading.
As for Alex, he is a tall and strong protective alpha male with a wicked sense of humour….he is just lush! Him and Maddie are pretty tight and constantly play pranks on each other so when she starts pretty much making every word out of her mouth a sexual innuendo the onslaught on his senses are…well…hard to keep up with. Problem is though, that Alex works for Maddie’s Uncle and does not want to ruin a great friendship. He also does not want to hurt her as he cares very much for her.
Alex and Maddie may have started their journey off as friends in Hawaii but both become pretty surprised by the turn of events and realise that they may have bitten off more than they can chew.
This story has quite a slow build up, however it sets the scene for a pretty fast paced second half. I don’t want to spoil this story as there are so many twists and turns that it should be experienced with fresh eyes. But what I will say is that this is definitely a class read that will have your pulse racing and have you laughing, swooning and maybe a bit teary too.
