Our Review

Gitte: Tessa Bailey has a formula and it’s a formula that works! I loved this story, as I have every single one in this series. Again, it’s a short hit of well written characters in a great story doused with emotion, passion, drama and thrills.

We have Daniel, the epitome of alpha maleness; gorgeous cocky and sexy, he pulls no punches. Oh and he has one heck of a filthy mouth, LOVED him! Then we have the sweet, quick witted and feisty Story who’s his perfect match as she takes no nonsense and sees straight through our Daniel.

The connection between Daniel and Story was intense and passionate. Neither saw it for what it could become, rather it came at a time when, each for their own reason, needed something the other could provide. Story has just come out of an engagement as her fiancée broke it off two weeks before their wedding. And Daniel….well he’s a player and hides his true self behind this facade.

When these two meet, the atmosphere is pretty intense. Story’s Dad is Daniel’s boss so the circumstances are not so great. They’ve already had a ‘moment’ before realising, but the strong attraction is already there so any ‘warnings off’ by Dad are tossed aside.

In ‘Officer Off Limits’, we almost have a bit of a role reversal, which was really refreshing. Story is hesitant to see more into their relationship; almost wanting it to be a one-off. Whereas Daniel sees something more, something concrete. Something he’s never had before.

“Belong to me, Story. Even if it’s just for a little while.”

Daniel has had a real traumatic past and never received love, yet it’s a true credit to him how he fought back and made a life for himself, a life to be proud of. Ultimately he knows what he wants and when he sees it, he pulls no punches to try and get it. Using whatever means he sees fit, though his heart is in the right place. Daniel wants Story but is worried of the possible outcome of their ‘relationship’ which was only meant to be short lived from the onset.

“Looks like you got stuck with damaged goods. Disappointed?” (Umm hell no!! Ooops sorry…)

Story has to work through a lot in her head and is hesitant to rush into anything. She too has not had an easy past. Her reluctance to settle and also make any quick decisions makes her dig in her heels. I completely understood where Story was coming from. You’re less likely to get hurt by guarding your heart. However, Story sees the man Daniel is, the man his past has made him and in her words:

“She would never be satisfied with anything less…..He’d blindsided her, ruined her, and addicted her in one single evening…..”

“The man took a tragedy and used it to give himself purpose. The man is magnificent.”

So yeah, I LOVE this Author and I LOVE this series; can’t wait for more! What did you think Jenny?

Jenny: Gitte, I loved it! Tessa Bailey has become my “go to” author when I need a quick, hot and entertaining escape and so far this author has never failed me. Officer Off Limits once again delivers that formula you talk about Gitte. The hot, dirty talking alpha male and a cop to boot! The sex is hot, the talk is dirty but Tessa always manages to provide a good story with well developed characters into her short stories and I love them!

Once again we have a hot alpha male in Daniel. The Hostage Negotiator who is just divine!

“A man like Daniel could read the phone book and make it sexy.” Oh yes he could!

Daniel is indeed a player, has women falling at his feet yet it is Story who brings him to his knees.

“He’d fallen for this girl. The realization felt like pain and perfection at once.”

Story was a strong character. Story has recently come out of a relationship she had lost herself in and feels Daniel could be the rebound guy. But Daniel is having none of it and pursues Story with a vengeance.

These two sizzled on every page. The sexual chemistry and the passion is all there. Loved this instalment and can’t wait for more! Tessa Bailey’s books may be short but she sure does pack a lot into them. This author never disappoints.

Synopsis

Story Brooks’ fiancé just called off their wedding two weeks before the happy day.
