Wow….what did we just read? Honestly? One of the most twisted surprising stories we’ve had on our kindles in quite some time. It was raw, horrific, disturbing, thrilling, sexy and brutal. It was romantic in an almost anti-romance kind of way if that’s possible.  It was mind-blowing – a head fuck if you will. An intriguing journey that delves into the minds and hearts of three soul mates who each has an abundance of dark secrets and come together for a fierce and explosive crescendo.

 ‘They are like night and day. Dark and light. Ark. Serious. Brooding, Intense. JD. Charming. Happy. Easy-going.’

This story hits you hard almost immediately, then brings you into a very dark place from which you’re desperate to see the light, maybe even see a butterfly or two, a rainbow even.  But no, and whilst reading you can’t help but think to yourself just where the hell is this all heading? What secret or clue are we missing? The writing is incredibly evocative yet hard hitting in its almost honest no-nonsense approach. The writing takes you to a place that’s so beautifully twisted, so intense – so imperfectly perfect as the case would be.

‘She is not one lost girl. We are not two best friends. We are one trinity of perfection.’

Who are Ark, JD and Blue? What were their purpose and how did the dynamics work? What were their backgrounds and how did they all come to fit together? We were asking ourselves these very questions as we were reading and slowly a simmering frustration grew because we felt like we were observing something where clues were scattered like a puzzle yet never slotted in to complete the big picture. We were unable to see the woods for the trees in other words. Then….then as events unfolded the big aaaah came and our hearts beat frantically; our pulses skyrocketed for other reasons than the incredible passionate heat factor that had been so prevalent so far. Suddenly the sharp turn this story took shifted it to something that very quickly became epic. An epic tale of three soul mates whose one life was made up of sex, lies, violence yet also the ultimate love and compassion.

‘My soul has two mates. I love them equally, and with the same amount of fierce devotion. And I’ll fight to my death to have them both.’

This story is another example of why we love JA Huss so much – of why she’s an automatic 1click. She keeps you guessing; she weaves an intricate plot then pulls the rug from beneath your feet. Three, Two, One is not pretty nor is it your typical romance which perhaps is one of the many reasons we loved it so. It was traumatic and hard to read at times; we struggled with our emotions and feelings towards Ark, Blue and JD for a variety of reasons.

‘I want to make him better. I want to save him the way he saved me.’

We tried to uncover and rationalise this story in our heads as tears ran down our cheeks. And we have to mention that there’s so much freezer time we thought we were going to internally combust whilst our kindles went up in flames. Bloody hell this Author sure knows how to write passionate filthy scenes – some of the hottest m/f/m we’ve ever read that’s for sure. It’ll make a voyeur out of the most reluctant reader and yeah….you’ll definitely want to watch this intensely erotic dark and unique romance play out….though at times with one hand slightly covering your eyes….
