ROYALLY SCREWED (Royally #1) by EMMA CHASE :: REVIEW
18 October, 2016

Our Review
‘I was known before I was born and my name will be blazoned in history long after I’m dust in the ground. Infamy is temporary, celebrity is fleeting, but royalty…royalty is forever.’
Being hopeless romantics with an absolute love of fairy tales where the ‘common’ girl steals the heart of the handsome prince, and swooning crazily over the blossoming real life fairy-tale of Prince William and Kate, and Crown Prince Frederik and Mary, this book was made for us because Royally Screwed delivered everything our giddy romantic hearts could desire and delivered it splendidly!
“Are you trying to be cute?”
“No. I don’t have to try…it just sort of happens.”
The fact it’s written by Emma Chase was the humongous cherry on the cake! We adore everything this author writes. She has the emotional depth which contrasts perfectly with the wit and humour she dishes out courtesy of her male POV, of which she is a standout at conveying. Her male characters are vulnerable yet cocky, conceited yet doubting, strong, sexy yet sweet and so, so incredibly swoon worthy!
“When he shines on you, the whole world is shining.”
Royally Screwed brought together our girlhood fantasies in a sexy, funny, emotional and sweet adult manner when the deliciously gaaawjuss, hot, dirty talking Nicholas Arthur Frederick Edward Pembrook, Crowned Prince of Wessco, aka His Royal Hotness meets the sweet, reserved yet feisty Olivia Hammond when on a trip to New York. After making a right tit of himself on their first meeting, he soon redeems himself in Liv’s eyes and is immediately enamoured by not only her physical appearance, but her easy going nature, her tenacity and her honesty. And the feeling is mutual. Nicholas is scrumptious!
“Don’t get attached to my brother. He doesn’t belong to you. He doesn’t even belong to himself.”
After spending time together in New York, Nicholas invites her back to Wessco to stay in the Palace for the summer. A relationship between a ‘commoner‘ and a Prince is forbidden in Wessco, so they agree to have some fun, enjoy each other’s company then part ways because Nicholas only has five months to get his arse into gear and find a suitable wife. Nicholas isn’t happy…he always wanted to marry for love, just like his parents did, but Granny isn’t having it. She wants him married, and nothing diverts the country from its woes like the fanfare of a Royal Wedding! Don’t get us started on Nick and Granny!
‘There’s a species of monkey indigenous to the Columbian rain forest that’s one of the most adorable-looking animals you’ll ever see – its cuteness put fuzzy hamsters and small dogs on Pinterest to shame. Except for its hidden razor-sharp teeth and aits appetite for human eyeballs. Those lured in by the beast’s precious appearance are doomed to lose theirs.
My grandmother is a lot like those vicious little monkey’s.’ – Nicholas
Whilst they may be poles apart materially, they are equal emotionally and physically and so the heart has different ideas on what it wants! What starts off as some hot, sexy short term funs soon becomes anything but when the reality of Liv having to leave and Nicholas having to choose a wife sinks in.
‘I smile and I know it’s radiant. Because that’s how I feel. Right now—in his arms. Lit from the inside, like a luminous shooting star that won’t ever dim’
What follows is the stuff fairy tales are made of and we devoured every beautiful, sweet and funny moment! A life under scrutiny, a country depending on its Sovereign, a man bound by duty and honour, a man whose heart is bursting with love for Olivia, but can love prevail?
You’ll have to read, enjoy and fall in love yourselves to find out! There were so many heart-warming, romantic moments in this book, we couldn’t get enough! And the giggle inducing moments courtesy of Nicholas had us in hysterics, so it’s only fitting we leave you with a glimpse of Nicholas’s acerbic wit when describing his friend, Simons wife, Franny and you’ll see why this book left our hearts bursting and a smile from ear to ear! And…WE ARE BLOODY DYING FOR HENRY’S BOOK! That’s going to be a beauty, we can tell!
‘Franny doesn’t like me and the feeling is entirely mutual. She’s breathtaking – I’ll give her that; dark hair and eyes, the face of an angel, skin like a porcelain dolls.
The kind whose head will spin around on its neck, right before it drags you under the bed to strangle you.’ – Nicholas
Synopsis

Nicholas Arthur Frederick Edward Pembrook, Crowned Prince of Wessco, aka His Royal Hotness, is wickedly charming, devastatingly handsome, and unabashedly arrogant; hard not to be when people are constantly bowing down to you.
Then, one snowy night in Manhattan, the prince meets a dark haired beauty who doesn’t bow down. Instead, she throws a pie in his face.
Nicholas wants to find out if she tastes as good as her pie, and this heir apparent is used to getting what he wants.
Dating a prince isn’t what waitress Olivia Hammond ever imagined it would be.
There’s a disapproving queen, a wildly inappropriate spare heir, relentless paparazzi, and brutal public scrutiny. While they’ve traded in horse drawn carriages for Rolls Royces, and haven’t chopped anyone’s head off lately, the royals are far from accepting of this commoner.
But to Olivia, Nicholas is worth it.
Nicholas grew up with the whole world watching, and now Marriage Watch is in full force. In the end, Nicholas has to decide who he is and, more importantly, who he wants to be: a King… or the man who gets to love Olivia forever.
