“Tub-time?” she asks softly. I hold still for a moment, thinking. Tub-time?
“I can hear those cogs kicking in.” She laughs a little. She’s right. Tub-time equals tub-talk. What does she want to talk about?
I pull my face from her throat and lift a questioning eyebrow. “Is there something you want to tell me?” My wife knows I’m at my weakest when she’s naked, wet, and spread all over me.
“No, I just thought it would be nice to have a soak together.”
Ava’s wet nakedness slipping all over mine? I slip free from her tight warmth on a small hiss, my cock still twitching from the aftermath of my climax. “Bubbles?”
“Lots.”
“Whatever my lady wants.” I shoot up off the bed and head to the bathroom, flipping on the taps and pouring in a huge dose of bubble bath before swishing the water around. It seems to take fucking ages for the water to reach halfway up the side, and when I’m happy with the depth, I jump in, wafting the bubbles upward. “Ready!” I call.
Within a few seconds, I hear Ava laughing. “Where are you?”
I flap my hands, clearing some of the bubbles in front of my face, and grin when I find her standing by the door. “Your god awaits.” I offer my hand, and she wanders over, still laughing, making a point of blowing some more bubbles from my nose as she lowers in front of me. I sigh a very fucking contented sigh as she settles between my thighs, my arms and lower legs wrapping her up tightly, my eyes closing in pure peace. The sensation of her palms stroking over the hairs on my legs is hypnotic. Utter fucking bliss.
It’s silent for a few moments, gloriously silent and peaceful. Until Ava breaks it. “Jesse?”
“Hmmmm.”
“About my boobs…”
My eyes flip open. I fucking knew it. Wants to soak with me in the bath? I scoff. “You mean the perfect boobs that your husband loves just the way they are? Those boobs?” I can’t see her, but I know she’ll have just pulled off an eye roll worthy of an award.
“Yes, those boobs.”
“Forget it.” I feel her shift under my hold. So I hold her tighter.
“Let me see you.”
“No.”
“Jesse.” Water starts to splash around us until I’m forced to release her or risk flooding the bathroom.
“For fuck’s sake,” I breathe as she spins over, resting a palm on each of my pecs and bringing her front down to mine. The tips of our noses meet. I’m not going over this again. No way. Those boobs are fucking perfect. And, more to the point, they’re mine. I nod my head to myself, determined to stand my ground, no matter how much she begs and no matter what she promises me. “No,” I say firmly. “Not even for a million jars of Sun-Pat and two million Apology Fucks. No.”
“But I hate them,” she whines, pushing out her bottom lip. I reach down and sink my teeth into it. “Ouch!”
“The answer will always be no.”
She wrenches herself free of my bite, hissing in pain as she does. Call me unreasonable, but it can’t hurt as much as what she’s suggesting. “Just listen.”
My hands sacrifice her arse to cover my ears. “Definitely not.”
“Jesse.”
I close my eyes. “I’m not listening.” I feel her lift from my body, obviously accepting that she’s going to get nowhere. Good. I hope she’s thinking about how unreasonable she’s being.
A boob job? I scoff to myself in my darkness. She’s got more chance of me divorcing her.
Our Review

We’re not going to lie, we were very hesitant when we heard Jesse and Ava were getting another book; one in which Ava would suffer a memory loss that meant losing their tumultuous, passionate, intense and obsessive history. Losing their magnificent love story. We’ll admit we went back and forth on whether to read it or not but of course as soon as it landed on our kindles we dropped everything and got stuck in. This is Jesse after all, no one waits for Jesse, right? Three…two…one….zero, baby.
‘Every move this man makes, everything he says, all his facial expressions and reactions, they all touch me somewhere deep, and my gut tells me it’s all okay. Everything is fine. Instinct tells me how to love him. My mind tells me how to handle him. I’m slowly putting it all together, figuring him out. He is the biggest part of who I am.’
We were sucked back into their world immediately, feeling as if we never left. There is no question, this is Jodi Ellen Malpas at her best. This series is her best, this couple is her best. This series is synonymous with this Author. It was perfection. Truly wonderful. With This Man is a story we didn’t know we needed nor craved. We can finally say we have read the ultimate ending to one of our favourite series and it made us laugh, cry and swoon with our hearts in a puddle on the floor. From the first page to the last we were riveted, feeling as if we were back with old friends. All our hesitancy and uncertainty vanished within the first sentences. This is without question one of the best revisits we’ve ever read to a series we hold so close to our hearts.
“Jesse?” she murmurs sleepily in my ear, and I hum my prompt for her to go on. “I think I’m falling in love with you.”
‘Remember, I demand silently, boring holes into the back of her head, willing the memories to rise to the surface. Remember me. Remember us.’
When Authors decide to write another book in a much loved series that takes the direction of a much treaded path you get wary, however, this storyline was written and handled in such a way that it felt fresh and exciting. There was no repetition nor rehashing of storyline, rather- it felt completely new and exciting. A new chapter if you will. With This Man was brilliantly written and it was so easy to slip back into the lives of Jesse and Ava. Jodi Ellen Malpas is without question completely at ease with her characters, this story coming naturally thus it was a joy to read. It felt effortless.
“You accepted me because you were as hopelessly in love with me as I was with you. You couldn’t be without me, either. You let me take the lead and you followed willingly. You let me lavish you with the attention and suffocation, because you knew it’s what I needed. You learned how to deal with me, Ava, and you are the only person in this world who can.”
We’re not going to go into specifics as every reader who loves this series as much as we do should experience it like we did. We have to say; experiencing this story from mainly Jesse’s pov broke our hearts, whilst the man is still infuriatingly cocky and controlling, he loves Ava and their kids with a passion that seconds nothing and no one. He has a mammoth fight on his hands as a consequence of Ava’s memory loss; however this is ‘The Lord’ we’re talking about here, he can trample anything and anyone; especially something that negatively impacts his marriage to the love of his life; the wonderful and sassy, Ava. Their banter was hilarious, their passion intense and their love for one another immense. Nothing will stand in their way and we were reminded of everything that makes their love so incredibly special.
“I can see why I fell in love with you,” she whispers, grazing her palms over my stubble.
“Because I’m an Adonis in bed?”
“And out of bed….You’re the perfect mix of man. Big, strong, passionate, devoted. You love with everything you have.”
“And I’m nothing without you.”
“And everything with me.”
We really don’t have enough words nor accolades for With This Man, it had everything and more with added ghosts from the past as well as a surprising suspense. But mostly, it was about a love that proves it can conquer anything and everything placed in its way.

Synopsis

I have read the first tree books time and time again, and didn’t think I could be anymore excited to read book 4 until I read this review.
These books bring us on an emotional rollercoaster frustration, angry, sadness, love and then a different insight on experiences we may have all been through or even witnessed.

I think that jesse-ism of any fan of this man is and will always be the countdown since that phrase marks the history of jesse and ava so my jesse-ism is 3,2,1 … zero baby. I love this phrase.
