Our Review
Well wow – we’re in food porn heaven! What a vivid, sweet and funny romance this was with a dash of steam thrown in. Alice Clayton has a way of making you swoon and laugh in equal measure and this is a true Clayton trademark. We kind of wish this had been a Scratch ‘n Sniff book and not just because of Leo’s nuts….boom! It was erotica for food lovers aplenty.

Oh boy….
Roxie, our heroine is the mistress of the kitchen as a Private Chef. This woman had us salivating over her creations and wishing we could cook or book a ticket to Bailey Falls. Food erotica – is there such a thing? Hell yeah, Alice Clayton made it so! We were so bloody hungry all the way through and had to raid our fridges several times whilst reading.
So, Roxie made her escape to California, away from her hippy Mum and the unavoidable trap of one day ending up taking over the Diner passed through generations. Things end up a bit dicey for our Roxie, so a favour asked by her Mum sees Roxie back in the country living at home and looking after the Diner where she’s gagging to change the menu and put her stamp on things. Roxie was a sweetheart with a fab sense of humour, she really was a country girl at heart and whilst desperate to leave at 18 – coming back after years in California – opened her eyes to the real beauty in life.
‘…when my eyes met his, I felt a powerful urge to ravish. ….And the funny thing is, I felt like he was thinking the same thing.’
Enter, Leo Maxwell and his nuts. Phwoarrrr – we fell in complete love with Farmer boy!! This guy was down to earth despite his family background and we loved his way of life and what he stood for. He too had a great sense of humour as well as that added bonus of being hard working man with a heart of gold.
‘I realized I was in deep trouble. Because this guy was incredible. Because this guy was real and sweet and kind.’
You know those light-hearted stories that have you reading with a perma-grin and a sporadically racing pulse? Well Nuts is just that. It was just so bloody romantic and funny with no unnecessary angst or drama. It just was – and we loved that! Brilliant characters that feel so very real and a storyline that just hit the right spot! It was exactly what we needed! You always know what you’re going to get from Alice Clayton and that is not a bad thing at all!
Now…who the heck do we need to speak to in order to get some of them pies?
We can’t wait for the dark and mysterious Oscar’s story…him and Natalie promise to bring a load of sex and creamy cheese to the table when Cream – Book Two releases next year.

Synopsis

From New York Times bestselling author Alice Clayton, the first in a brand-new romance series telling the humorously sexy tale of Roxie, a private chef who gets a taste of love—but is it to stay, or to go?
After losing almost all of her clients in one fell swoop following an accident involving whipped cream, private chef to Hollywood’s elite Roxie Callahan gets a call from her flighty mother, saying she’s needed home in upstate New York to run the family diner. Once she’s back in the Hudson Valley, local organic farmer Leo delivers Roxie a lovely bunch of walnuts, and soon sparks—and clothing—begin to fly. Leo believes that everything worth doing is worth doing slowly…and how! But will Roxie stay upstate, or will the lure of West Coast redemption tempt her back to Tinseltown?
