Our Review

“There isn’t a woman in the world who doesn’t have demons of some sort. No matter who I end up with, it’s always going to be a struggle…..Levee, I’d like to struggle with you.”

Oh Aly Martinez, we fell up, down and sideways in love with your story. It was so wonderfully written and laden with sweet, sexy, emotional and real moments and thankfully not so heavy on the angst which was exactly what we were in the mood for. Oh be still our book beating hearts!

“I’ll deal with the entire fucking world for you.”

Aly Martinez …….two words…Sam Rivers!!! THANK YOU for sharing this man with us all! Helllooo new book boyfriend! This chain smoking, witty, tattooed, sweet and sexy man who wears his heart on his sleeve would melt our hearts one minute and our knickers the next! He was such a contradiction and the perfect mix of sexy alpha who displayed a vulnerability that melted our hearts.  Oh and when this guy came over all commanding and unleashed his dirty sex talk…..well, we couldn’t help but fall head over heels! Thisguy claims to not be a romantic….well we couldn’t disagree more! This guy puts the ‘ro’ in romance! Swoooooon!

‘She was just a sad girl who liked to write songs. And I was nothing more than a simple guy who was lucky enough to have made her fall in love with him.’

Levee Williams is a pop princess with the world at her feet. She’s talented, wealthy and loved by many but whilst her professional career is on a high, her personal life is freefalling. Levee has lost her way in some regards becoming a shadow of the carefree person she used to be. Levee puts unreasonable demands on herself, is running from her past and feels the pressure of trying to maintain the expectations placed on her.

“Sam, you have no idea what you’re getting into.”
“No one ever does. It’s the beauty of taking risks.”

Levee and Sam were both weighted down by sadness and tragedy from their pasts their reasons for being on that San Francisco bridge that night felt real!  They weren’t written for shock, in fact the feelings they experienced will resonate with a lot of people. Aly Martinez handled it all sensitively and with an injection of humour and witty banter that ensured the story never became too angsty, depressing or bogged down. Just the opposite! Considering the heavy topics, we read The Fall up mostly with big smiles on our faces, lots of giggles and a warm feeling in our hearts!

“I’m going to need you to try really hard to keep it together, Levee. You haven’t seen my six-pack and huge cock, yet.” He smirked.
“You brought beer and chicken?” I feigned excitement.

Levee and Sam’s feelings did move along at a rapid pace and normally this would irritate us, but in this case it didn’t.  We felt the circumstances in which Levee and Sam had already established an intense, strong bond between them which was bound to intensity and flourish at their own pace.

“Don’t let go. No matter what, okay?”
“Never.”

The Fall Up spoke to the romantics in us, it had us welling up and falling in love with two beautiful, troubled yet upbeat characters and delivered everything it promised and…that cover!! The cover artist did a magnificent job of depicting the story beautifully with her incredible talent.

‘It was raining. Isn’t that the way all great love stories start….and also usually end?’

Synopsis

I wanted to jump.
He made me fall.

As a celebrity, I lived in the public eye, but somewhere along the way, I’d lost myself in the spotlight.

Until he found me.

Sam Rivers was a gorgeous, tattooed stranger who saved my life with nothing more than a simple conversation.

But we were both standing on that bridge for a reason the night we met. The secrets of our pasts brought us together—and then tore us apart.

Could we find a reason to hold on as life constantly pulled us down?

Or maybe there’s only one direction to go when two people fall in love at rock bottom—up.
