WOW! We couldn’t put this book down. We were gripped from the very first chapter, allured by the story yet feeling as though we should be a little uncomfortable given its very dark theme. We were completely fascinated with the way this story unfolded and how it took us through a gauntlet of emotions.

“I don’t just fuck you, Jonah. I bare my soul to you. “

Imagine your deepest darkest sexual fantasies being so inappropriate, so degrading to some that you question yourself for thinking them in the first place? Imagine voicing them? Then imagine the thrill, the fear, the exhilaration, the hesitation, the possible feeling of shame you could experience if you acted them out?

‘My fantasies were one thing. Reality was another.’

Vivienne Charles has dark sexual fantasies of participating in forced sexual situations. She has a need to be overpowered in order to fulfil her sexually. Finding a man you trust enough to be a willing participant in your fantasy could be holding yourself up for ridicule or rejection, but what if it was with a stranger? A stranger who desires mirror your own? Vivienne was such a beautiful yet broken character. Her past surfaced early on in the story and it was heartbreaking. This strong, loyal woman’s vulnerability regarding her past and her dark desires evoked much emotion from us. We really felt Vivienne’s conflicted emotions.

“You know the line between dream and reality. So do I.”

Vivienne had resigned herself to the fact her fantasies would remain just that…fantasies, until a chance meeting with Jonah Marks, a Professor at the University where Vivienne works gives her the exhilarating thrill that her fantasies could quite possibly become a reality when he responds to the sexual needs Vivienne harbours. Handsome, intelligent, overpowering Jonah was a fascinating character for us. He was so guarded and had us desperately flicking through pages needing to know more about this man and his story.  Jonah delivers the dirty, degrading sex Vivienne lusts after yet there is softness to this man that stole our hearts. Beneath it all though there an undertone of darkness to Jonah we couldn’t wait to explore. Never could we have envisaged the secrets this beautiful man was hiding.

‘This is a man who could be broken, I think. But he’d be more likely to break you first.’

Trust played a huge part in this fantasy between both characters and their actions. Would they release the demons of their past and find salvation and healing, or were they igniting a fuse that would threaten to shatter them?

‘My fragility, his strength.’

We were thoroughly invested in Vivienne and Jonah’s story. The passion, the heartbreak, the tenacity of these two had us voraciously turning every page. The story of two damaged souls exploring their darker sides held us captive until the end and gasping for more! We’re excited to read the sequel because we NEED MORE!
