Our Review
Jenny: I have to start off by saying two things…first, is our very own Male Reviewer, The Malebox moonlighting as Emma Chase because at times, listening to Drew was like having a conversation with MB, and secondly….I BLOODY LOVED THIS BOOK! Okay…now moving on! Well Gitte…wasn’t this just what the book doctor ordered? I didn’t want it to end. It had it all….it was fun and very funny. I swear I had a dopey grin on my face all the way through this! It was sexy, romantic, politically incorrect and had some of the best analogies and anecdotes I’ve ever read and was, quite simply, what a fun sexy read is all about and a whole lot more!
“For many men, their car is equivalent to the perfect woman. We can build her to look exactly how we want, we can ride her hard and she won’t complain, and we can easily trade in when a newer, younger model comes along. It’s pretty much the ideal relationship.” – Drew
What a refreshing change it was to have the male character actually narrating the whole book directly to the reader! Didn’t we just love Drew’s politically incorrect voice! It felt quite intimate having him talk to us – like we were privy to his desires and his inner most dirty and oh so flippin’ funny thoughts.
“No, I haven’t fucked her. Not that I wouldn’t love to. Trust me, if she didn’t work for me I’d hit that harder than Mohammed Ali.” – Drew
Drew Evans has it all! He’s successful, confident, unbelievably cocky, and handsome, has been mollycoddled all his life, has women falling at his feet and is such an arrogant sod and and there is nothing “pc” about Drew and boy did I love him!
“Predictably, my cock springs up like Dracula rising from his coffin.” – Drew
Drew can do no wrong…”the prince” as he’s been known to call himself, has been fawned over his whole life. He is a workaholic, but Saturday night is the night he goes out with his buddies and with the sole intention of getting laid. Yes, this guy had it all – no messy relationships or giving his heart away to a woman. Drew knows all there is to know about women…or does he? He sees them as a means to sexual gratification and a way to release his pent up stress…that’s it. He makes no apologies. He is very matter of fact, though still maintains the manners his Mum instilled in him, but to Drew….sex is sex and it is what it is.
“But here’s a fact for you – once I’m done, I’m done. I’m not the kind of guy who rides the same rollercoaster twice” – Drew
Yep…Drew lives the charmed life indeed; he doesn’t have to work hard at anything except his job, which he thrives on. Bedding women is his specialty.
“At this juncture in my life, my idea of getting to know a woman consists of finding out if she likes it slow and sweet or hard and dirty – top, bottom or from behind” – Drew
That is…until the day Kate Brooks walks into his life. This intelligent, feisty, sexy woman is Drews match in more ways than one and manages to turn Drew’s perfect world and perfect ideals upside down. She completely knocks him for a six. I loved this woman! Together, these two sizzled and their interactions and sparring had me alternating between laughing and fanning myself!

I’m dying to know your thoughts Gitte. So what did you think of Tangled?
Gitte: What did I think Jenny??? I was in Book Bloody Heaven!! This book had me laughing manically all the way through. Emma Chase is either a GENIUS or a bloke in disguise because reading Tangled I felt 100% inside the brain of a man. And you are spot on…at one stage I thought hang on this sounds just like our MB!! A hilarious, no holds barred, politically incorrect bloke with an ego the size of Mount Everest. I mean I think you’d be hard pushed to find a cockier bloke than Drew. I expect now that the dictionaries for all readers will change when looking up the definition of cocky. It will now just say: Drew. But bloody hell I loved him for it. I mean this guy came up with the expression NILF:
“She was my first crush. The first woman I ever masturbated about. My first Mrs. Robinson-like-older-woman fantasy. Sister Mary Beatrice Dugan. Yep you heard me right – she’s a nun. But not just any nun, kiddies. Sister Beatrice was a NILF.” – Drew
To have a whole book in the male leads POV is risky and dangerous territory but at no stage did I lose interest or dis-connect; in fact I loved it the whole way through. Emma Chase nailed it. The situations Drew got himself into; the anecdotes; the cocky male persistence and basically his whole viewpoint on life. I was riveted from page one with tears of laughter and huge sighs when he showed his vulnerable and sweet side. He was gorgeous, intelligent, successful, and sexy and made no excuses for his antics or his attitude.
Drew is a male slut…no two ways about it. He never sees the same woman twice, he works hard but then he plays hard. No woman can resist him. He has been spoilt rotten and has never had to fight for female attention.
“The thing women don’t understand is that a guy can want one woman and still fuck another one. Hell, a guy could love a woman and still fuck ten others. It’s just the way it is. Sex is a release. Purely physical. That’s all. At least to men it is. Okay, okay – calm down – don’t start throwing stones at me or something. At least to this man it is. Better?” – Drew
Despite being a one-time only kind of bloke; he does always treat them well…Drew is a gentleman. A serial shag ‘em and leave ‘em guy. Well that is until Kate.
