Okay we just fell in love. Complete and utter beautiful book love. You know the kind of love where you just don’t want a book to finish. You try and make it last; you want the world to pause as you read and you want the story to go on and on because you’re not ready to let it go. Let the characters go. You know it has to end so your heart hurts as they embrace everything forever. This is the kind of story you know you’ll have a hard time moving on. But all great things come to an end as the saying goes but we know our hearts will always have a special place for Hearts of Fire; Jack & Lille.

Hearts of Fire was magical in every sense of the word. It was beautifully written; extremely clever with such vivid imagery and passion. It felt original and new despite the setting. It was perfection. We can’t begin to describe how much we loved this book. It was shiver inducing. This, without question, will be a favourite must read for this year.

“You’re a strange girl.”

“And you’re a strange boy.”

Lille is a brilliant heroine; the kind you aspire to. A zest for living and breaking free of the mould. The inspirational need and desire to experience and realise dreams and aspirations. She was a compassionate; level headed, passionate and adorable dreamer. She knew what she desired and wanted out of life and without hesitation she went for it and embraced it. We fell in love with her character and have to say she is one of our favourites.

“Make mistakes, Lille. Walk on the cracks. Break the rules that were made to be broken.”

Jack, be still our hearts, McCabe such a complex enigma of a character shaped by a past that damn near broke our hearts. He was mysterious and compelling; intriguing and so incredible addictive. He set our hearts on fire in many ways.  He made us cry one minute and had our pulses racing like crazy the next. His journey was intense and powerful and with the calm and loyal Lille at his side; well it became an obsessive reading experience which evoked every one of our senses.

“The things I desire most are not something I’m sure I could ask another person to give.”

Their story is without question a must read and we can’t recommend it highly enough. There were uncountable moments of brilliance and magnificent scene setting that gave us shivers. We really enjoyed the first book in this series, Six of Hearts; but Hearts of Fire just blew us away and skyrocketed our emotional anticipation for King of Hearts which we just know will break us.

“I want to consume you, steal your light and make myself a little more. You’re more, Lille. I want to be more too.”
