‘I refuse to be a one-time fling. I want the fairy-tale ending.’

We absolutely loved Saving Evangeline; book one in this series so we eagerly jumped into Tempting Jo. Despite this series having interconnected characters they can both be read as standalones.

Once again Nancee Cain injected her own brand of humour into this otherworldly romantic story of forbidden love and we chuckled at the shenanigans as they played out. There were many quirky moments as well as proper sweet gushing romance.

Whilst we enjoyed this fun romantic read we sadly didn’t love it as we did Saving Evangeline. In some respects we think it’s because we just didn’t connect with Rafe and Jo as individuals as well as a couple. We would have loved to have been privy to some of the childhood memories and experienced some of their shared moments to feel the poignancy. In our opinion this story could have been absolutely fabulous if we’d been allowed to experience the before rather than be told there was a connection there afterwards. It felt like the story was skimmed upon rather than fleshed out.

We have to say we that whilst this was Rafe and Jo’s book we were more in love with Luc and Magda and their parts in this story- they had us laughing and swooning respectively. We’re kind of crossing our fingers here…wink wink….nudge nudge….

“You are my world, my heaven, my stars, and my sun. You’re mine. Always and forever.”

The premise of Tempting Jo was lovely; the writing was fabulously light and engaging. It was about realising your own heart and who you are, sacrifice and ultimately love and protection. Standing up for what you believe and who you believe in. The latter part of this story was by far our favourite and the epilogue was perfection. We were left with a satisfied smile on our faces in the end after a lovely light-hearted read.
