The King: 5 blinding – back to basic – Stars!

This is book #12 in the BDB series, Ladies and Gents, so I’m not even going to get into the nitty gritty. You know what’s up if you’re loving this series as much as I am. If you’ve never read it, then do yourselves a favour and go get what in my opinion is THE BEST paranormal series out there. Where else are you going to find Vamp Brothers who epitomise everything hot, sexy and bad arse? Heroines who rock and a story that’ll keep you invested, addicted, laughing and swooning? Well, right here that’s where…and you’ll not be disappointed!

ALL HAIL THE KING!

J.R Ward is the Queen of paranormal in my opinion and no matter how long this series goes on for I’ll be gagging for the next book in line. Sure, at times a story may slightly lose its way, however, in The King we went back to what is so bloody amazing about this Author and this series. The humour, which is classic and rib tickling, was spot on and was once again brilliantly woven into the storyline. The dynamics and banter between the characters was magnified this time round and had my heart pounding, my pulse racing and I just couldn’t let go of my kindle. It was blinding perfection! True!

“Wrath – Beth x Overnight = Psycho-hose Beast”

Saying that this is Wrath and Beth’s story would be somewhat untrue. Sure, we had Wrath’s beginnings which had a consequential impact on their current predicament and ran alongside their present until it came to a crescendo at the end. It was pure magic and I loved…absolutely bloody loved how it all came to be. It gave me goose-bumps at the end and I may have cried a tear or two.

“There was a sniffle from the crowd. At which point, Rhage’s voice hissed, “What. This is beautiful, ’kay? Fuck all y’all.”

So yeah, alongside their story we had Sola & Assail as well as Trez and iAm whose book is next in line. Also, we had Xcor and Layla. These side stories were all captivating and had me inhaling every word desperate for more!

Sigh….I have to say that I’m in love with Assail who’s sooo bad but oh so good as well as filthy kick arse Trez and I really really want their stories like right NOW! Oh who am I kidding….I really want iAm’s too; he intrigues me immensely and I love the hidden vulnerability in him! The confessions in The King had me reeling as well as mesmerized! As for Xcor….hmmm this man is a contradiction and I’m not sure yet….

“Knock her dead, my man.”

“Oh no.” Xcor shook his head.” That shan’t be necessary. This one I like.”

Now, I have to say that I fell in complete love with Wrath in The King, he was never really a favourite for me, everyone knows I’m Z’s girl, however, I think we see a side of Wrath here that we were never really privy to before and I enjoyed every minute of it!

“When were you going to tell me?” He demanded. “Tell you what? That you can be a real asshole? How about right now.”

The King was jam packed with passion and moments that were in my opinion classic BDB. Whilst reading I felt like we’d returned to what makes BDB so fan-bloody-tastic and why I love J.R Ward so much, I swear I have a huge girl-crush on her and if I ever have the privilege to meet this Author, I think, no I know I’ll faint in my excitement. You feel me?
