MOONSHOT by ALESSANDRA TORRE

Our Review
‘Together we would only bring chaos.’
We finished Moonshot in one sitting. How could we not?! This story was absolutely everything we love and more. It had romance, passion, angst, suspense and drama all wrapped up in the world of baseball. Namely the New York Yankees.
‘This team was my family, my soul. And I think that was what made everything that happened so damn complicated.’
Oh how we loved this story, we were overcome with emotions spanning every spectrum falling deeper and deeper until all we saw was Ty and Chase and a love which was as intense as a burning flame that will not be extinguished. It was fated to not survive from the start but it demanded to be felt and live on- in two hearts that beat for each other with such strength and passion. So many factors tried to extinguish a love so bright; age difference, family and highly emotive circumstances beyond control. We were on tenterhooks the whole way through as an eerie atmosphere played a solemn beat in the background of a true love story.
‘First loves were supposed to be flimsy and temperamental. They were supposed to burn bright and fade fast. They weren’t supposed to stick. They weren’t supposed to eat away at a man’s heart, his capacity for life.’
Alessandra Torre has a very unique writing style, one that only emphasised the tone of this story. Short, sharp and straight to the point she demanded our attention and invited our heart and soul to become entwined in the lives of her characters. And so they did.
‘Our kiss had energy, it was a battle- one fought with gentle teases, exploratory touches, and passion- need pulling me forward even as I tried my best to push him away.’
We felt every word, we came to be caught up in the bright lights, the sounds and smells of the ball game. We experienced the intense rush- the highs and the lows. Ultimately, we experienced the heartbreak, the devastation and the bone crushing pain of everything spiralling out of control leaving you wrought and battered and spit out on the floor wondering how will this ever get any better and how and where did everything go so wrong?
‘Men had been killed over kisses like that. Careers had been lost. Hearts had been stolen. He needed to stay away from her. Focus on his game and forget everything else.’
We felt like we grew with Ty as the story progressed. From a teenager to a grown woman who found love so early, only to herself help the hand of circumstance in turning her life upside down. And Chase; an arrogant man five years older who wreaks havoc wherever he goes yet masks a loving gentle soul that loves, perhaps too much. This man demanded attention, an incredibly powerful presence that overshadowed everything yet craved to be seen and loved.
‘She was laughing, her head back, smile big, her blonde hair fanning out as she lifted her hands and turned. It might have been the most beautiful thing he had ever seen.’
Moonshot was a flawless, unique and exhilarating second chance romance that embraces the passionate and sexy whilst never straying from the ball game. We highly recommend snapping this story up as soon as you can. You will not be disappointed!
“Look to the moon when you swing,” he instructed. “That’s what you want. A ball that disappears into it. One that goes to the moon and past. A moonshot.”
Synopsis

Baseball isn’t supposed to be a game of life and death…
The summer that Chase Stern entered my life, I was seventeen. The daughter of a legend, the Yankees were my family, their stadium my home, their dugout my workplace. My focus was on the game.
Chase… he started out as a distraction. A distraction with sex appeal poured into every inch of his six foot frame. A distraction who played like a god and partied like a devil.
I tried to stay away. I couldn’t.
Then, the team started losing.
Women started dying.
And everything in my world broke apart
