“Thin love ain’t love at all.”

Jenny:  Once I started Thin Love, I couldn’t put it down. I was immediately drawn in and emotionally invested in Keira and Kona’s story of fierce love, passion, betrayal, deceit, secrets and second chances.

The raw passion between this couple was positively palpable. The author did a stellar job of making me feel and experience the explosive and soul deep connection between Keira and Kona as I followed them through their highs and lows. Theirs was a chaotic, somewhat toxic yet all-consuming and searing love that had me, for the most part completely and utterly engrossed.

“Who the hell wants to be normal? Normal is boring. Everyone else is normal, but baby, that’s not us.”

Keira and Kona’s love could be as volatile as it could be gentle, yet was a love so fierce, obsessive and addictive, a love that was grown from a young age, I wondered if a love such as theirs could prosper and endure.  They certainly had a battle on their hands. Not only with themselves but also from negative outside interferences and my heart went out to them.

“I don’t want easy. I want the impossible.  I want love so thick, I drown in it; it’s the only thing worth having and, I’m sorry Kona but I really don’t think you’re capable…”
“You don’t know me, Keira, and you don’t have a fucking clue what I’m capable of.”

Keira and Kona certainly held me in their grasp and I was chomping at the bit to see what had transpired during the years apart and how they had coped, what their lives had been like during those missing years and if their frantic, consuming love had survived and could possibly be rekindled.

“I deserved to be loved. I deserved for you to never stop loving me because I gave my heart to you. I put it in your hands. I trusted you with it.”

It was one crazy ride wasn’t it G?

Gitte: Wow, yes crazy ride indeed I couldn’t put this story down. What a fantastic job this Author did in drawing the reader in and immediately falling hook line and sinker for the characters and their journey.

‘To her, then, he was life. He was breath. He was the searing part of her soul that burned her from the inside.’

I wouldn’t necessarily call this a healthy and beautiful love story but it felt true, intense and powerful. It was extremely addictive and passionate. No question; a story of forever soul-mates but not in the butterfly and flowers respect.

‘That face, that name, is something unreal to her and not the boy who shredded her heart.’

I wouldn’t wish to give anything away so I’ll just say that my heart and curiosity had me cursing real life for having to put my kindle down as I was reading. The way it started was brilliant; I needed to know how Keira ended up where she did and as we learnt of her past and became embroiled in her and Kona’s relationship…wow!

“Whatever I am, it’s yours.”

I was torn on my emotions. Love/hate….it truly is a fine line! I have to say I was swept up and became completely engrossed in the ugly-beautiful love story of Keira and Kona!

“Kona, I get the feeling you might end up being my favourite mistake.”

J&G:  So, why not a 5 star?  If you’d asked us at around 70% we would have told you Thin Love was going to be just that. We were completely swept away with the angst, the love and the way the story and the characters developed and hated having to put it aside when real life interrupted our reading.

There were plotlines in the last 30% that felt unnecessary and merely served to drag out the story. Thin Love contained a lot of angst and drama and we were revelling in it up to a point and then it became a little repetitive, and there were times we felt as though we just wanted it to end. The epilogue was amazing and went a long way in making us forget the unnecessary angst and other issues at the back end of the story.

Our other issue with Thin Love was the amount of errors. We must stress that we’ve read off unedited ARC’s and if need be, we can see past errors. However, this was a purchased copy which was peppered with errors throughout which became increasingly prevalent from about the 70% mark.

It’s a crying shame this story contained so many errors – from misplaced, misspelled words, to switching past/present tense in the one paragraph, even to the point where a character name was spelt incorrectly because sadly, all this affected our reading pleasure and we were gutted this happened.

As we said, for the most part we loved this story and must stress that without the errors, the repetitiveness and unnecessary drama filling towards the end, this would have been a 5 star read, without a doubt.

“Keira hasn’t had much happy. Try to give her a little bit, okay?”

Would we recommend this book? Absolutely!!! In a heartbeat because despite our issues, this was a brilliant story. We felt the passion in the pit of our stomachs, we were emotionally invested in the characters and their story and our hearts craved their all-consuming love.
