SYNOPSIS

Who is Sebastian Lock?

Sophia had never felt attraction like that before. Raw. Electric. Irresistible. Swept off her feet by the dashing, enigmatic billionaire Sebastian Lock, she was taken on a journey of self-discovery, taken to places she never dreamed she’d go.

But things are never as simple as they appear. Sophia’s trust is a fragile thing, and Sebastian seems insistent on testing it. He has his own demons to battle, and nobody has brought them to the fore like she has.

As their relationship deepens, and Sophia begins to break down his walls, all that greets her are more questions. Why is Sebastian fighting so hard to keep her at a distance? Who is the girl on the background of his phone? And why does the strange tattoo on his chest seem so familiar?

These puzzles plague her, but as Sebastian’s mysteries begin to unravel, she must face an entirely different truth. Staying in the dark may be painful, but finding the answers could be deadly.

This review will be kind of hard to write because I don’t want to give any spoilers for new readers of this series. I was looking forward to this second installment of Sophia and Sebastian, mainly to learn more about him, as he intrigued me in Locked. What I will say, is that we follow their “relationship” as it moves into that dangerous territory of becoming something more….something that involves more than sexual attraction.

“He gave a tiny shake of his head.”

“Of course it’s not just you.” – Sebastian

Okay, I’ll start with Sophia. I loved her in book #1; she was strong, sassy and didn’t take any nonsense. She knows what she wants and she goes for it. Did I love her in book #2? Yes, however, I found that some of her spark got lost. She adopted a bit of a defeatist attitude all of a sudden.

Now, I can understand it to a certain extent, because of what she went up against in this one. But….I can’t help think that her character would have benefitted from this being a two-book series rather than three. Right at the end she does get some of her spirit back and she begins to question and fight for what she wants. She needs answers and becomes confident enough again to confront Sebastian despite what it’ll ultimately cost her.

Now, as for the man that is Sebastian, well he truly is alpha cockiness personified. What woman could possibly resist him? Not me, that’s for sure. We learn some of his background which explains his reluctance to get too involved with a woman; why he goes for the un-defined and why he never lets feelings be part of the equation. He’s still reluctant to share and give himself completely; yet he shows a bit of a vulnerable side and reveals more than he intends. There are a few scenes that melted me, where the underlying emotion was so strong that I would have forgiven him anything.

However, when the pursued becomes the pursuer….surely he should not be surprised when answers to all the secrets are demanded? So yes, still so much mystery and suspense as well as steamy moments and passion.

Overall I enjoyed Lockout very much. Yet again, the writing is great and this Author had me wanting more. I do think though that the length was my main issue again. In my opinion these books are too short; by the time I was completely caught up in the story again, it was just about done. Lockout is longer than Locked yet I just didn’t feel satisfied. I can only compare it to getting quick sneak peeks into someone’s life. If I could have done this journey over I think I would have preferred to wait and read all three in one go and treat it as one book. Oh and there’s one hell of a cliff-hanger…yeah it’s made me real antsy for the final installment. I can’t wait to find out how it all ends! Bring on book #3!
