WOW!  What a debut from B.A. Paris!!! Talk about expect the unexpected! We couldn’t put down this gripping Psychological thriller, we were on edge throughout and felt the ominous undertone from the very first page.

On reading the synopsis we thought we knew what to mostly expect from this book, and in some small part we were bang on, but there was no way we could have predicted what truly lay between the pages and behind the doors of the Angels’ perfect façade. B.A. Paris had us gasping with shock and suspense throughout her book!

We had expected to open the doors of Jack and Grace Angel’s house to taunts of domestic abuse and a marriage in crisis. What we experienced was a menacing and disturbing look into the mind of a psychopath in a gripping, nail biting and chilling story that had us hanging onto our Kindles for dear life.

We were left gobsmacked and could never have guessed the depth of evil that would be uncovered nor what a twisted individual Jack was. On the outside Jack Angel is the perfect man. He has a loving wife, is blessed with movie star good looks and money, is a respected lawyer championing women of domestic abuse and appears kind and devoted to Grace, his wife.  As in nature, sometimes the most beautiful of things can be the deadliest and that was the case with Jack. His backstory sent chills down our spine

Grace (Harrington) Angel, appears to be the epitome of the woman who has it all. She is blessed with poise, charm and the love of the ‘perfect’ husband. Or is she? Grace had been unlucky in love due to the loyalty, love and dedication she has for her sister, Millie. They have an unbreakable bond and there have not been a lot of men who are willing to take Grace and Millie as a package deal until the ‘kind and sweet’ Jack Angel enters their life and sweeps Grace off her feet.  Grace jumps at her chance for happiness with Jack, but little does Grace know the shocking truth of the man she has married, of the sinister and despicable persona that lays beneath the veil of perfection and respectability Jack Angel portrays to the world

Behind Closed Doors is told in a past to present switch which only served to intensify the suspense throughout the book. B.A. Paris delivered a story that, although set at a steady pace felt as though we had run a marathon by the time we reached the end. With shoulders and stomachs tensed from the anticipation of what was to come, we felt we couldn’t relax or rest on our laurels until we hit the very last page.

The ending was brilliant, with one single sentence that was so simple in its delivery yet so significantly powerful in its meaning that it took our breath away.   A brilliant page turner from beginning to end!
