chance of rain cover

SYNOPSIS

The only things Natalie Bouchard wants to change are the weekly specials in her Gram’s diner. So when her high school sweetheart strolls back into Dearling, Texas, she allows herself to indulge in a little flirtation, but that’s as far as it goes.

Navy SEAL Sawyer Nolan has returned to sell his father’s land and get the hell out, no matter how enticing he still finds Natalie. Until a storm rolls over the Texas hills, stranding them together at the farm…and the memories of their steamy past lead to a reunion filled with hot days and long nights.

Soon Natalie’s so far under Sawyer’s skin he can’t imagine being without her. But he has a lot of history in Dearling he’d like to leave behind, and Natalie is practically married to this town. If Sawyer wants to be more than just another person who leaves Natalie, he’ll have to give his hometown—and himself—one more chance.

Gitte & Jenny : 4.5 Beautiful Romantic Stars

Gitte: See this story right here everyone? This is why I love to read romance. ‘Chance of Rain’ is the epitome of romance, it is the definition of romance. This is the type of story that leaves you with a satisfied heart that’s overflowing with gushy love and warmth and you will swoon and fan yourself as you get caught up in this second chance romance that just makes you feel without any unnecessary angst and drama.

‘I love this town, I loved you, even if it was only puppy love. Why did you leave?’

I loved every single minute I spent reading ‘Chance of Rain’ and was gutted when it ended. I wanted more and pouted for about fifteen minutes as I kept trying to click my kindle pages hoping there was some sort of epilogue somewhere. I wanted an epilogue, I craved one, but that’s because I’m a moaning spoilt reader who fell in love with two beautiful, funny, passionate and brilliantly written characters.

“No place in the world that don’t have storms,…”

Oh and as for Amber Lin, well she was already on my shelf as a favourite Author of mine and yet again she proved just why. Her writing style is beautiful, flawless and so evocative you live and breathe her stories. ‘Chance of Rain’ was sweet and emotional, it was hot and passionate and it had humour. Most of all though, it had that beautiful romance we all crave to escape into.

“Thank you.”

“For what?”

“For being you.”

You felt it too didn’t you Jenny?

Jenny:  You’ve hit the nail on the head G, I felt exactly the same and couldn’t agree more!  Your comment was spot on because this was indeed the epitome of a romance story.  It wasn’t drowning in angst, never felt laden down with drama, yet it had just enough of both to keep me interested and engrossed. Chance of Rain was quite simply a welcome escape and a perfect way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon.

I devoured every word and the imagery used by this author in regards to setting and characters made me feel as if I was part of this small town community.

‘Strange that they could see each other so clearly when their own self-doubts were obscured. Strange but also right. Like looking in the mirror and finding what she’d been searching for. ‘

Coming from a city I love to escape in these type of books and this author most definitely transported me there to live every minute of Sawyer and Natalie’s beautifully sweet, touching and sexy story.

Gitte: Natalie and Sawyer were brilliantly written characters, they both had their demons which kept them from grabbing life by the scruff of the neck and from following their desires and true dreams.

‘She didn’t want to be content anymore, stagnant…’ ‘Her whole life was on hold.’

We follow their journey to find their place in life and work through errors of the past carried out by others as well as themselves. It was truly beautiful and both characters were written with such depth and emotion that despite the length of this story I found I completely connected with both Sawyer and Natalie and I fell in love with them and their story! They gave each other strength and both were faced with questioning themselves and their life.

‘She wanted a home and a family, but she also wanted the thrill, the passion. She wanted her husband so hot for her that he came up behind her in the middle of the day to make love. Was that too much to ask?’ – Natalie

I guess you could say both went on a journey of self-realisation aided by lust and love. And let me tell you, the chemistry between Natalie and Sawyer was pretty fierce and whoa….there were freezer moments a plenty, some of the hottest I’ve read!

‘Why not enjoy her softness, her strength when he had the chance? He couldn’t imagine her even wanting to stay after seeing first-hand how wrecked he was.’ – Sawyer

Jenny: Yes G and didn’t we love the journey Amber Lin took us on with this story about two wonderful yet flawed characters learning to deal with their pasts which was beautifully written, effortless to read and I really connected to these Sawyer and Natalie. My heart ached for the missed years and misunderstandings shared by these two.  Though there were misunderstandings, they never felt convoluted and everything seemed to flow perfectly.

“It will be okay, I’ve got you.”

Although this was a shortish story…though longer than novella length, it certainly didn’t lack in any department. . Everything was described beautifully, the characters held my heart and the steamy scenes were…..well…..VERY steamy! Goodness….. Pass the ice bucket!

“If it were anyone, it would be you.”

Yep, I loved this romance about life in a small town, about two people running from their past. Sawyer running and never wanting to relive it and Natalie running yet being grounded by it in the present. It’s about second chance love, moving on, loving and living and about always following your heart.  This is one to add to those TBR’s!

“I don’t want to disappoint you,” he whispered. “I don’t want to let you down.”
