unfixable

SYNOPSIS

A new adult novel from Entangled’s Embrace imprint…

He’s the last thing she wants…but the only thing she needs.

Willa Peet isn’t interested in love. She’s been there, done that, and has the shattered heart to prove it. Ready to shake the breakup, she heads to Dublin, Ireland. But there’s a problem. A dark-haired, blue-eyed problem with a bad attitude that rivals her own. And he’s not doling out friendly Irish welcomes.

Shane Claymore just wants to race. The death of his father forced him off the Formula One circuit, but he’s only staying in Dublin long enough to sell the Claymore Inn and get things in order for his mother and younger sister. He never expected the sarcastic American girl staying at the inn to make him question everything.

But even as Willa and Shane’s fiery natures draw them together, their pasts threaten to rip them apart. Can Shane give up racing to be with the woman he loves, or will Willa’s quest to resurrect the tough-talking, no-shit-taking girl she used to be destroy any hope of a future together?

“Above all, love is stubborn as hell.”

Jenny:  When I’m after a nice naughty read with guts, I know Tessa Bailey is my go to girl. She sure knows how to steam up a Kindle doesn’t she Gitte?  I’ve loved everything this author has written, and I have to say Unfixable is up there as one of my favourite to date. It was swoony, sweet, funny, romantic and sexy. What more could I have asked for! Whilst it may not have been as heat inducing as her other reads, it was certainly up there on the sexy scale and Shane Claymore!! Wowsers!! That guy was something else!

“That’s right, girl. Scream my fucking name. Only mine.” – Shane

I love it when you read a book in one sitting, when you’re completely swept up in the story, the characters and the setting and that’s exactly how I was all the way through Unfixable. I felt as though I’d taken a brief holiday in Ireland, met some wonderfully warm, endearing and giggle worthy characters, enjoyed some romance that made me giddy and had to demist my Kindle once or twice!

“I thought Ireland was the land of one thousand welcomes.” – Willa
“I’m knocking it down to nine-hundred ninety nine.” – Shane

The one liners floored me and well….it was an afternoon well spent and I bloody loved this book Gitte!

Gitte: Tessa Bailey will always be a one-click Author for me. Her stories have everything I love to experience, feel and swoon over. Unfixable was no exception and once again her writing swept me up and flawlessly carried me right to the end. Though it is very different in some respect to her previous work, it didn’t have any bearing on how I felt upon finishing. I loved the story of Willa and Shane, but I have to admit it wasn’t my favourite by Tessa Bailey. Nevertheless I swooned and I was invested in the characters and their emotional self-discovery journey.

“It’s inevitable, Willa. We are inevitable. When you stop fooling yourself, come find me.” – Shane

I absolutely loved the setting; Ireland induces a sense of romance and nostalgia I suppose. The banter and humour was spot on and had me laughing and reminiscing. The pub setting, the people, well I was game, so I was. There’s never a dull night in an Irish pub that’s for sure.

“Irish men are a complicated sort. They’ll knock you on your arse when you’re not looking.” – Orla

Jenny: We first met Willa, the strong willed teenage sister of Ginger Peet in Protecting What’s His. Willa is fleeing a rather painful breakup and is of the opinion she is incapable of love. She feels damaged and needs to find herself again. Where better than in Dublin, Ireland. Hey, we could think of worse places to find yourself, and let’s face it, who could be lucky enough to end up at the Claymore Inn, which is currently being run by the hot and gorgeous Shane Claymore who is on hiatus from the Formula One Circuit. Insert heavy, breathy sigh…

“You can’t fix me with a few magic words.” – Willa
“Willa….there’s nothing to fix.” – Shane

It’s pretty much hate at first sight for Willa and Shane with lots of lots of sexual chemistry and romantic moments throw in and I savoured every moment! These two sizzled whenever they were in the vicinity of one another and I was shouting ‘do it, for the love of god, do it!’ to my Kindle! And when they do…..holy smokes it was as hot as you thought it would be!

“One more thing, Willa………if I can’t touch you, then neither can that fucker.” – Shane

There is so much I loved about Unfixable. I pondered and felt sad at the prospect of Willa having to head back to Chicago once her Dublin adventure came to an end. I fell in love with the quirky characters I met along the way. I revelled in Willa and Shane’s cat and mouse chase as they shed their issues and realise something that was right under their nose, but does it come too late?

“That’s right girl. Fight me. Show me you give a damn.” – Shane

I was with Shane and Willa every step of the way. I know you felt a little differently to me on this Gitte and we both did have a little issue in regards to Shane’s age didn’t we?

Gitte: Willa’s had a real rough and heart-breaking start in life; yet she’s had the love and support from her sister Ginger when it mattered.

“Love comes in many forms. It’s not always sweet. Or comfortable. Sometimes it’s selfish and consuming. Volatile. It makes choices for you. It demands you obey it, not taking no for an answer. And it’s usually right. It knows you better than you know yourself.” Ginger

Their relationship is beautiful and I remember how much love, affection and support Ginger showed Willa from the moment they got away from their troubles. Willa has issues, boy does she have emotional hang-ups. She tried to change for love yet failed prior to her ‘escape’ to Ireland.

“If someone like you tries, you don’t fail. Deep down you really didn’t want to change.” – Shane

I understood why, yet found her ‘hating’ attitude towards others and herself rather over the top. Especially upon meeting Shane who actually saw straight through her. I guess for me it didn’t quite correlate with her obvious sweet and vulnerable side. The rudeness was out of character in my opinion and was focused upon too much in order to fit a romantic story-line with the whole cat-mouse theme you mentioned, Jenny. Leaving her feisty would have been enough in my opinion.

You hated me.” – Willa

“Never. Not for a second. God, I never had a fucking chance.” – Shane

I absolutely LOVED Kitty and adored Faith. I thought they were fab characters, especially Kitty. Her story is so sad, yet the way in which it is written with interwoven humour is classic! I’d love to have Faith’s story with her musician boyfriend. What a laugh those blokes were!

Now, as for Shane, deary me, he was incredibly lush, so much so I would have loved an insight into his head early on in the story! Why did he display so much anger towards Willa upon meeting? What had his hackles rising? Because if it was sexual tension only, it just didn’t carry over to me. And really…how old was he, Jenny? Did I miss this information? Because I really needed to know this, in some respects, to understand some of his behaviour in the beginning. His story too is quite sad and heart-breaking, yet his persona is intriguing and oh so sexy! I may have melted several times!!

‘Shane Claymore kisses me like the world is ending.’ – Willa

So, reading over this, I guess it sounds somewhat negative. It really isn’t, what it shows is that whilst it did take me a while to get into Unfixable because of the issues I mentioned above, I did form an emotional connection to the characters and understand their struggles and consequential behaviour. This through the beautiful heartfelt and humorous writing of Tessa Bailey. Oh and let’s not forget, Tessa ROCKS the heat factor. We didn’t get as much this time round but what we got was HOT! Also, being back with Ginger and Derek was just the icing on the cake in the end!

Jenny & Gitte: We love it when we read a book and feel the same and relive every moment while discussing, but we equally love it when we finish a book and have differing opinions on some aspects of the story. That makes book discussion time fun! However, there is one thing we both agree on and that is, this author sure can write a story! Tessa Bailey will always be a 1click for us and we absolutely recommend picking up Unfixable!

“How do you manage to see the best in everyone, Willa, but only the worst in yourself?” – Shane
