“Seek the truth and you will find justice.”

Well, we’re actually not sure what to say other than this is one of the more upsetting and topical books we’ve read in a while. It literally was just so bloody sad and disturbing; encompassing what is still so inherently wrong in the real world today coupled with the increase in disturbing bragging rights videos we see on social media depicting other people’s misery as a trophy.

“You live what you learn.”

Unlawful Justice was quite a mixed bag of emotions for us. Whilst reading we questioned our feelings on the combination of the hard hitting poignant issues and the inclusion of, for want of a better word, soft erotica. In our reading opinions, we don’t think the latter had any part to play in such an emotive led story considering the actual devastating and tragic crux of Unlawful Justice which ultimately led the story of Liv, Grayson and Harmony Falls. The inclusion felt wrong on so many levels to us and quite unbelievable considering the psychological trauma and disturbing circumstances over what is really a very short period of time. It was unnecessary, in our opinion.

“You’re healing me in ways I never thought possible.”

For us the support, healing, loyalty and beautiful romance between Liv and Grayson would have had a much stronger impact, because that – we truly felt. Instead we felt uncomfortable; it was as if everything became somewhat cheapened and we had to skim those parts which felt like a crime in itself whilst reading a very brave and heartfelt- well written – book by K.C Lynn & K. Langston. This is such a shame as these Authors had such a powerful story to tell, which they sure did, and their characters went on one hell of a journey for love, justice and community spirit and equality.

“Hate isn’t something you’re born with, it’s taught.”

Overall Unlawful Justice is a realistic look at the appalling and trauma inducing issues which face our society today whilst offering hope, inspiration and courage. Without question this is a story that is relevant and should be read, we just couldn’t appreciate the full journey due to the before mentioned issue, the epilogue was beautiful.
