Chelsea sits beside me on the couch, facing me, her legs tucked, her pretty feet curled under her. Yes—Chelsea has pretty feet, okay? I never knew feet could be pretty—until I saw hers.
“So . . . that talk I mentioned before? We should probably have that now, while we can.”
I take a sip of my drink and nod. “Yeah—I wasn’t at all hoping you’d forget about it or anything.”
Her face slides into a grin. “Funny.”
I look back at her, straight-faced. “I’m a funny guy.”
When she doesn’t say anything for a few moments, I ask, “What’s up?”
Because now I’m actually getting concerned. My stomach tightens as I brace for whatever’s worrying her—and before I even know what I’m up against, in my head I’m already planning all the ways I’ll take care of it. Because that’s what I do—and I’m good at it.
But what she tells me next blows my fucking mind.
“I’m late.”
Two words—ten thousand thoughts exploding in my head at once.
I’m a big guy, six-five, 225 pounds of muscle. Guys like me, our voices don’t squeak. But at this moment, mine comes damn close.
“Like . . . for an appointment?”
Chelsea inhales deeply, then breathes out, “No.”
Our Review

Because she’s more than my wife – more than the owner of the pussy that has me so very whipped. The only reason I really believe in my own goodness is because I see it reflected in her eyes.’
All hail the queen of the male POV! We love, love, LOVED this book – it was perfect in every way and Emma Chase, you sure do have a way with words that ensures they insinuate their way into our hearts with your unique brand of humour, sweetness, passion and romance. We were ecstatic to spend more time with these guys as they once again endeared themselves to us in every possible way.
Chelsea and Jake have had to learn to manoeuvre themselves around six children, allowing time for romance and passion – time to be just Jake and Chelsea, a couple in love, whist dealing with the demands these six adorable children place on them, and Jake and Chelsea wouldn’t have it any other way. They’re a close knit family and amidst the chaos there is much so much love, so much fun and we can’t help but become swept up in every little minute we spend with them all. Our hearts were positively bursting. The love of a man for his children, his complete soul deep love and adoration for his wife and love between friends and siblings…aaahhhhh we loved and devoured it all. We couldn’t get enough!
The children’s unique personalities shone through in every aspect of this book and the moments between the children and Jake completely stole our hearts. There was on one scene in particular that was delivered in such a heartfelt and beautiful way, it reduced us to tears.
‘Kids are incredible – their insight, their capacity to adapt and accept, grown and love. They’re powerful, too. We’d all be in some seriously deep shit if they ever realized just how much power they have over us. Because the warm, tingling, insanely proud, totally devoted feeling that spreads through me – it’s indescribable. And Raymond did that. He gave me that. ‘
This Novella is a MUST READ addition to the series and not to be missed and whilst each book has given us an epilogue that had us dissolving into tears, Jake’s epilogue in Sidebarred was something else. It left us sobbing as we were afforded a glimpse into the future of the children…bringing us closure to people who have become so dear to us, as if we caught up with old friends.

And tell us he does, giving us delightfully wonderful insights into how they all fared, thus ending this series on a beautiful and unforgettable high. Every book in this series has been a winner and every character has charmed their way into our hearts. We’ll miss these guys but we’re grateful to have had the chance to meet them all and live each of their stories. Bravo, Emma Chase, this novella was the icing a very sweet, delicious and memorable cake! We bloody loved it!
I pour a cup of black coffee at the counter, turn around, and almost rip over tiny Regan, standing next to me with a hairbrush and elastic tie in her hand. “Can you do my braid, Daddy?” She smiles, her top two teeth adorably missing…..

Chelsea’s voice is low, so the kids can’t hear. “There will never be anything sexier than watching you – with your muscles and tattoos – braiding a six year old’s hair”
“My braids are awesome.””

Great review! I absolutely adored this novella and the whole series as well. It’s so sad to see it end but this was such a great way to send it off. (*sob*) And I have to agree about the ‘queen of the male POV’!! I’ve been hooked on Emma’s writing style since Tangled–from Drew’s hilarious POV. Can’t wait to see what she gives us next!