Jenny: When Drew and Kate get thrown together to work on a presentation the sexual chemistry sizzles. This woman gets to him, and he wants to have sex with her more than anything.
“She looks like some mythical imp, some fabled pagan sex deity from a Roman legend. Or a well-acted porno.” – Drew
He thinks bagging her will get her out of his system. Oh, how wrong he was. This woman really got to him in a BIG way! Kate is off limits and appears resistant to Drew’s advances until one night when their sexual chemistry reaches its peak and they are drawn together.
“It’s like Fatal Attraction, without the creepiness” – Drew
A series of incidences ensues; miscommunication occurs resulting in Drew suffering from a broken heart which he attributes to the “flu”. That is, until he has the epiphany that he’s in love with this woman and after a kick up the arse from his friend and sister, realises he has to pull out all stops to woo her back.
“So…I have a plan. And failure’s not an option. Because this isn’t just about me, about what I want. Not anymore. It’s about what Kate wants too. And she wants me. Sure, she’s fighting it – but it’s there.” Drew
And woo her he does as only Drew knows how and what follows will have you in stitches. And Drew does NOT lightly woo!
“Edward Cullen can take his stupid heroin and OD on it. Kate is my own personal brand of Viagra.” – Drew
Drew’s wooing had me alternating between ahhing and laughing hysterically. This guy had an imagination and a half and I was cracking up at his antics. This book is my new crack. There was incorrectness in abundance and I thrived on every single second of it. The term NILF?? Oh god, so wrong but so funny! Only Drew could get away with that! This book really did bring it all. Every character was witty, charming and engaging! It was sexy, hot, fun, naughty and oozed the romance we love. It really did have me completely invested from the first to the last page. I can’t say more than READ IT and enjoy every minute. I’m still grinning from ear to ear thinking about it. I want to pick it up and read it all over again! Please Emma Chase, let there be more to come!

With so many memorable quotes Gitte, I bet your was highlighted like crazy. I know mine was!
Gitte: Can I just say first of all Jenny that I WANT to be wooed by Drew. This guy does not do anything by halves…he goes the full hog with hilarious methods. At some point in life the player meets the perfect match and Drew and Kate really were the perfect sparring partners.
“She’s magnificent – angelic – gorgeous. Pick a word, any fucking word. The bottom line is, for a moment, I forget how to breathe.” – Drew
The sexual chemistry was intense, but not only that; Kate was a fabulous heroine. She gave as good as she got and the passion and intensity both in and out the bedroom/elevator/office …did I forget somewhere? Well it was HOT!!
Everyone but Drew can see a different side of him when he’s around Kate. All his mates are convinced that this is more than lust; competitive working relationship…they all see the evidence around the office where Kate and Drew are forced to work in such close proximity.
“…You and Kate. It’s obvious you have a thing for her.” – Matthew
“Yeah I do have ‘a thing’ for her. An extreme dislike of her. We can’t stand each other. She’s a pill. I wouldn’t fuck her with a ten foot dildo.” (Okay that’s not true. I’d so fuck her. But I wouldn’t like it. Yeah you’re right. That’s not true either.) – Drew
But….yeah Kate was not single. Huge inconvenience for Drew. Kate is engaged to “Cum Stain” a.k.a Billy. Now Drew, well he is not used to the chase or the excessive wooing. Then again…neither is Kate.
“I am a bad, bad boy. Think Kate will punish me if I tell her how bad I am? I know. I know. I just can’t help myself.” – Drew
Then it all changes for our Drew….Kate breaks his one night rule and gets under his skin making her way to his heart. He realises that this time he wants more…he wants everything with Kate.
“Kate is the real deal. Genuine. She’s all about quality, not quantity.” – Drew
Then Drew cocks up and he ends up with ‘man flu’….uh huh…well that’s what he says!
“I’ll never get tired of looking at her. Or kissing her. Pussy whipped, thy name is Drew. Yeah I know. It’s okay. I don’t mind.” – Drew
I loved this whole hilarious and romantic journey…Drew and Kate was a class act. So were their friends and family; every character shone and played a part.
“Matthew and I have been friends since birth. That means every kiss, every breast, every hand job, blow job, pearl necklace, and lay has been shared and discussed.” – Drew
Oh and I have to mention the gorgeous and funny Mackenzie, Drew’s 4 year old niece. She stole every scene she was in and her interaction with Drew was both funny and sweet.
“I don’t think Uncle Matthew can come Momma. He been too busy bein’ pussy whipped. What’s pussy whipped, Daddy?”
As for highlighting quotes, I think the whole book was highlighted or had turned pages. It was rude, indecent, tear inducingly hilarious, romantic and passionate.
It was Bloody Brilliant and the minute I finished I wanted to do one of those slow clap standing ovations in honour its Author Emma Chase!
