What happens when you fall for your best friend?

Sincerely, Carter by Whitney Gracia Williams

SYNOPSIS

Just friends.
We’re just friends.
No, really. She’s just my best friend…

Arizona Turner has been my best friend since fourth grade, even when we “hated” each other. We’ve been there for one another through first kisses, first “times,” and we’ve been each other’s constant when good relationships turned bad. (We even went to colleges that were minutes away from each other…)

Throughout the years, and despite what anyone says, we’ve never crossed the line.

Never thought about it.
Never wanted to.

Until one night changed everything.
At least, it should’ve …

Just friends.
We’re just friends.
I’m only saying this until I figure out if she’s still “just” my best friend…

Sincerely, Carter

“You’ve been there for every moment of my life and I’ve been there for yours, too.”

OH GOSH we fell HEAD OVER HEELS in love with this book! A friend to lovers’ tale is one of our favourite themes and when the story is told from childhood to adulthood…cue the heart melt! Seriously….could little Carter and Ari be any bloody cuter? We were so enamoured with these two. From their childhood conversations through to their adulthood heartbreaks, these characters and their friendship was so a.d.o.r.a.b.l.e and so utterly believable.

‘…..she was my best friend – the ultimate person I could count on no matter what.’

Carter and Arizona have known each other and have been firm friends since the fourth (or is that the fifth?) grade.  From teasing children, through dating teens, through real life decisions we followed their ups downs and shared their secrets, triumphs and failures.

“…for the record, it’s going to take me a lot longer to forget.”

Told through alternate and very distinctive pov’s, it is through flashback and dialogue between the characters that we learn of their past loves, their hopes, their aspirations and their frustrations. We experience the true soul depth of their friendship and the dynamics within their relationship and were held spellbound right the way through.

“You should accept the facts by now. I know you better than you know yourself.”

Carter, Arizona and their friends delighted us with their witty banter, exasperated us with their cluelessness at what we knew was in their hearts. There were times our hearts broke…Whitney G, you certainly put us through our paces woman and left us crestfallen a few times throughout though you made up for it by putting smiles on our faces and warmth in our hearts. And let’s not forget the those heat inducing moments!

‘I wake up hoping to have you in my arms, and there are only so many days I’m going to be able to stay sane without you….’

But all through we never lost hope of Carter and Arizona finding their way, we hoped and we dreamed that these childhood friends with the unbreakable bond would see what was in front of their faces.

“Some people come into your life for a reason, some a season, and some a lifetime.”

The only reason this wasn’t a 5 star for us was because we felt the ending was a tad rushed and appeared to end abruptly. We really would have loved a little more.  In other words ‘more afters’. Or maybe, just maybe, we just didn’t want their story to end! We hope this isn’t the last we’ll see of Carter and Arizona, hmmm maybe we’ll meet them again through a side character story??  Hey Whitney Gracia Williams, are you listening?**hint, hint**

If, like us, you’re a fan of a sexy, heartfelt, funny and emotional friends to lovers story, then GRAB THIS BOOK! Your romantic heart will thank you!
