ROOM FOR YOU (The Cranberry Inn #1) by BETH EHEMANN

Our Review
“Life is a sum made up of small parts, Kacie. Some are good; some are bad. You and the girls are definitely one of the good. The best…”
If you’re looking for something sweet and romantic with some truly heart-warming characters to while away the reading hours, then look no further than Room For You.
For starters, you’d be hard pressed to find a nicer guy than Brody Murphy. Ummm did I mention he’s also a hot professional hockey player? Yup he is and I fell head hard for this guy and my heart did a major thud when he interacted with the “twinkies”. Sigh…Brody…
Room For You tells the story of Kacie Jensen, a 24 year single mother, raising two cute as a button 5 year old twins, Lucy and Piper. The children’s father took off when they were one year old and Kacie hasn’t see hide nor hair of him since.
Kacie has had her fair share of disappointments and let downs leaving her scarred and not really living life. Instead Kacie devotes everything she has to bringing up her two delightful daughters. For Kacie, forsaking her own happiness for others has become her norm.
“…but that’s the think about scars, Kacie, over time they fade and get smaller. It’s time for yours to disappear.”
Fate steps into Kacie’s life one stormy night in the form of one very delectable Mr Brody Murphy who turns up at The Inn owned by Kacie mother and where Kacie resides with her daughters. There is an instant attraction, lots of stolen glances and it’s clear there is a special connection between them.
Brody awakens a part of Kacie she thought had laid dormant and Kacie in turn awakens something in Brody’s heart. He’s never had a lasting relationship committing himself to his sport and profession has always been his priority, until Kacie and her daughters entered his life then something changed.
“You did something to me, changed something. And now, All I want is you…just you. And the twinkies.”
Brody was such a wonderful book boyfriend. Honestly, there was nothing not to love about him. He was family orientated, loyal, giving, sexy and well….he was divine. This man had a heart of gold and his the moments with the girls really melted my heart. I defy anyone not to majorly swoon over this guy!
“Before you guys, I didn’t know life outside of the rink existed. You’ve made me realize I want more. I want everything, and I want it with you.”
I did become a little irritated now and then with Kacie’s lack of conviction in Brody. On the one hand I could understand her reluctance to open her heart and let someone in but Brody was constantly proving himself to her and I did feel sorry for him at times. Kacie guarded her heart but when she allowed her walls to come down the sparks, the passion and the emotion really flowed.
‘This man was amazing, and I….was an idiot.’
There were many beautiful moments in this story and the twins especially had my heart. I have to say though that Blaire was bone of contention for me. I’d really like to know why someone like Andy would tolerate her, let alone marry this woman because she did not possess one redeeming quality. Oh I know I was supposed to dislike her but the over exaggeration of her character traits caused me to eye roll now and then. I’m hoping book two will shed some more light on that relationship because it had me perplexed. With that aside, there was much I really liked about Room For You. It’s one of those books you can easily lose yourself in and I certainly did.
Synopsis

Four years ago, my dreams were shattered in an instant.
I tried to pick up the pieces and glue them back together the best I knew how, but something was always missing.
A father for my two girls.
But then, Brody Murphy landed on my doorstep, literally. He was a carefree, playful hockey player who barged into my life and messed with my head. He left me more confused than I had ever been.
What if the one thing I thought I needed was the only thing holding me back?
