END OF DAY – BOOK ONE & MIDDLE OF KNIGHT BOOK TWO – THE JACK & JILL SERIES by JEWEL E. ANN

BLOODY HELL!!! These books will EASILY make our Top list this year!!! We can’t express enough how much we loved them! What a series! What characters! What writing! What emotions! This…this was effing fantastic!! It was as though Jewel E Ann had glimpsed into our book hearts, extracted everything we could want in a book and wrote it – because this had EVERYTHING we love and yet it wasn’t overdone. Quite the contrary, we didn’t miss a thing and still we wanted more and felt as though we haven’t come up for air since the turn of the first page.

We want to give this author a standing ovation for delivering something out of the box because these books OWNED us for days as we found ourselves not letting go of our Kindles in order to snatch any spare second of reading we could…..we quite literally COULD NOT PUT THESE BOOKS DOWN! Hence why, as soon as we finished End of Day we 1Clicked Middle of the Knight!

“Loving you, Luke…it might be the only thing she knows how to do.”

Hmmm let’s see, how would we describe these books? Well, they’re dark and thrilling, they’re gritty, they’re funny as all hell, the banter is off the wall witty, they’re steamy, they’re full of emotion (we cried a few times throughout), they’re romantic and definitely SWOONY, they’re brilliantly written, full of surprises which had us in a state of euphoria as we couldn’t guess at all where this story was heading. Every turn of the page was a revelation which doesn’t happen to us very often so when it does we’re positively giddy with excitement! We really could picture this book as if we were watching a movie – it was all so beautifully descriptive and vivid!

Our text messages pretty much consisted of “I fucking LOVE this book” all the way through!  Whilst the early stages of the book one had us scratching our heads in confusion, this soon made way to copious amounts of excitement, thrills, conspiracy theories, LOTS of SWOONING and a lot of guessing on our part as the author began to unveil Jude and Jessica (Jackson and Jillian’s) past and present.

It’s quite difficult to write a review about the story because really, we wouldn’t want to ruin anything for readers so we’ll mainly talk about our emotions and about how FREAKING excited we were to have found these books! Can you feel our enthusiasm??

“So are you a liar or just a real sick bitch?”
“Depends on the day.”

Every character was unique, fabulous and none felt secondary as they all added so much to the story no matter how small a part they played. Each had their own distinctive voice which guaranteed we never had to guess who was speaking ensuring the story flowed perfectly.

So, thirty two year old twin siblings Jude and Jessica Day have assumed the new identities of Jillian and Jackson Knight in order to save their lives following an incident in their past that slowly comes to light throughout  the story. They’ve been relocated to the kooky little community of Peaceful Woods which mostly consists of aged occupants who are sprightly and funny as all hell.

Sexy and unconventional Jillian and Jackson enter this community like a meteor, bringing their own brand of eccentricity with them. Let’s just say when you picture Jillian collecting her mail….you’ll never view this task as menial ever again! This girl turns collecting the mail into a seductive art form!

‘Masks were sometimes necessary. Jillian had many of them.’

Where do we begin with Jillian and Jackson? These two were bloody hysterical, fascinating and mysterious. Their banter was priceless and although they share a fiercely strong bond – love and protect one another, they’re not above dishing out some very witty insults which had us smiling from ear to ear. The sarcastic and caustic wit appealed to our sense of humours completely.

The story and relationships built at a perfect pace as we learnt through the effortless delivery of past and present switches, the life of Jill and Jack versus the life of Jessica and Jude and their story, their characters, their lives, their losses, their sacrifices were so addictively intriguing, heartbreaking and so completely engrossing!

“But that’s not where the story begins….I was Jessica then…Jessica Day.”

The cool and sexy computer nerd and former player Jackson, who decides to reinvent his philandering way, and who has a penchant for the slightly older ladies wooed us with his unorthodox ways and his ability to speak his mind. Nothing is off limits to Jackson! This guy is the epitome of HOT!

Jillian….where to start with Jillian. Jillian/Jessica has got to be one of our all-time favourite heroines. This sassy, sensual, off the wall, funny and snarky woman was such a contradiction and always kept us on our toes. With her addiction to stationary supplies giving us a good laugh, she could be as hard as nails one minute and soft as butter the next. What this girl had been through and the strength she showed was powerful. She could be as hard as she could be vulnerable. We adored her.

“What if….?
“Shh.” he kissed her just below her ear then whispered, “No what-ifs. I’ve got this, I’ve got you…I’ll always have you.”

Luke Jones…..OH DEAR GOD! Luke Jones puts the SWOOOO in SWOON! This intelligent, somewhat nerdy, completely sexy, romantic man with a taste for argyle socks…..stole…and we mean…stole our hearts. His sense of humour was drier than the Sahara and we could picture him delivering his wit with a complete dead pan face. This guy!!!! It’s been a while since a hero has had this sort of effect on us and when you meet Dr. Jones, you’ll see why. He was passionate, sweet, commanding and when he loved…oh boy, he loved and we melted! The chemistry between Jessica and Luke was dyyyynamite! We’re still fanning ourselves after some of their scenes!

Then there’s AJ, the sexy, grumpy war hero neighbour who seems to be devoid of a sense of humour was such a conflicting character.  The more we dug beneath his grouchy, walled exterior the more we fell in love with him. Beneath the grouchy exterior beat the heart of a beautiful man. Oh AJ, you had us in tears so many times. We fell in love with this hero!

‘She hated Luke for making her love him. She hated Jackson for making her live. She hated AJ for making her care.’

And finally Ryn, a 40 years old single mother who cleans for AJ and whose path crosses with the Knights. Ryn is rediscovering her sexuality after years of living with a man who sought to beat her confidence down any way he could. Her story was tragic yet inspiring too and she too, captured our hearts.

“Fuck forty.”
“I think you just did.”

The main players in the story Jill/Jessica, Jude/Jackson, Luke, AJ and Ryn had us hanging on their every word. Where does each character fit into the story? Oh we’re not going to tell you that! You have to find out for yourselves because that’s the fun of reading right? But what we will tell you that it’s not a love triangle. We will also tell you we met a distinctive cast of characters who we bloody loved! We enjoyed a story that had us on the edge of our seat. We experienced romance that made our hearts explode, we felt passion that had us fanning our Kindles, we encountered mystery that kept us on our toes, we fell for characters who would have us smiling and laughing one minute, confused and scratching our heads the next and even sobbing our hearts out a few times! And to top it all off, we were treated to superb writing that kept us enthralled. In short WE LOVED THESE BOOKS!! If you’re after something different then go 1click immeidately!

The author advises this series is complex and interconnected and due to the dual plot lines every detail matters and that skimming this book isn’t advised and we couldn’t agree more! This is not your run of the mill simple love story and the hero and heroine are not all smiles and rainbows and that’s exactly why we loved it so much!  It. Was. Different! It. Was. Entertaining! It. Was. Addictive! It was bloody fantastic! It made us feel so many emotions!

So leave your thoughts at the door and jump into this one with no preconceived ideas. We did and we are in book heaven. The only downside of this book? The flippin’ HUGE book hangover which is going to be a bitch to get over! Still…it was worth it to experience such fabulous books!
