MAYBE NOT – A NOVELLA by COLLEEN HOOVER

Our Review
“She’s the best worst thing that’s ever happened to me.”
If there’s anything we’ve learnt from a Colleen Hoover book is that there is no such thing as a secondary character. Although they may play a supporting role to the main characters, they never fail to make an impression on us and enter our hearts. So, it’s only fitting that at some point they should tell us their own story and we’re absolutely thrilled Warren was able to tell his and Bridgette’s story in Maybe Not.
“You did smile, Bridgette, and you need to own it, because it was fucking beautiful.”
We first met Warren in Maybe Someday and he made quite the impression. The loyal, funny prankster who was a perfect balance to Ridge. Who was, in some ways, his voice of reason, we know…hard to believe isn’t it! Getting to peel back the layers of Warren’s personality was enlightening to say the least as we became acquainted with him on a whole new level and what a gorgeous character he was.
Warren is so entertaining. He possesses an almost child-like quality that endears you to him immediately. He’s got a heart of gold, is as funny as all hell, yet there’s a whole new element to this guy that lies behind the prankster loving façade.
‘She’s nothing I’ve ever wanted in a girl. And absolutely everything I need.’
This isn’t simply a retelling of MS from a different perspective and nothing felt repetitive. This was a story in its own right….a story behind the story if you like, so don’t be thinking this is simply a rehash of Maybe Someday because it isn’t.
Some revelations were very unexpected and the relationship between Warren and Bridgette was steamy, emotional, funny and let us tell you, Warren definitely had us swooning a few times! As is the case with a Colleen Hoover book, there were moments of true beauty in this warm and entertaining read.
“The only difference between falling in love and being in love is that your heart already knows how you feel, but your mind is too stubborn to admit it.”
We find out the reasons why this girl is always so mean, and the misunderstanding regarding Sydney from Warren’s POV produced a few giggles.
Bridgette was quite the contradiction and didn’t she give Warren a run for his money, causing Warren to decide he quite liked mean girls because Bridgette was definitely mean to him but not to the point where you disliked her because they both gave as good as they got.
“You sure do know how to make a guy feel like shit, Bridgett.”
Bridgette’s revelations were quite heartbreaking and there was so much to this young lady. Finding out how she came to room with the boys was quite the twist! Is it any wonder she had built up such high walls? She was no easy nut to crack and Warren certainly had to work hard for her affections but oh it was fun watching him try!
“And I realized that I’m never happy. I was an unhappy child and I’m an unhappy adult and nothing in my life makes me feel the way you do.”
Emotion, steam, giggles and a couple of surprises along the way. Colleen Hoover fans will love this one. Enjoy!
“Give. Me. Your. Hand.”

Synopsis

Colleen Hoover, the New York Times bestselling author of Maybe Someday brilliantly brings to life the story of the wonderfully hilarious and charismatic Warren in a new novella, Maybe Not.
When Warren has the opportunity to live with a female roommate, he instantly agrees. It could be an exciting change.
Or maybe not.
Especially when that roommate is the cold and seemingly calculating Bridgette. Tensions run high and tempers flare as the two can hardly stand to be in the same room together. But Warren has a theory about Bridgette: anyone who can hate with that much passion should also have the capability to love with that much passion. And he wants to be the one to test this theory.
Will Bridgette find it in herself to warm her heart to Warren and finally learn to love?
Maybe.
Maybe not.
