Our Review

‘This man would be the death of me. There was nothing he had that I didn’t want more of.’

You know what Bittersweet was? It was one of those lovely romances that just leaves you with a satisfied smile on your face throughout. It was a simple love story set in the beautiful country side. It was sexy and hot with a heavy dash of food porn. Apples and pears – pies and puddings. We had constant cravings and may have drooled a little, okay, a lot. We were in Vermont on a farm and we bloody loved every minute of it sat on the porch drinking our fruit cider.

“Just taking Audrey for a hike before lunch. Because I like her a lot. Even when she’s talking.”

We fell in love with every single character and the part they played- it felt so homely and friendly we are considering moving there. We’re so invested in the characters we can’t wait for their respective stories. This Author sure knows her stuff about a day in the farming life as we clearly saw, felt and smelt every scene as every moment felt so real. It was sweet and pure with low angst and real life issues. Our only gripe was the end which seemed abrupt and in our opinion was missing something after the personal journey we went through with Griff and Audrey individually and together. We wanted more, but then we’re greedy like that! Also, we have to mention that the cover does the story no justice at all and seems at odds with this beautiful romance!

‘Griff was tied to his farm and cows. I was going to build a foodie empire in Boston any minute now. It was a relationship with no future. Correction- it was a …sex fest with no future.’

Griff and Audrey share a brief moment from the past so when their paths collide again years later, that recognition and memory is an intense reaction. They openly dislike each other but then, do they really? Shagging frenemies….is there anything more exciting? A close contender would be Audrey’s cooking and the stolen moments where all fighting is forgotten for frantic and heated- well you know!

‘I wanted everything. There was nobody else who got under my skin like she had. To think of her as mine seemed like an impossible luxury.’

Bittersweet was delicious; with a dash of fun, spoonful’s of sweet with heaped cups of passion and heat. A perfect recipe for a beautiful love story between a sassy, independent and adorable heroine and a fiery, hardworking and innovative bearded hottie farmer. Yum!!

Synopsis

If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the orchard.

The last person Griffin Shipley expects to find stuck in a ditch on his Vermont country road is his ex-hookup. Five years ago they’d shared a couple of steamy nights together. But that was a lifetime ago.

At twenty-seven, Griff is now the accidental patriarch of his family farm. Even his enormous shoulders feel the strain of supporting his mother, three siblings and a dotty grandfather. He doesn’t have time for the sorority girl who’s shown up expecting to buy his harvest at half price.

Vermont was never in Audrey Kidder’s travel plans. Neither was Griff Shipley. But she needs a second chance with the restaurant conglomerate employing her. Okay—a fifth chance. And no self-righteous lumbersexual farmer will stand in her way.

They’re adversaries. They want entirely different things from life. Too bad their sexual chemistry is as hot as Audrey’s top secret enchilada sauce, and then some.
