Standalone – Sports themed romance
SYNOPSIS
Being the only woman working for a professional baseball team isn’t easy. As the San Diego Shock’s newest athletic trainer, Allie knows all about long hours, endless travel, and warding off players’ advances. Given she’s already the subject of a handful of rumors about how “lucky” she was to have earned such a coveted position, she can’t so much as flutter an eyelash a player’s way if she wants to be taken seriously.
But number eleven is doing more than fluttering eyelashes Allie’s way. Far more. Luke Archer is at the top of his game and doesn’t let the fear of striking out keep him from swinging. This is a motto he applies both on and off the field, but Allie appears immune, seeming to view Luke as nothing more than caution tape on legs.
He’s a player, and in Allie’s experience, they’re all the same. She won’t risk her job or her heart to another one, no matter how different this one claims to be. But as Allie gets to know him, she discovers the number eleven the public thinks they know is very different from the real Luke Archer. He seems too good to be true.
And maybe he is.
Allie will have to confront the stories attached to a player of Luke Archer’s stature and decide who she’ll put her faith in—The man she’s falling for? Or the rumors?

‘Luke Archer kissed like he played baseball – intently, skilfully, and like he’d spent his whole life practicing for this one moment in time.’
Stealing Home just stole our hearts! This book was all we love in a sports romance: sweet, sexy, sweet, very swoony, dramatic, romantic and hot! We couldn’t think of a better way to spend a lazy Saturday afternoon than being swept up in this book…yep, it was exactly what the book doctor ordered!
‘I watched Archer. I examined the way he held himself, the way he moved his body. Every movement was intentional. The way he commanded his body on the baseball field led me to imagine how he could control it in bed. It was impossible to conclude he’d be a sloppy, flailing lover who couldn’t please his lover if the end of a revolver was drilled into his temple.’
Oh dear lord, pass the fan because Luke Archer, prized top player for The Storm, was all that and more! What a book boyfriend he was! A gifted athlete, a generous friend, a loyal, loving and wonderful brother to his three younger sisters. This guy hadn’t had it easy, but he had fought for his family and as much as he loved the game, he loved that it gave him the opportunity to provide for his family together. What a catch he was!
Alley, an athletic trainer for the Storm, had caught the eye of Luke and things move up a notch when he invites her to accompany him on a Sports Anonymous photo shoot. That’s when the sparks really start to fly between the two. At one point he invites Alley to join in the shoot and holy hot baseballs the chemistry between them is ridiculously off the charts!
“Shit, Doc. If I’d have known you were into the kinky stuff, I would have found some way to get you in my arms with nothing but my jersey on sooner.”
‘Because you knew I existed before last night, right?”
“I’ve known you’ve existed from the first day you waked out onto the diamond at spring practice.”
Alley had fought long and hard to earn the respect of the men in the locker room, her reputation was of credibility in her profession, so when Luke propositions her, she feels torn between wanting this man and wanting to retain her reputation as a hard worker, not for who she sleeps with.
‘Was a few weeks or months of wild abandon with Archer worth the risk of losing all my credibility?’
Alley had prejudged Luke as a womanising pro athlete moving from one conquest to another, believing the rumours – little could she have realised the soulful, beautiful, compassionate, caring and loving man with a heart bigger than his batting averages, that lay behind the rumours..
“You know my opinion on rumors? That they’re started by haters. Spread by fools. And accepted by idiots”
Being a pro Baseballer doesn’t leave a lot of time for relationships. The grueling hours, the time on the road, the constant intrusion into your life would make it hard for someone outside of that environment to understand and accept the demands put on the athlete, but Alley being part of that work understands those demands only too well, she lives and breathes baseball as much as Luke does, can their relationship move on from the passion that ignites between them? Can their past trust issues allow their hearts to become involved?
‘Whatever this was, wherever it took me, I wasn’t going to hold back. I was all in, to whatever end we found ourselves in. Feeling that was staggering. Accepting it was freeing. But living it was redefining.’
Stealing Home delivered a fabulous afternoon reading in one of our favourite sub genres. We loved it and whilst we did feel Alley treated Luke a little harshly at times which grated on us, there is no doubt we believed in these two and were completely swept away with their romance and passion.

I have been excitedly anticipating the release of It Ends With Us. I know Colleen Hoover’s newest gem is going to leave me with a major book hangover. I will not be able to pick up another book for days and her characters are going to stick with me for a long time. Try as I might, I know my biggest issue will be pacing myself and not reading the entire book in one sitting.
I have been in contact with my local library and have been advocating for them to put all of Colleen’s books into their circulation. I know I will not be able to wait until they finally get It Ends With Us into circulation. Hurry up, August, I want to get my hands on that book!
