SKY’S THE LIMITED (Doomsday Preppers #1) by ELLE AYCART

We love Elle Aycart’s writing, yet it’s been a while since we’ve read one of her books, so we were really looking forward to catching up with her emotional, cheeky, crazy hot sexy and amusing writing style with Sky’s the Limit, the first standalone in her new Doomsday Preppers series. What a quirky, odd, fun lot of characters we just encountered….and did we mention this book is hot?!

We will admit there were times we thought, ‘hmmm what are we reading?’ because this story, about a bunch of odd bods preparing for the end of the world, in their very own laughable and idiosyncratic way, ‘relentless wackos who believed the world was one influenza away from total extinction’ made for some peculiarly entertaining reading, and yet Elle Aycart provided a story setting that felt unique, whacky, emotional and we adored it all!

Sky Gonzales, a young social media obsessed beauty, thinks she’s heading to Paris, France and instead finds herself stranded in Paris, Minnesota, and well and truly out of her comfort zone, when she arrives in NoName Minnesota. Sky is used to wearing designer labels, and keeping her eager followers updated via her Instagram. NoName doesn’t have Wi-Fi or cell phone access, not only that but the town is full of doomsday preppers, in particular, The Pandemic Squad, a group of people readying themselves for the inevitable end of the world. Yep, Sky is way out of her depth, yet could these quirky folk provide Sky with a reality check and a new outlook on life? Time will tell!

“Look at me. What do you see?”

“Yes, I do.”

Making her stay in NoName a little more bearable is her rescuer, the sexy, Alchemist, Logan Nolting. Wow! What a man, part laidback geek, part domineering alpha, with a very sexy dirty mouth and some mad bedroom skills. Logan, who, in a former life lived in the corporate world commanding a seven figure salary, now lives and loves the simple life in NoName, following his marriage break up. Logan was DIVINE! Seriously…..every girl needs a Logan Nolting in her life!

There was much to like about this quirky story that also dealt with some heavy issues. Although masked in humour, we experienced the sheer pain and emotion beneath the wit, our hearts going out to Sky during her moments of personal torment, drawing raw emotion underneath the fun delivery.

The teasing and banter between all the characters and especially Sky and Logan was tremendous fun. The chemistry and passion between these two was off the charts HOT. An easy and entertaining read that left us with dopey grins and eagerly anticipating more of this series, and Ty’s book in particular!!

‘He brushed a strand of hair from her face. Tucked it behind her ear. “You’re fucking beautiful. You know that, right?”

Oh and we can’t leave without mention Arnie, Sky’s cantankerous and pampered pooch! Just wait until you share moments with Logan and Arnie…. …prepare to have your fur baby hearts melted!
