Our Review

‘I was too cold. Too hungry. Too tired. I couldn’t afford to get off this line, no matter how much I wanted to.’

Don’t you just love when you start a book and you’ve never read anything by this Author before nor have you got any idea where the story is going to take you?  A book that takes you so completely by surprise you actually have to stop and think why did I not read this sooner and how fast can I go find everything out about this new to us Author. Well, this was us when we read The Line by Amie Knight. This story was not what we expected, it was so much more. The synopsis grabbed us but the characters even more so and their story stole our hearts. We love our cowboys but what we love even more is a beautiful love story just like this. Sometimes the best stories are the ones you least expect.

‘It had only been four years, but it could have been an eternity and I’d never forget my cowboy.’

What you put out into the world comes right back; no more so than kindness, respect love and compassion. Do you believe in soul mates? We do, and from page one we knew that this was a romance with two people who without question were fated to be together no matter the obstacles and tragedies separating them.

‘His voice. His stories. They were like listening to the deep timbre base of my favourite song. And I didn’t want to miss a beat.’

Our emotions were all over the place as we learnt of Everly’s story and how she came to be where we met her, we felt overwhelmed with sadness yet inspired by her big heart, her strength and the love she had when she recognised kindness and compassion from an unlikely source. She was a brilliantly written heroine that showed real resilience and gratitude despite the little she’d been given in life.

“You’re so terrified you’re gonna lose them that you’ve already thrown them away, and that’s no way to live, Little Bird.”

Cole is one of the most gorgeous cowboys we’ve ever encountered. He’s all man yet he has a vulnerability and a strong sense of empathy that shines through the male ruggedness. A man with passion and heart he sees something in Everly that compels him to look out for her, despite unanswered questions and his reluctance to give up his heart. Until he does give his heart and it is quite simply stunning. There came a point in the story where he wore his heart on his sleeve and we read with tears in our eyes at the beauty of the words. He’s been through a betrayal that crushed his heart so it really would take something incredibly special to put the pieces back in their rightful place.

‘Everly was fireflies and freedom. I couldn’t resist her.’ ‘Everly was the sun. Her light shining on me. Her heat searing through me. Forcing me to wake the fuck up. To live again. And, God, I wanted her sun. It felt so good to stand in it. I couldn’t resist her I never stood a chance. And I didn’t want to anymore.’

We fell in love and were completely captivated by this wonderful story that had everything we love in our romances. We urge you romantics to go pick it up and be swept away by Amie Knight’s words.

“Play me a memory, Peaches.”
