HERE BE SEXIST VAMPIRE (In Your Veins #1) by SUZANNE WRIGHT

Jenny:  So, this book has been taunting us on our reads list for months and after reading Feral Sins by this author to say we excited to finally delve into this one would be an understatement. We were gagging for it weren’t we Gitte?  First off, we love this author’s kick arse heroines. She really does write a cheeky, fun woman with no filter with the perfect balance of strength and vulnerability and Sam was no exception. I revelled in the sexy and witty banter between her and Jared and although this one didn’t wow me as much as Feral Sins, I was nonetheless completely enthralled with the hot, sexy, virile, sensual kick arse Jared and sassy, smoking hot Samantha and both made this a truly entertaining, fun and sexy tale that’s for sure!

“I thought you wouldn’t want to work for a sexist twat.” – Jared
“I earned a spot. And you know it. I suppose whipping you into place didn’t’ do anything for my chances, seeing as you obviously have an ego as swollen as a horse’s rigid dick.” – Sam

It sometimes got a little bogged down with the explanations of the gifts possessed by the various Vampires and the fighting scenes but I have to say did the build-up of the unresolved sexual tension between Sam and Jared had me shouting “for the love of god, just shag her!” at my Kindle! Holy hell it was excruciating and I think I was more frustrated than the pair of them. When it finally happened it was explosive and it was HOT! What about you G, did the sexual tension just about kill you?

Gitte: Umm hell yeah it did J but once we got it, well it sure was hot!! I have to say I really enjoyed this story but I agree it was a bit longwinded considering the crux of the story was so short in comparison. I loved the fight scenes though, they were so cool! As for Jared, he is now one of my fave vampires, I bloody loved him, so cocky, funny and very very sexy! I loved the banter between Jared and Sam. Oh and the sexual tension in this story was soooo frustrating!!

Being back with sexy, alpha vampires and a cool kick-arse heroine was brilliant! I’ve missed that!

Jenny:  Commander Jared Michaels…be still my beating heart! I LOVED him! Although he was totally clueless in the ways of wooing a woman, especially considering every woman wanted to bed him and it was they who did the chasing. Not to mention he already has three women ready and willing to do his sexual begging, yet despite this I found him to be really upfront with his feelings for Sam. As much as they confused him, he owned them.

‘The wanting was quickly becoming aching. I didn’t want to be like this anymore; constantly thinking about and wanting someone that I couldn’t have but who my soul seemed to think was mine.’ – Jared

He pretty much laid it on the line how he felt for her and experiencing the butting of heads between these two really set your pulse racing. Both are headstrong and unwilling to bend, yet they possess an undeniable connection that develops from an unquestionable lust for one another.

“And I can’t wait to hear that husky voice you’ve got calling out my name.” – Jared
“Sorry, I don’t call out anyone’s name. It’s nothing personal.” – Sam
“You will for me. You will for me.” – Jared

Jared was extremely sexist, but he was such an alpha man that Sam coming in to assist the group threatened his “man” status and he reacted accordingly. Jared could do no wrong in my eyes. Let’s face it, who can resist a hot, alpha vamp who oozes sex appeal? Certainly not me, but Jared more than met his match in Sam, but in the same instance she brought out the softer side of Jared and she taught him a thing or two.

‘For the same reason that the idea of her in danger scared the crap out of me: I loved the crazy bitch.’

What were your thoughts on Sam, Gitte?

Gitte: I have to say I absolutely loved Sam! She was a tough chick, she kicks arse with her attitude, her strength, her out of this world skills and her sarcastic sense of humour. I wanted to be Sam so bad, not only ‘because she could blow shit up with the flick of a wrist but because of the luscious Jared.

‘How could you be attracted to someone who made you so pissed off that you’d considered burning their balls with a lighter? ~ Sam

Sam was turned and forced into the role of her Sire’s consort. She hasn’t been particularly treated well so when she’s given the chance to leave and serve somewhere else, she literally jumps at the chance. Her story is quite sad but this girl is hard as nails and takes no shit from anyone.

“I’ve done things in my time that would make the curly hairs in your pants go straight. Female or not, I reckon I’ve got bigger balls than you have.” ~ Sam

She is adamant that no one should use her or take advantage of her. When Sam gets angry, wow does she wipe the floor with whoever’s crossed her. To be fair though, every single one of them deserves it! She is one dangerous chick but has a vulnerability too. She won’t fall in love because love gets you hurt. She also wants to assert herself as Sam, not someone’s plaything or weapon.

 “All right, first of all, I’ll never be anyone’s consort ever again in my life….I don’t want some fairy-tale relationship – I couldn’t give that much of myself anyway when I’ve only just got me back.” ~ Sam

Sam fought Jared’s advances every step of the way physically and verbally. This girl sure has a filthy mouth and hooray for twat and wanker; it says it all!!!

J&G: This author did a fantastic job of creating a fantasy world. If you’re looking for a Vampire book which’ll have you chomping at the bit over the sexual sparks between the two main characters, chuckling at the witty exchanges & fanning yourself over the hot vampy nookie then this is it! If you want a complete escape with a host of fun characters and action all the way, then pick this one up.

It doesn’t end on a cliff-hanger but we will definitely be picking up further books in this series and this author has now been added to our 1Click list. We love the strong and sassy heroines and the hot possessive alpha …ummm not to mention well-endowed **cough, cough** ‘A horse would be envious of what I was looking at right now.’ – Sam…males she gives us in her stories. She hasn’t failed yet to thoroughly entertain us and we can’t wait for more! This is one hot Vampy book you need to add to your TBR’s!
